Little fact: This song originally sang by a Mongolian lady who suffer after her husband death in Opium War in 1830s. After a hundred years in the end of 1930s there was another Mongolian actress and singer Ichinkhorloo who covered this song as a protest after her husband death during the great repression in Mongolia. In this soundtrack when he escape and came back to his love. He saw her and she already betrothed. That’s why you hear male voice instead…

Yes, the moon holds significant cultural and traditional importance in Mongolian culture. The moon has been revered in Mongolian traditions for centuries, and it plays a central role in various aspects of their way of life. The phases of the moon often determine the timing of important festivals and celebrations in Mongolia. For instance, Tsagaan Sar, the Mongolian Lunar New Year, is celebrated based on the lunar calendar. It falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice. It's essential to note that Mongolian culture is diverse, and the significance of the moon can vary among different regions and ethnic groups within Mongolia. While the modern world has brought changes to some of these beliefs and practices, the moon's cultural significance remains an important part of Mongolian identity and heritage.

Is Tsagaan Sar celebrated at the same time across all regions? What is Mongolian's biggest festival or celebration? like, for a country like the Philippines, Christmas and New Year are the biggest celebrations. What is it for Mongolia?

Tsagaan sar is celebrated at the same time throughout the country. Most poplar holidays are probably Tsagaan Sar and Naadam. New Year is widely celebrated owing to Russian influence during communist era.

@@AsianEntertainmentandCulture In this song, when it says "Сарыг манадаг" (watch over the moon), I believe RU-vid's auto-translation did not capture the true meaning accurately. The phrase actually conveys the idea of waiting for that person all night. Obviously not a common way to say so, but I think it makes it bit more poetic

The song "Goolongoo" is traditionally sang by men bc if a woman sings it, she'll not have a smooth love life. And this song is forbidden to sing at celebration. The main reason is explained above. This song is kinda cursed. Singer Saraa didn't believed in the curse and sang Goolingoo once and she got divorced, and one of her husband died of accident and she is still single. The parts sang by Nene is her own lyrics and the parts sang by Altanjargal is the traditional part.

Gossip says females are not suppose to sing traditional Mongolian chanting part, due to fear not able to marry, thus men sing it.
