This might be my second favorite Contra game, and I only played one other game. Become a member: / @blooteg Join our Discord: / discord #konami #contra #gaming
some notes. you unlock a set for jaguar to use his katana. lucia as playable. both guys in swimsuits. getting the bad ending iirc also unlocks a weapon set where the lock on is a super strong nigh instant laser. another has powerful main weapons but the lock on is slow. the dodge with direction isn't very good. however if you DONT MOVE when you dodge you instead do a spin in place which is actually Invincible, just be mindful of recovery frames just like the movement dodge. Neo Contra is not the best game in the series but it is certainly worthy of the name "Contra". an old game review summed it up best: Aging gracefully. it may not be as good as the original or 3 or Hard Corps but I think it deserves to be listed as a good Contra game also check out the secret ending. its hilarious
Keep making content on obscure and nostalgic junk, BlueTag. I love your simple "Hey!" Intro btw. I think it's pretty cute paired with the blue rat avatar.
The Diablo of Contra games. I love it: it’s way more playable and accessible than the joyless torture session that was Shattered Soldier. It had a lot of kookie charm, and the level design and enemies were all sorts of awesome. The game was great. Period. Thank you for the enjoyable feature.
If you enjoyed this, there's also Shattered Soldier from the same developers, which is more of a traditional game but with a lot of neat things that you see here introduced. I did hear it's even tougher with the ranking, though, so there's that, and if you still want more, another Konami game with a similar feel and a brutal difficulty for the PS2 is Gradius 5 by Treasure.
oh man… forgot this game even existed. just had a winter soldier moment seeing that intro again. i had this on the PS2 when i was like… 6. no one ever talks about this game, its actually a gem imo.
Let's face it, the 80's/90's missed their chance at a Contra movie. They could have had Schwarzenegger and Stallone on the same screen loooong before 'The Expendables' fighting hordes of xenomorph looking aliens to take down the evil Red Falcon faction. I imagine "Aliens" meets "Rambo" would be about right.
Neo Contra is honestly the perfect breeding ground for a TF2 parody animation featuring Soldier and Demoman as Bill and the other guy, forgot his name sadly.
This was my first Contra game! Can't remember where i got it from, I didn't own a memory card for a bit so I used to speedrun this so often! Contra and Castlevania had these sorta goofy games in the mid 2000s that people just forgot about but they're resurfacing now! Great video :) glad you played Twisted metal black and 4. You got most of my childhood out of the way lol
it was ve very first game I played on PS2, I remember leaving it at the title screen just so I could hear a full loop of its track before start playing. And drawing Jaguar's thick marks everywhere around school
I like this Contra on PS2 but I think I like the other one Shattered Soldier a little bit more because my least favorite levels in all the OG NES/SNES era Contra games were the top down levels and Neo Contra is basically all top down levels sadly. But Shattered Soldier is mostly all 2D Contra with 3D backgrounds and I love it for that. Also its super hard and rewarding.
Many fans hated this contra for having such a parody story, unlike the previous contras that are very serious, I mean the first boss is a parody of a bald Nazi who when dying says "With my last breath I salute the Master Contra" which is the bad guy of the game, without a doubt as a meme game it is a 10/10.
I'm happy I get to use these beautiful emojis in comments now! Also 8:50 made me laugh harder than it should have with that nice ass shot right next to Blue's face 😂 And thanks for the shoutout at the end! Way too kind!
Just for information, most of the games didn't analog controls because 1st twins stick shooting wasn't really a thing back then and secondly a lot of old PS was shipped with digital controllers instead.
oh that's a PS2 game though, I don't think the PS2 ever had digital only controllers though even in games like Smash TV on the SNES had directional shooting without any analogs (which was crazy)
@@BlooTeg Oh my bad, I didn't realise it was a ps2 game. I saw your intro and assumed it was one of the games I didn't play on psone. Please pardon my ignorance. Nonetheless, even on ps2 alot games were figuring out the aim controls I believe it was 7th gen consoles that fully adopted a proper control system that has become norm today. Ah, Smash TV.... it was really simple and very intuitive control system. Never actually realised how genius it was. On the other hand, I always felt all the Contra games on PS had such strange controls. I remember Contra Adventures, the controls always felt like some of the buttons did nothing.
Can't believe that in 2:30 the katana guy Just made the exact same thing with the sword that Raiden did in Metal Gear Rising while he's on top of a Plane Too! check for yourself, just type "Metal Gear Rising - Raiden cuts a jet"
What little i've played of the original NES Contra, its ok I guess. My first exposure to Contra was Contra 3 on SNES, that game is awesome. Never beat it though, i think I got fairly far into it. Never played any of the games beyond that, heard they weren't great.
First time watching your videos and I'm already a big fan. "You then get a B ranking, which is the for Bluetag, the best rank you can get" the moment I subbed.
Lol @ these names and character designs. My name is Guerilla Jaguar McBladesnake. This is my partner, Shadeflame Stormslashingberg. We shoot guns and pose for a living.
Great vid!! I do really love the designs in this game weird concept mixtures are always a win. Also idk why but this game gives me heavy metal gear and Dino crisis vibes.
First time i see bout this game, it's interessing how they create 2 bad games (C:Contra adventure and Contra: Legacy of War) and then they create Contra: Shattered Soldier that looks PRETTY SOLID ! and then... they come back into PS1 gameplay type and failed...
This game is getting hard to find complete in good shape. All I find are discs and ex rental copies. I think most copies were sent straight to rental stores back in the day.
Yooooo the Neo Contraaaaaa I haven't played any of the PS releases (from PS1 shovel ware to this and Shattered Soldier, to HCU) but this one always intrigued me from how it changed the perspective of the game. That and Yagyu being in Contra Rebirth, which I did play a lot.
Dayum, didn't expect this! Never played that game which i have it on my PS3! , but i played Shin Contra before which i recommend for review it's an outstanding contra game. And yeah i'm happy to see this great video i will try Neo Contra out soon.
aw yes Contra the "Father and son" game. also that what we call here for the meme since the pronouce is of the game's name sound like the word son father in vietnamese so yeah
BlueTag just release a video and i can not wait for the next one. Did you ever played Rogue Trip? it's another car combat game from the same developers of Twisted Metal 1 and 2 and it's pretty cool.
@@BlooTeg yeah i never played a contra game , i was liyng . I like castlevania more than contra . I like so much that super castlevania 4 is my favorite game of all time . I like super castlevania 4 more than super Mario 64 , vib ribbon , sonic mania and GTA San Andreas .
your twinstick comment makes me wonder how this game would play if it utilized a control scheme similar to what Dead Nation had or just make the right analog stick to aim and shoot
Hey! After watching this video i thought i could give some ideas of games for you to play! You really could try and bring us some shadow of the colossus (the one on ps2) or twisted metal 2012(the ps3 version)
@@BlooTeg HOW ARE YOU SO FAST? Also, i love your unique style of narrative, it really hooks the spectator and its so simple in a good way. Appreciate the consideration for the people that watch your channel. Obrigado!
Haha thank you so much! I try to stay in touch as much as I can, I know it won't be possible like this if the channel keeps growing at the rate it is right now so I rather spend as much time as I can here for now
i notice you have tekken 3 wallpaper, have you ever play urban reign? it's made by the same developer but since you usually review bad games maybe beatdown fist of vengeance would be more appropriate.
