I just sold my 20 year AES and MVS collection that was a big part of my life. Have to make other priorities at the moment, but ngl parting with it tore me up. It’s such an amazing investment and experience not just for collecting, but for gaming your eyeballs out on that no other retro system comes anywhere close to. And the smell of those cartridges, ha. I DO still have a backup unmodded AES System, set of control sticks and a japanese copy of MS3 and SVC Chaos… also for sale but enjoying my last little time left with those. At least I know they will likely go to good homes to serious collectors and appreciators like this you tuber.
Dude! You finally pulled the trigger. Awesome! Very clean AES, looks beautiful and what a deal on all those pieces. Sam Sho 3 is definitely my favorite too. Liking that darker atmosphere going on. And Last Blade, man! Lovely pixel art. Stoked to see what else you will pick up later on. I actually have been buying some AES stuff too. Video in the works :)
Looking forward to seeing your AES video! I'm gathering up games and hardware that I don't play to fund the Neo Geo budget, haha. Garou Mark of the Wolves is at the top of the list! Cheers!
@@RetroReWire Thanks, I have 3 videos as of now! Right on, exactly the same as me. I got rid of almost all my PS2 games now. Just to get the AES games. Mark of the Wolves is amazing. Definitely a piece you gotta get at some point :D
@@RetroMoments For sure, it’s one of my favorite fighters of all time. I mainly want AoF3 and Mark of The Wolves, anything else would be icing on the cake. Cheers!
Hi JJ, What an amazing lineup of Neo-Geo goodies obtained for your collection bro. This really puts a smile on anybody's face seeing that the Neo-Geo is just so fantastic to play and with a sizable amount of titles to play. What can be any better than this bro. 8^) I posted your upload on, The Official NEO-GEO Thread for others to benefit and enjoy your works on the forums over on AtariAge to help with additional exposure for others to take notice on what you shared with us. Thank you for sharing this with us JJ. A pleasure meeting you and looking forward on viewing more like this from you bro. 8^) Anthony..
You're welcome JJ.. Thank you for the reply back. If you like, feel free to browse round the Neo-Geo thread at anytime. Were a small thread on AtariAge, but we welcome newcomers and vets alike to post away on Neo-Geo and SNK related material. Speaking of browsing, I'm having fun seeing your past videos. Lots of fun content that you share for the community to enjoy bro. 8^) Anthony..
20 years ago, all boxed complete; Metal Slug X (Brand New) was ¥30,000, Fatal Fury Special was ¥380, Samurai Spirits was ¥380, Samurai Spirits II was ¥380, Metal Slug was ¥100,000, Viewpoint was ¥30,000, AES was ¥10,000 etc, in Akihabara. These were the the days way before Super Potato and tourists/newbies ruined Akihabara. So glad I completed my collection then and captured these days on video on my channel.
20 years ago would have been ideal for AES collecting! I had an American AES back in 2014, but even back then it was pricey to get (not by today's standards, however). There is also a rising interest with retro gaming in Japan, so things will only get more expensive, I imagine. I'll have to checkout those videos you have on your channel, cheers!
@@RetroReWire My pleasure. I got my Japanese AES in 1992 as it was more popular than the NES in England at my school so it was fun friends lending each other games. It's a myth that 'no one' had them back when it was new. Viewpoint was expensive at £250 but most other games were £70-£150 which wasn't too bad compared to £50-£70 for a SFC game.
@@JAPJAC Is your AES still operating well? Have you had to do much maintenance to keep it going? I didn't personally know anyone who had an AES back in the day, but my area was littered with MVS cabinets. I think a local movie/game rental shop had an AES available, however.
@@RetroReWire Yes, perfectly thank you. AES might be 'arcade exact' but MVS was a budget-priced arcade solution for operators meaning that similar genres on other hardware at the time blew the NeoGeo away. Apart from the lacklustre clock speed ruining many NeoGeo games it has some good games, Viewpoint being the best, but the CPS and CPS-II library blows the NeoGeo's away. That is why the CPS CHANGER is the greatest solid-state home console of all-time IMO.
@@JAPJAC A CPS Changer would be awesome, but they're unicorn rare. Still, that gives me an appetite for a Supergun. Perhaps that's the next level for my collection, haha!
I have both the Japanese & NA NTSC AES consoles and 20+ official games consisting mostly of the non-fighting games although I so have a few fighters. I prefer the “kidney bean” joystick over the other two. I really enjoy the AES and It’s definitely an expensive console to collect for but same can be said for the Super Nintendo/Famicom & Genesis/MD with some of their games exceeding costs of some AES games.
Very cool, what’s your favorite game on the platform? I’m looking over my collection to see what games can go toward the Garou Mark of The Wolves savings. And very true, Contra Hard Corp and Vampire Killer are well within the price range of some sweet AES games. Cheers!
I never found a place for AES. Considering you live next to shops selling mvs I'm surprised you went AES. I have metal slug 1,2,X and 3 on mvs which would cost 50000 dollars on AES. I love the CD but don't currently own one. Check out viewpoint on cd if you have not already.
For AES I’m really only after Garou and AoF3. I definitely won’t aim for any original AES Metal Slug games. Metal Slug is listed at ¥2,300,000 on Surugaya’s online store! Haha that’s crazy. I’ve played Viewpoint on PS1 years ago, it may be a title worth revisiting on Neo CD. Cheers!
Yes, the Surugaya near the station and the one near Trader HQ are great. Surugaya 03-3254-7385 maps.app.goo.gl/XbDb2dZSJyRxTSUs9?g_st=ic Surugaya Co., Ltd. Akihabara game Museum 03-3256-7277 maps.app.goo.gl/DfKgXj7F13URhBCdA?g_st=ic Cheers!
