Love the MVS 161-in-1. It takes a lot of (well deserved) flak, but it's one of the greatest deals in all of gaming. 161 got me by with MVS for years until I got some carts and eventually a Darksoft Multi.
I was going to ask you on the Darksoft multi... I have the 161 in 1 for the MVS and use it, but own a good chunk of the games I want for the AES and MVS.... I have the Neo SD for the AES.... but am thinking on getting a flash cart for the MVS... I brought this up to a couple others and they said to stay far away from the Dark Soft MVS cart.... now I am a little aware of the hate back and forth in the community between Terraonion supporters and Darksoft supporters and could give a crap about the drama... I want an expert opinion on the Darksoft MVS cart. Does it work as well as the NEO SD? Compatibility issues? Glitches? Any weird quirks etc? I just want to grab a dam cart lol... and almost pulled the trigger on the Darksoft but decided to wait and try to find more info but all i keep seeing is drama lol.
@@Madlittlepixel That's a subject I try to stay out of too. I've never seen the NeoSD in person but from what I've seen in videos, it looks great. It probably just comes down to preference. There's no reason to steer clear of either one though, and anyone saying something either way is probably steeped in the drama :D
I dont know how Darksofts AES will be, but be able to insta-boot the game just like an AES cart is a big deal for me. Thats how NeoSD works. Quite slow to change roms tho.
I bought a 161 in 1 AES multicart, a few years ago, from The Neo Store. The only thing I've ran into is, sometimes the sound will cut out. It's not a deal breaker for me, and it doesn't happen often. My AES has been fine, I'll play original carts, as well, and everything works fine.
Yeah I got one that was from the neo store but it wouldn't play right on my system are try to working at games with just stopped working and said I need a stronger adapter like a pow3 adapter for to work 🕹🎮😀👍🏽
I just bought an MVS board for £40 + this cart for £40 so £80 and thats enough neo geo for me, I am not going down the road of buying original carts etc, don't want to have to re-mortgage my house for a game system
Anyone that plays Blazing Star with me always thinks the lady is saying "BONER" over and over. You're welcome. In general the translation in that game is hilarious.
The AES 161in1 works perfectly fine with UniBios v4 the way you are demoing it in this video, just as well as in UniBios v3.3 and earlier. It does not work well with the UniBios v4 PICKnMIX feature because the AES version of the 161in1 does not have the feature that saves softDIPs to the cart (The MVS cart does). It is much better to use the MVS 161in1 cart and a MVS to AES conveter, this will work fine on an AES with the UniBios v4 PICKnMIX feature.
I don't own a NEO GEO but I'd love to get one but its cool learning about it. This looks crazy though. Its the amount of roms you'd see on a pi3 image so dang very cool. The NEO GEO to me still seems royalty like when we where younger, probably still outta reach for me, for now anyway.
I stayed clear of the MVS version years ago of this cart when the reports of incorrect voltages and needing cap fixes for sound issues surfaced. Personally, I'd go for the DS or Terraonion cart choices now imo than these china bootlegs.
This Cart works fine, those glitchy menus can be fixed just pushing the reset button, I only wished that this came along with AOF 3 and the Real Bout series
And you got to make sure you have a power three adapter you got to make sure you have a strong adapter or else the 161 cartridge won't work you keep freezingp🕹🎮😀👍🏽
I have herd some mvs has a chance in wrecken your system. Just not made right and has sound issue's. Sound issue's can be manually fixed. Does the AES cart have problems also?
The Neo Geo is a console that I would LOVE to have in my setup, the only thing keeping me from doing it is the high prices the console goes for. I've heard some bad things about these 161 in 1 carts so I've already decided to stay away from those. The games are far too expensive for me to even think of building a collection for so my only option is the Neo SD. $500 is an absolutely pricey endeavor to obtain a NEO SD on top of the money needed to for the console, controllers and good video cables, but since the prices for authentic Neo Geo AES carts can be so astronomically high it makes $500 seem like a drop in the bucket. Either way, whether collecting real carts or getting a Neo SD, its completely worth it to experience the Neo Geo in all its cartridge gaming glory. Hopefully one day I can add this console to my setup and give myself and my friends a chance to play this amazing machine.
I would have been interested in this, but my unibios is version 4.0. I have the MVS 161 in 1, but I have to use the MVS magic key to play it on my AES which kinda freaks me out.
I have the 161 mvs cart cause I knew it will hurt the aes. I ended up getting a mv1c board for it especially for that. The logo winners dont use drugs, am sure is the unibios is making it look like that because I have a couple original mvs cart along with daedalus mvs converter and one original aes game and its the same issue, but I guess I can live that. Awesome videos your always on the spot on my favorite things.
What a time to be alive!! I always wanted a Neo Geo but dang they were expensive. The ability to play them all on a multi cart sounds like a dream come true. Thanks for the video, Ron. Makes it... intriguing to pick up an actual console. But at this point if it’s just ROMs loading via a cart then why not just play them on PC. If the cart doesn’t work on all the consoles it makes it even less of a must buy.
Im a big fan of emulating but at the same time playing on original hardware how it was meant to be played is a thing of beauty and means a hell of a lot to me..... Multi carts like this the issue isnt loading roms off the cart as its loading the game information into the system just like an original cart... Just this one has issues lol... But there are certain accuracies and issues with emulating some people cannot get over when comparing to playing on original hardware. Input lag is one of them, games dont feel the same etc. This doesn't bother some... But when you have virtually no lag introduced on an original game that you play a lot, then switch to emulating the game differences in feel will be noticed for sure.
@madlittlepixel how would you compare this to buying an Neo Sd Wich one do you think would be the best option also would it be better to buy a mvs to AES converter and start buying mvs carts ?
Can't beat the Neo SD. The Pro version is being released in a couple weeks which is pretty awesome with the new features. Now if you already have an AES, id definitely not recommend the 161 in 1 as for the price that could go to the Neo SD or the pro and youd be able to play all available games without glitches. If you must have original carts MVS is definitely the cheaper route, buying a converter is a little pricey and if you follow MVS pricing the carts are starting to go up, not to the AES prices but I have definitely seen an influx. I know a couple people who use a converter and buy MVS carts, but have no experience myself with that to know if everything works or not. One friend I know has a decent size MVS collection he uses on the AES with a converter and hasnt had issues though. Ultimately if wanting original carts, mvs is the cheaper option. If you just want to have access to everything on original hardware and owning carts doesnt matter go with the NEOSD, the pro version is around $600 US, the original like $450 or so.
How the heck do you reset to the Menu screen without powering off/on the AES? It says to "hold Start for 5 seconds" to go to the menu selection. I've tried every button combination I think, and my Start button does work. Any help?
Thanks for showing. I’m extremely happy with my NeoSD. Being that this could potentially damage an AES my opinion is to pass on these types of carts. What I’ve heard about mvs adaptors I’m passing on those as well. Considering grabbing an Omega.
Well when you have an expensive console and dont know if the correct voltage is used with the cart... There definitely is a unknown risk until proven otherwise. The power consumption, whats being pulled by the cart etc... There are things that could damage this system. Its not like an NES... Your NES stops working you can easily find a new one ... The AES isnt as easily or cheaply replaced.
@@Madlittlepixel agreed. Another option not to worry so much and gamble with our sweet AES is to either test it before use, or not to buy the cartridge until proven safe.
I bought one of these and taking advantage of it change to BIOS 4.0 and with that in addition to utility tricks you can change the console region to avoid problems like that of airfighters 2 that if it works well in USA version or in Japan but not in European , the truth is that I enjoy the cartridge that pays in ebay Spain approximately 250 euros
@@Madlittlepixel For me, it works perfectly and I commented that if you turn on with the 161 cartridge on it and by pressing the Select button.. (Without letting go) then load the game of baseball and there is a secret menu that you can see the list of complete games without including the modifications, is a trick that somebody toldme and sometimes I use. On the other hand they (ebay spain) also sell cartridges with metal slug collections
Forget to say that as you comment some are demo (I do not know which) other versions NeoGeo CD and other MVS/AES, nor try the special blow.. I'm not good at that game you explain, thanks for making these videos..
Damn. The Mark of The Wolves bug just made this thing a huge turnoff for me. I guess you get what you pay for lol I don't play Kim, but honestly, who knows what other bugs there are. That game is extremely expensive to collect, and after spending nearly $300 on SVC Chaos, I vowed to not do that again lol
No not these ones. I found only 3 of this version on ebay rite now all between $300-350. The MVS version sells for under $100 all day. Not the AES version... Not yet anyway... Direct from China your looking at around $200 cart only for this version.
Great video I never even thought about this particular cartridge being safe or not inside the aes system. If it's s chance that it could damage the aes then it truly isn't worth owning then & you did the right thing by retiring the cartridge for sure🙏👍😎👌
@madlittlepixel can u quit the game and back to the games list pressing start button for 5 seconds ? I have the same cart and unibios 4.0 but cannot quit game...
