Neonate Ophthalmia in a Newborn Kitten 

Aww Hank is so cute! It broke my heart to hear him crying like that, but I’m glad his eye is all better now.

I lost two baby kittens in my neighborhood from this because we were uninformed and had no good clinic to take them to. I feel terrible. They were so sweet and yearning for love. They had this wobbly walk. ❤️😭😭😭

My second ever cat had this condition. Unfortunately, she had to have one of her eyes removed but luckily, she has lived a full and fun life for the past 12 years! She had green pus coming out of her eye and her mother was a farm cat and was killed shortly after Dolly’s (perfectly named) birth. She is the funniest little cat and doesn’t even know that she doesn’t have an eye!

For everyone confused, Hank is actually a girl. They checked his genitals quickly when they got him and thought his was a boy, but a few days later they checked again and he was a she. So that's why at the end she says 'She is doing better' even though throughout the video she says he.

You’re advice saved my kittens eyes!!! I had a stray that gave birth on my porch and around time for their eyes to open I noticed one had crusties and couldn’t open it’s eyes. Wiped it and BAM! Puss. Unfortunately it spread to the other kittens BUT I used this video as a guide and 24 hours later they are all so much more happy and ALL eyes are open and clean! Thank you thank you thank you!

I am 14, living with a cat and a dog, and out of the house all day... so fostering won't be an option until I'm older, but I have learned so much from these videos that I will be prepared for when I do! I really love your videos and admire the work and commitment you put into saving those precious babys. It's really inspiring! Here's a quick tip from an icu-nurse if you're open to it: The way you applied the erythromycin directly into the eye, it can lead to bacteria getting inside the rest of the medicine and so you might get new bacteria into the eye the next time you apply it. The way we do it in the hospital is to put it on the back of your clean glove or onto a steril qtip and then apply. This way the medication-bottle does not come in contact with any bacteria and it stays sterile.

Aloha! I'm Ky & have rescued/hand-raised felines (alongside various menagerie but most beloved are All CATS!) my entire life since my family queen whelped beside my 4 yr old frame on the den floor. Thanks for all U do and this! I also spent 2 tours serving as a US Navy Corpsman, many years spent specializing in all the Surgical Services, including Ophthalmology! So quick lovingly granted tips: Squeeze the desired amout of medicine from the tube onto a Clean, CTA (Cotton-Tipped-Applicator, a.k.a. Q-tip) 1st before applying directly to the affected area; To prevent contamination of the medicine source, as well as maximize longevity of each tube by not wasting so long as u don't squeeze too much of the metal tube and close cap immediately. Save more Eyes! Bless U Sistah!

Seriously Hannah! Thank you for all these videos. Kittens I’ve taken in are now 2 weeks 2 days old, and one of them I noticed the eye shut last night. So today I was able to flush with saline and apply ophthalmologic bacitracin to the eye and its already half open! Will continue to care for him and the other 3 until adoption ❤️❤️🙏🏼🧚‍♂️ thank you!!!!
