Dude, Hexblade Warlock Patron is Buddha, who has freed Sun but won't him use his full powers until he's made visible progress towards self-improvement. Pact of the Blade, with his Staff being his Pact Weapon. Pour it all into Charisma. Deception & Intimidation are his key tools. Plus, Hex Warrior allows him to use his Charimsa Mod in place of Strength or Dexterity for attack & damage rolls. Dump Intelligence & Wisdom, he'll have proficiency in Religion because he actually knows most of the Celestials, but only in that sort of vague "oh yeah, I kicked all their asses 500 years ago" sort of way. Invocations: Devil's Sight, Witch Sight, Eldritch Sight for his special eyes. *MASK OF MANY FACES ALLOWS YOU TO CAST **_DISGUISE SELF_** AT WILL, NO SPELL SLOTS REQUIRED.* Master of Myriad Forms at Level 15 allows him to transform into other items at will. Ascendant Step at Level 9 allows him to Levitate at will. Flavor with cloud. Otherworldly Leap at Level 9 for Monkey Super Jumps. Cantrips: Mage Hand for stealing things, Sword Burst for taking down multiple enemies at once, Minor Illusion for (insert trick here), and Blade Ward to make yourself tougher like a Stone Monkey would be. Spells: *Hexblade comes with* Shield (protective charms), Wrathful Smite (hit them scary hard with your stick), Blur (good luck hitting him), Branding Smite (hit them hard and leave a memento), Blink (visit Celestials), and Elemental Weapon (more hit them with your stick). Meaning these quintessentially Sun-Wukong spells are automatically added to your spell list, but you only have a few slots to actually use them (like how Sun could technically do a lot of things to make the journey faster/easier, but just doesn't). Take Mirror Image for duplicates, Flock of Familiars to make duplicates that can actually do things, Arms of Hadar can be flavored as a duplicate f***-'em-up beatdown, Magic Circle for that ring of "Stay Here and You'll Be Safe", Summon Lesser & Summon Greater Demons for calling on his Demon buddies. Mystic Arcanums: Investiture of Wind for flying and general tornado mayhem, True Seeing for ultimate Sun-Wukong eyes, True Polymorph to go Kaiju Wukong. I had my doubts, man, but this build works *so good.*
Buddha freeing Sun Wukong but limiting his power sounds like a good story concept. With that story idea in mind and some generous reflavoring of how Warlocks work, this could work well for a Sun Wukong build.
He's more of as hard as stone thanks to being, essentially, pressure cooked. Simic Hybrid can actually work rather well...the climb speed fits the monkey, and the upped armor fits his harder skin. Tasha's also means you can swap things around for stats
@@AzraelThanatos A magic stone spontaneously birthed a stone egg, which didn't hatch, but reshaped into Sun Wukong, a stone monkey. Yes, he's literally stone.
This video inspired me to make a Monkey race hope you like it Shimiannin Traits Your shimiannin character has the following racial traits. Ability Score Increase Your Strength score increases by 2 and one other ability score of your choice increase by 1. Age Shimiannin mature and age at about the same rate as humans. Alignment Shimiannin gravitate toward being good, but some have devious streaks and enjoy causing dismay. Size Shimiannin are relatively slender than humans. Your size is Medium. Here’s how to determine your height and weight randomly, starting with rolling a size modifier: Size modifier = 2d10 Height = 4 feet + 7 inches + your size modifier in inches Weight in pounds = 105 + (2d4 × your size modifier) Speed Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Climb You have a climbing speed of 30 feet. Cloudjumper Whenever you make a long or high jump, you add five times your proficiency bonus to the number of feet you cover, even when making a standing jump. This extra distance costs movement as normal. In addition, when you make a long or high jump, you have advantage on any Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check you make related to the jump. Pack Tactics You have advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn’t incapacitated. Skill Monkey You have proficiency in the Acrobatics and Athletics skills. Languages You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
Well done! I agree with your stat distribution. Sun Wukong is literally a martial artist monk in his canon, but he is definitely lacking wisdom (impulsive, arrogant, given to ill-considered decisions). If a player really wants to fight empty handed, then Unarmed Fighting is now an official fighting style. Intimidation and Persuasion are also great choices for bardic expertise because he gets as much done with his words as he does his cudgel. Seriously, it is in a lot of stories.
@@tabletopnephilim4633 Really? And here I thought I you read the entire four volume series for one build. Kidding. Do mind providing a link? I'm interested in this Overly Sarcastic Productions thing.
@@mhm9557 truly, he has mannerisms too; yeah, surprisingly odd. Very intelligent in psychological warfare and tactics and anything but wisdom. He has nearly pretty much everything.
I know I’m about 5months late and maybe someone already commented this. I don’t know about 5e but in 3.5 there is a race called vanaran in the oriental adventures book that would a perfect fit for a humanoid monkey character.
I'm actually playing an Archfey Warlock for the Sun Wukong avatar. I took pact of the Tome for She-Lay-Lay, Thorn Whip and Primal Savagery. I never thought about Echo Knight but I will consider the multiclass....thx
I can't wait for Anderson. Also I subscribed just for the legendary builds. I can see a campaign where all the PCs are either descendants or reincarnations of these heroes protecting the material plane and humanity from forces such as Fiends, Celestials that despised mortals, an empire of machines that use souls for a powersource, and Eldritch abominations.
Congtrats on 200 subs, cool video, I agree with the weapons book, we need that with some new spells for damage types that make it so that other damage types get the treatment fire does
Forgot to state what i think. Id imagine 17 in horizon walker ranger then 3 in echo knight fighter. Race being winged tiefling. Why ranger? Specifically horizon Walker? Simple, he absolutely despises fiends, humanoids would also work for both his favored foes. For horizon walker you get abilities that allow teleportation. And finnaly the level 5 ranger spell known as steel wind strike is litterally just his judgment cut end
I have a suggestion... Judas Priest: Father Alexander Anderson. Maybe using a combination of Ranger and Barbarian (Path of the Zealot) with the option of adding some bits of Fighter here and there.
Not gonna lie; I think I’ll just use homebrew content. I’m a forever DM anyway so it’s fine, it’s fine. 😊 But if I ever do want to play someone else’s game as Wukong and was worried about not being able to use Homebrew? I know where to turn to now at least. 🤩 🐒🍑
I wanna make a dnd character who can turn into a monkey that has basically sun wukong build it would be cool if he was a chaotic force of good theif when I say that I mean good deeds why cause we'll why not
Well if we really needed to make it completely accurate, make him equal to a dnd God then give him as many ways of immortality as possible then give him a polymorph like no other, also make all but int and wis equal to YES and, finally become the ultimate embodiment of the word Monke
The only limit to multiclassing is if you can meet the required ability scores. I actually have a video titled "The Omniclass" where I show how I would approach multiclassing between every class.
Ok so I never actually played dnd so I have a question with druid you can become a monkey and can you stay in that for like ever and next on paper can we make our own races?
