And I didn't let the installer give me any more unwanted programs along with the download of the game, so I think I'm safe. I'll try the compatibility mode and see if that works, thanks for advice.

My processor is too slow (1.8GHz Dual core that acts like a 2.6GHz Single core) on a Windows 8.1 Laptop. The game recomends or requires 3GHz. The lag for me was too much for me to bare.
