Usual starting age for university in the states is 18, so her going to Stanford, an Ivy League if I am not mistaken, at the age of 16, which is second year high school age, is quite the fucking achievement. Well done miss Jemison.
I'm sorry, you think that the reason she got into Stanford University, for which the average acceptance GPA is a 4.18 on a 4.0 scale, at the age of 16 and onto the space program, is because she has a set of ovaries?
It's technically not an Ivy -- easiest way to remember is that the Ivy league was/is a sports league so all the Ivy's are the northeast. But it is an "Ivy-equivalent" so just as academically impressive etc. (For those who don't know Stanford is in California)
To be specific Margaret Hamilton was the Director of the Software Engineering Division of the MIT Instrumentation Laboratory. The whole laboratory wrote the software. No one person can write all of that no matter how smart they are.
University starts at 18-19 years old but Mae was probably from the gifted and talented group of people and graduated early to pursue her career in space stuff
Someone did submit an ISS set to LEGO and got more than the 10,000 supporters required for the set to be reviewed. After reviewing the set however, LEGO decided not to make it an official set.
Hey now, if you set off a manned rocket in the right direction (ie. towards something very solid) it will make its contents pink too. Technology is LIMITLESS!!
if you have a VIP membership at the lego store, you get points each time you buy a lego set - i think it's like 1 point per $5 or $10 spent or something. anyway, each point can be traded in for $1 off a purchase on the site. so, like, if you had 100 points, you could buy a $100 lego kit and not pay anything out of pocket.
Hence why the USSR never tried to discredit NASA because it's not like they were having a cold war or something at the time where something like being able to disprove the achievements of your enemies would be a great political blow to them or something.
I can say with 100% accuracy that there will never ever be a "Men if NASA" official Lego set. There may be a 'Men of NASA' set because they can spell 'of'. ;-)
The problem with the female angle of this is that it implies that women in nasa are the exception and not just a reality of the field. This may be why one of the women intended for the set refused to have her likeness in there. I understand that was not the intention and I applaud their efforts to encourage girls into the STEM fields. But This set just goes about it all wrong.
No, this set implies that women in NASA being famous is the exception and that's true! EVERYBODY has heard of Neil Armstrong, there's nothing wrong with promoting some amazing women at NASA so when people think of NASA it won't be only men they picture in their heads
Roboshi "weedy" LOL it's a diorama focusing on the women i.e. the minifigs themselves, anything more is unnecessary and by being simple it's easy to build and cheaper to buy which is great for kids, and that's who this set is for (along with space nerds like me and dan who want something small and cool to display)
