Mark - I admire your commitment to more value for our money. I’d like to offer you some advice about how my brain works. If I go to the supermarket and there are 14 different flavors of diet soda - including 6 just of Diet Coke - I freeze. If I go to a convenience store with just Diet Coke and Diet Dr. Pepper, I’m good. If I could pick a program for the weight I wanted and get three pages of instructions, I am much more likely to do it for 4-8 weeks. Then, if I am feeling strong and have another weight, I’d buy the next level (hopefully at a discount as a loyal subscriber).

Minor editing note: on the website for the program after ‘Most people don't train the muscles they can't see’ it lists ‘flutes’ as one of those. Unless it’s a euphemism and swings have *even more* benefits than I realized, it’s probably meant to be glutes. :)

If I'm trying to program heavy/light days for the 10 set EMOM, would it make sense for the light day to be 16 set EMOM with a step lower weight (16kg => 12kg) but with same number of reps per set between a given H/L cycle? I think it adds up to something like 380kg more work over the H workout that follows it in the same week, and is an even number of sets (since I'm alternating 2H and 1H). 14 sets is still more work but a smaller margin. Love the program so far. If the above doesn't make sense, would you mind making a quick video showing programming a heavy/light rotation with the swing EMOM program? I haven't been able to find it in the videos and I know it's not in the PDF yet. It's been really helpful with the C&P program to have the perfect path example to work from, but I don't need anything so elaborate to get me going. Thanks for everything! Love your work. Already feeling stronger and more able to focus on technique and getting more consistent at cueing myself verbally and adjusting after a couple of weeks.

@@cdktaekwon-doclubculebra1627 Simple and Sinister, the swings and turkish get-up program by Pavel/Strongfirst. Step loading means you're replacing a lighter bell with a heavier one by increasing numbers of sets with the heavier one over time.
@patrickokeeffe4787
@patrickokeeffe4787 2 года назад
I like Marks videos, but this might be overkill for me. The Simple and Sinister program (S&S) is just that.....SIMPLE. S&S: A swing (ballistic exercise) and a TGU (grind exercise). Whole body covered in just two movements. Just do 10 swings on the minute for 10 mins total and a total of 100 reps. When it gets too easy and you "own" the movement, buy a heavier weight and move on. Same dosage applies for Turkish Get up. Couldn't be any simpler than that. Run it everyday or 3 day a week or run it around whatever you are doing. The S&S also uses a Goblet Squat in the warm up, so all your bases are covered...you have a squat, a hinge and a pressing movement. Another nice option is you can tweak S&S and substitute a Clean and Press for the TGU and now are have a bit of a pulling movement added to your press, squat and hinge movements. If you want to work your whole body, you will have to add more exercises to the swing....this is the simplest and minimalistic way. Another great program that I used is Jeff Sokol Kettlebell Foundations. Its 3 different workouts or "Foundations" in his program. Its ideal to run as a 3 days a week like a Mon-Weds-Fri. You get a brilliant 10 minute mobility body warm up, then the Kettlebell session is broken into 3 parts. The first two parts are to "wake up" rounds for the muscles being used in the final session which is the "work" session. Its like a S&S but with more meat and potatoes to it! It a fantastic package to work every aspect of your body with a bit more variety than S&S so you don't get bored. There is swings in there, TGU, Clean and Presses, Halos, Core bobyweight exercises and also a lot of stuff that covers mobility and balance too. A lovely all round package. Best of luck to Mark on this program, but I think I'll pass.

Hi Mark, thank you for making this program available. I am going over the pdf and planning my weeks. I'd say I am intermediate level, and have doing single arm swings following your previous math videos. For this program I'm thinking 2B, but I am confused, can it be just single arm swings in one set, followed by the other arm swings in the next set, or should it be hand-to-hand, as suggested in the program? Cool either way, what are your thoughts on this? I realize doing 2 SHS instead of one H2H would double the time and load, but have you considered it? Thanks!

Mark Just purchased the Swing program. How would you recommend working in the Heavy and Light wave using 16 and 20 kg bell? I’m thinking that after the 6th workout on the 16kg (16x10x16= 2,560) then starting the 20kg bell the next workout as ( 20x10x6= 1,200). Would that be about right? I assume I would then follow all the way down the list of increased time (16x 20 sets, then stop starts for both weights correct? I’m also assuming that when I finish the last 16kg stop start I would then insert a 22 or 24 kg as my new heavy ? Lastly I will be receiving an adjustable kb, would it be best to run the program with 2 or 4 kg jumps Thanks in advance

@cucciafr68
@cucciafr68 2 года назад
You would just insert the swing program in place of the swing exercises you are doing now on M/Th. If you wanted to get to 3 times a week you could add a Saturday with just swings (warmup and cool down as well). If it is a longer workout (20 or 30 minutes) you can reduce the TGU time just so you aren't spending too much time training. But that all depends on you.

Just got the program. One question: you said that this program is part of the "Tetris of Training" in that it should be a smaller part of a larger structure of athletic training. What if there IS no other athletic training. Should we be doing something in addition to this, or is this enough by itself?
@MarkWildman
@MarkWildman 2 года назад
You can do this 2 to 3 days a week. It’s really meant to Tetris with any of my other programs a/b style or abc style. You can pair this with the effective strength and conditioning 2 hand heavy club mill squat program and just be killing it. I’m trying to realease another Tetris piece every month. By. Mad there will be more training than you can do in 5 years . I’ll mod the pdf for this to explain that. I had (apparently) foolishly cut that section because it was pretty long

Hello, love your content. This was an instant buy. I have a question: 1. Approach 3. Is it continuous work or defined reps inside a 90sec window? It is unclear, although on the work sheet there is reps listed. Also, is there a rest period between sets, or is it EMOM style but over 90sec/15min?
@MarkWildman
@MarkWildman 2 года назад
It’s EMOM style. Defined reps inside the 90 second window. Easy in the beginning but when you get toward the 20 rep mark it takes most people more than 60 seconds. So it’s in a 90 second window. So it’s actually physically possible.

If I swap this out for Mark’s swing program, should I just jump in same weight, at the 10 rep 10 min emom or should I increase the weight - maybe to 20kg and drop down to the 6 rep emom and work forward from there. What do folks think ?

Hi, would I able to get some advice on which programme to start with? (Between the Introduction to Heavy Clubs and the Nerd Math Swing Program.) I bought both a 16kg and 8kg kettlebell and club bell, respectively, over the first COVID lockdown. However, I am only able to afford one programme in the next couple months when my student loan comes through. Which is better long term and which will get me further until I graduate and get a real job (hopefully).
@70122riley
@70122riley 2 года назад
To answer your question directly, it probably heavily depends on what your experience level with the implements and your personal goals. The club program is cheaper (+) and covers a lot of rotational stuff (+) but you only have one club that you might outgrow quickly ( - ). The KB program you have an option for H/L days (+), it's more expensive ( - ), good for building muscle (+). Obviously I don't know your personal situation, but I would advise against using your student loan for something like this. I haven't purchased either, so I can't properly assess the value, but Mark does an extremely thorough job in his YT videos of laying out the thought/theory behind his programming and I'd assume at least the first 50% of the PDF's are expanding on his video topics. And if you follow that first 50% (aka the videos), it'll probably get you 80% of the way to where you want to be. I'm sure there are unique nuggets of wisdom in there and truly, TRULY do your own thing, but I had a bad habit of using my student loan money for things I wanted instead of needed at times and I wish I wouldn't have. It resulted in times when I had to ration food/not get appropriate supplies, etc. Good luck!

@@MarkWildman On the reshoot of the single hand program I have two thoughts. First, would you be ashamed to release it and put your name on it today? Not to say that you weren’t proud of the work then but now you know more and have higher standards and old videos may not meet your standard today, that is something only you can judge. Second, Chris Schwarz, a woodworker and publisher, made a few statements about redoing work/ remaking a part “Should I … , if you have to ask the question you already know the answer.” And then he talks about the times that he didn’t just redo it and spend a bunch of time trying to made it work and then threw it away anyways and started over. You shot the video a year ago and have not edited it, does something about it that displeases you? Before going forward you should know problem the better camera/reshoot would fix.
