I tried Brett's Select at a private game last weekend. Like you said, it's truly a night and day difference. Just need to get rid of that knuckle-duster on the grip.
Something I pointed out on Dr Flux's video that I feel a need to point out again is the fact that the head of the Ultra Pinpoint dart looks remarkably similar to the head of the Mega Accustrike dart. I just found that really interesting.
Maybe it's the most reliable design that isn't stealing DZ's waffle heads? If Nerf were to standardize Accustrike, solid flat top heads would be the most likely
Thankfully, the Pinpoint darts have been listed on Amazon, and those are the same price as the original Ultra darts. That's still 50 cents a dart, but hey, at least it isn't more.
i just bought one today for quite cheap compared to prices here in Hungary, it was 14 000 huf so 45dollars and 10 cents in a local tesco just like 5-7 bucks more than the flyte cs-10 european blue-yellow version, it was an instant buy.
So this Literally a MP40/1 in Nerf? For those that don't know, the MP40/1 was a prototype SMG made by Germany in 1944, as a way to give a MP40 more firepower, by doubling its magazine capacity.
@@rogerramiussergeialexander5541 I feel like that's easily fixed with a stronger spring indent or something. I didn't feel like it was a big enough issue that it detracted from the blaster itself.
Roger Ramius Sergei Alexander Chiang MacClintock yes actually, they had problems with the magazines detaching Mid firing, which would damage the bolt, and stop the firing of the weapon.
I feel like this blaster should be reborn into the zombie strike line as it is the "gimmick line" (or better yet just be n-strike) and would be better as it would use normal / waffle head darts that, well, aren't ultra darts.
Its like an Ultra version of your Paradigm shift! Overall, I feel that the pump-change system for the magwells is freaking CLEVER. if you're able to fire it one handed, and change out one magwell while firing the other one would be so badass. and then the other way around with the pump-change! also, that fire rate is anemic.
I mean the main benefit I see with the mag swap idea is that you can refill mags while always having a dart in the barrel, kinda giving you the best of both worlds in terms of mag vs. barrel fed blasters
COST CUTTING ALERT!! What's the deal with the molded attachment tooth, versus the separate piece and spring, or even just the solid separate piece? God, literally anywhere they can... they will.
10:30 This has been my opinion of the entire Ultra line so far. Every blaster would have been far cooler if it used the darts we were already familiar with, rather than the experimental (and highly expensive) Ultra darts. An Elite-firing Select would be an amazing HvZ primary with two Raider drums slapped on it but we're currently limited to either Ultra or half lengths without chopping up the shell and fabricating a new magwell. I guess it'd work with Tachis if you wanted a high-ish capacity. Love the blaster, hate the ammo. At least people were able to do cool things with the Ultra 2.
It’ll take more than this to convince me to invest in Ultra. With Dart Zone making half length blasters and Rival still having good stuff, why do you need an Ultra blaster?
You could see the original Ultra darts coming out sideways on the distance test, as apposed to the pinpoint's being relatively straight. This would be a great buy at on sale price, especially if you already have an Ultra mag fed blaster. I really like the new vids and the in box back drop is cool af.
Still disappointing that Ultra uses N-Strike rails instead of the vastly superior Rival rails. Also, ffs Nerf. Why have you not switched to Accustrike style darts by default yet???
@@saturn9488 Problem with that argument is Nerf made and sold standalone attachments specifically for Rival rails, and they are far better and more stable than any N-Strike/Modulus attachments
I ... I .. actually like this one. There. I said it. I wished it took standard nerf rounds and standard nerf mags though. (3D printed mods no doubt incoming)
Managed to pick up two of these for 25 each (plus a set of 20 pinpoints for like, 4), as my first anything battery powered. For -that- kind of cash they're a steal - I literally could not find anything battery operated for cheaper, and they're functionally a 20 round package each with the actually good darts. The MSRP of 60 for one though...probably wouldn't have gotten these if they weren't -so- cheap
Hey Walcom, do you plan to refire every single Ultra Blaster with the new Ultra Pinpoint darts? Maybe the Ultra 2 wouldn't be so bad now. Dr Flux showed that Ultra Pinpoint is at it's best when shot out of springers.

the way i see this useful, is the idea of having a psychological warfare function: use screamers to concern your enemy and then storm them with an accurate shot suddenly out of nowhere

I might pick it up and convert it to shoot either standard elites or short darts just because the dual magazine setup is really interesting. It's also nice that Ultra has some merit after all, even if it's far too expensive to actually stay with Ultra darts proper.
Thanks for your review, the looks of the Ultra Select reminds me a lot of the just announced Dart Zone Pro MK-3, specially the barrel. I can't wait to see your review of that beast, hopefully you get one early.
Love the new background layout, I still feel like most ultra blasters are genuinely good, the Pharos with a half dart kit hits 200+ fps as does the amp as you've shown in live streams the ammo just sabotages them, so it becomes a question of whether the initial cost is worth the mod potential. The selects mobile mag well is super cool though.
Imagine buying this thing for 60 dollars when you can just get the semi-auto Tomahawk for 20 dollars with better range, waffleheads, and a 60 round drum.
11:09 u don’t have 2 use 2 ammo types. U can just buy another pack of pinpoint days and put those in the blaster. What’s more is that the second magazine is completely exposed, meaning u can reload it without having 2 take it out of the magazine well. In other words, the select offers the upsides of magazine blasters without any of the drawbacks, and is overall just genius. I don’t think it could single handily revive the ultra lineup, not by a long shot; the whole lineup would need retooling b4 that could even b considered. But it’s an actually compelling blaster that is useful in a way u wouldn’t realize until u started thinking abt it
Nerf probably assumes you will be holding by the front grip if you are running and gunning. Also the pinpoints probably come out faster initially because something to do with it being a flywheeler.
Dude, love the backgrounds in your new digs! Totally agree, this thing has so much potential for mods, I'm excited to see what people come up with for it.
