It's really a shame most of the jazz musicians from the UK scene don't get much attention here in the states. They are KILLING it over there. Modern jazz is alive and well.
@@thetrickisirarelyrespond5945 I know a bit of time has passed since you posted your request so you may already have discovered these artists. All of them are well worth a listen:- Kokoroko, Maisha, Go Go Penguin, Matthew Halsall, Floating Points. Hopefully YT's algorithms will give you some more suggestions.
@@thetrickisirarelyrespond5945 2 years late but i hope these suggestions still serve you: Ezra Collective, Ebi Soda, Moses Yoofee Trio, Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange, Abase, Moses Boyde, Okvsho
What an amazing band. I absolutely love this contemporary London jazz scene; I get to know one or two musicians from one project, go listen to one of their many projects and find 5, 6, 7 new musicians whose projects are just as great. I was drawn to Nérija because I knew (and loved) Nubya's work, now I have a lot more amazing musicians to explore :) Can't wait to see them here in Berlin in a couple of weeks.
Inga Eichler: D Bass (Rio Kai is current D Bass player also in Seed Ensemble) Liz Exell: Drums Nubya Garcia: T Sax (Maisha, Theon Cross & others) Cassie Kinoshi: A Sax (Seed Ensemble & Kokoroko) Sheila Maurice-Grey: Trumpet (Seed Ensemble & Kokoroko) Shirley Tetteh: Guitar (Maisha) Rosie Turton: Trombone
I wish more of the great musicians out there would just take the time to make a video like this. I went to Amazon and saw that they have a MP3 of this music and I bought it....
The story of the fisherman. Ahh so refreshing. He goes out at see early in the morning to go fish for new adventures. Then suddenly out of nowhere he catch something. But what is it. It's bigger than he anticipated. Then the storm also catches a glance at him. Oh boy! He exclaimed with a daunting yet joyful grin on his face he sets out towards land again. Everything ramps up the wind no the waves the cold air but no he ride on triaonfully then makes it back home safe not sound but ready for tomorrow that is before him.
obsessed with this tune. I've literally listened to it about 115 times in the last two days. Who's the guitarist? I remember seeing her in some of the earlier iterations of Kokoroko..
Late to the party, BUT I DIG IT! Again, Lizy Exell keeping it all togetha' on dem drums! And Nubya killed that tenor sax solo. Good stuff, ladies! Love the GROOVE. 👍
