Doctors and nurses are so desensitized by the morbid that all humor just goes. As a nurse i often find myself or my colleagues cracking all kinds of messed up jokes about dying or getting crushed by I-beams (had an amputee who lost their leg from getting crushed by one) over a meal. We'd see month long patient die, clean and pack their bodies, then immediately go back to life as per normal, so really it's just par for the course.

your not missing anything by experiencing those shitty rise and drop rides, went on one when I was young that my sister and her friends also got on with, the adrenaline as you slowly go up and then come down fast af while feeling your guts go up from the force going down, was the worse shit ever. I think I'm just a pretty danger prone person when I'm at places/events to have fun, went to this carnival that set up rides near our area and I was pretty young at the time(like 11 -13), again went with my older sister and her friends, there was a ride that kinda had the shape of a giant pickaxe that would spin in a circle, the row of seats were encased in a metal crosswire shuttle, and the safety for the seats were a rigid drop down harness that was secured by sturdy looking clicking belt buckle, well long story short as the ride picks up speed and it slows at the top while were upside down, my buckle keeping the harness on me just came off, and I almost fall out of my seat on to the wire shuttle fencing, luckily I held on for dear life with my legs and arms to the seat, while my laughing sister opened her eyes and hurriedly brought harness back on to me. lol the fear was so much I really can't remember how long I was holding on for as my sis was trying to connect the belt buckle to the harness, I think after 4 times the ride did full spins did it finally stopped, i can't remember after getting off of it but the feelings I do, basically didn't talk for the rest of the night from the shock of it.

The last time I was on a Tower of Terror I realized shortly before the fall that the safety thing was slightly loose, faling to snap in. Fun memories.
