It's drum & bass!!! Nero's early stuff was all drum & bass.. I used to love it because it had such a deep, dark side to it so I can see why people get confused. Tracks like Autopsy & Bad for the Brain were heeeeeavy but awesome!! This wasn't too long after it I don't think.. I love the way they established their own style which was so different to most of the rest of the scene. I knew they'd be big when I first heard & bought the Requiem lp (with said tracks on it). Check it out if you've never heard it.. Surprised they followed the more dubstep route though but still, massive respect due!!! :)
D&B = drum AND bass and usually fast tempo Dubstep = Emphasized, dark, heavy bass and sub bass Drumstep = Mixture of the two with the drum beats occuring about half as much as dnb. Fucking hell the names are pretty much self explanatory.
its all good by me, Nero is Nero and they are amazing whether they do DnB, Dubstep, Drumstep or anything else! its all beautiful and too amazing to be argued about! MUSIC IS MUSIC, Genres don't define the sound, the sound defines the love and effort put into each beat!
@zenthex1234 nice peice of history there friend. Ive enjoyed the evolution of jungle & d&b for a good amount of time, it took to my ears first in the early 90s and ive always had a strong passion for the sound. I dont think it will ever be far away from my heart. Do you like the story of the sound so far?
Real forward thinking producers. Also loving the eclectic electronic sounds of peeps like Chase and Status, Magnetic Man, Burial, Kode 9, Eskmo, Jamie Woon, DJ Pinch, Dub FX, Dan Le Sac and Scroopius Pip, AllFlaws
@torch400 DnB was origionally used in videogames before becoming an actuall genre. during which time it evolved. people starting adding more and more bass, untill eventually you get the shit we now call dubstep. not too many artists still make DnB because people forgot what it's all about.
Been a huge NERO fan ever since the release of Guilt last year, but I had no idea they had all this older stuff, and there's me sitting with the entire Welcome Reality album thinking I've heard everything they have to offer. Lol, I ain't even scratched the surface...
In my opinion I think those people who want to argue about what genre the song is should keep there opinions to themselves. Through i have just said that you can clearly tell this is drum and bass. Just because Nero is a predominantly Dubstep artist doesn't mean he doesn't switch between the two. Basically, Just enjoy the music really, RU-vid would be much better if it was more constructive. Like Soundcloud
@zenthex1234 Interesting and true. All synthesized sounds originated from computers, so indeed video games. The sounds we now associate with great music like Drum & Bass and indeed Dub-step came from the basic video game sound. Tunes like the original Tetris, and if you want to go way back, remember PONG. As for musical evolution, yes drum and bass had origins in Reggea sound and rythmn, which then evolved into Jungle music, which in turn then became Drum&Bass in the late80s and early 90s. X
@bojoTCS innit mate, best way to avoid being put into a stereotype is to just not care about them. liking all music regardless of what 'type' of person likes it.
@RawGreenTheAnimator no dubstep and drum and bass are completely separete. they are starting to sound similar. thats why they have stuff like drumstep.
@DrewJPS Well, I did find out how to do it, but (at least in firefox) you also have to chose "Highlight all" or it wont show anything. Helpful answer btw. >.>
Guys guys guys.. This is drum & bass and NOT dubstep.. If you really want to make it more complicated, I can accept people calling it drumstep.. With an emphasis on drum. And the people saying Nero only is dubstep, that's simply not correct.. They have done both dubstep AND DnB.. A really famous of their DnB tracks is Electron and don't come and tell me that's dubstep.. Cause I will hit you in the face.. And just for the record, I like both DnB and dubstep. Dr.
Aye damn straight, people get well too worked up about genre classification, it closes your mind to some of the great music out there cause you just think "aww i can't be seen listening to that!"
@hugothenerd Drumstep isn't a genre. It's a subgenre of drum and bass. Drumstep is just a darker, half-time version of drum and bass, with influences from dubstep.
@landreux1 its called a passion, specificly a passion for music, and some people have it. so to people that have a musical passion for DnB it does matter
wow your so technical maaan... can't belive he thought this was dubstep..just wow man you have got some time on your hands snazzy. to make that comment by the way it does sound like quite a few songs I've heard listing to dubstep snazzy masterbaiter and commander hahah . .
i feel kinda old when i read the comments about "dubstep" because i still remember the days (and its about two years ago) when everybody knew what is dnb and nearly nobody knew dubstep and I had to explain everybody what dubstep is )))
just google youtube to mp3 downloader or something, its free, all you need to do is copy and paste the link into whatever program you go for and the tune downloads in a couple of minutes, great way to get some new tracks!
@NASkeywest DnB and dubstep are not brothers, at most they are cousins. DnB uses MUCH more drums and tends to have a much more organized beat, while dubstep tends to use a lot more non-drum bass and is almost ALWAYS slower paced
