I had this NES bartop Idea after seeing the release of the Nintendo Classic, especially when they’re so hard to find in stores and prices are so high in the aftermarket.
Sideart was printed by Joe Szabo from Szabo’s Arcades. Once again, he came through with fantastic work and quick shipping.

Tomee NES to USB Adapter - totally plug and play in Windows 7. No driver install necessary, I was really impressed with these: amzn.to/2vC3pwT
Zero Delay Encoder for interfacing buttons - worked very well: amzn.to/2vC2lJe

For all the people complaining about sound - I'm not an expert in making videos. This is one of the first videos I have ever made and wouldn't have known at the time how to balance audio. I will be sure to learn how and work better on keeping the noise level better moderated in future videos.

@ugzz
@ugzz 7 лет назад
I was reading this comment wearing headphones and was turning it up, then the saw started and i realized what the complaints were for lol. Eh, it's how you learn. i can't make videos for shit either, but you might consider putting a warning about the jarring volume transitions in so headphone users don't blow their ears out. That is one badass project, and i'm glad to have watched it.

DirkMade How much did it end up costing? And how long did the whole project take?
@DirkMade
@DirkMade 7 лет назад
SPENCER HEISLER I re-used a lot of stuff and had the screen already so cost is hard to really compute. Outside of drying time, maybe 10 to 12 hours all combined? There's lots of things to do though if you are making artwork, computer setup, planning controls, etc.

Phil Pinsky Productions it'd easer than it seems! get some big bords of card from the supermarket "for free" and work out a good design...copy that on to 1cm ply cut it out by hand saw, then a rasburry pi zero 3 and some zero delay joy stick board 2 cheap sticks and 6 to12 buttons 1 start p1 p2 you can pick up a cheap screen from a boot sale... I did my one for under £50!

Years later and I still keep coming back to watch this build. I still have dreams of building my own one day. I have been hoarding laptops and parts over the years. I want mine to house a 32 inch tv though and the control panel to have arcade sticks with 2 buttons for each player. Your build is the only build that comes close to what I'm looking for when it comes to a bartop build. I want a bartop for ever console ever made and will end up building them, I just need to keep pushing myself forward 😆.

You should totally make and sell the cabinet parts as a template for DIYers with no real woodworking skills. In other words, let me know if you ever decide to sell templates.

I just found this video and I like how everything went along and worked out great in the end. I also like how everything is customized. You didn't take any shortcuts in this project and it ended with an awesome unit. My biggest horror with every project are the labels. No matter how careful and planned you are, air bubbles and wrinkles work hard to get you. At first, I thought the controllers would have looked better if they were customized as well and you could have given them the NES look with a printed controller panel. But then I realized that the authentic controllers gave it that nice nostalgic look. Great work and video.

amazing, the only thing i'd suggest is using a heat gun (or hair dryer) to pull the vinyl around the edges, this let's them have a bleed under the edging for appearance, seals better because the heat activates the adhesive better, and proofs it against peeling up and ruffling.
