I picked up an NES lot off of eBay for $53. Over the next few videos we'll be cleaning, fixing, and retrobrighting the system and all the pieces.
In this video we'll concentrate on the NES Controllers. There are six in total, and all could use some cleaning and repair. We're going to take all of them apart, identify the issues, and do our best to fix them.

This is the only video that actually shows any kind of real repair. The others just clean the damn things.

I think the footage quality could be better, but your channel is still underrated nonetheless. This helped me clean my NES Controller, and is pretty fun to watch either way. You earned yourself another subscriber.

Thank you for your videos. I recently took out of storage my 33 yr old NES and this is helpful 👍 having alot of fun and ordered some games I don't have. My system only works with the Game Genie. I think the 72 pin connector has a build up of oxidation and dirt causing this issue but everything works and having a ball 😁

Thanks for this. Do you ever have problems with the decal coming loose when soaking or retrobrighting the controllers?

Whats the UV light for Sir? And what brand or type uv light do you recommend, I just got an old NES myself and its controllers are kinda nasty too. Thanks

Got an NES with one controller really cheap as according to the seller it has been sitting in an attic for 30 or so years. They couldn't find the rest of their games yet nor the power supply so the latter I had to find my own for now. Hopefully they'll find it soon enough. Man, it took me an hour to clean my NES controller but it was well worth it, it's as responsive as ever! I'll have to look into the system itself later on the line, though. Too bad I don't have easy access to Hydrogen Peroxide for Retrobrighting...it has such a dull gray color it almost makes you sad when you look at it. But oh well, will have to do for now. Loved this video by the way, straight to the point with great footage, you've got yourself a new sub!

The plug-in end on my NES controller has corrosion in it do you have any idea how I can clean that? Thank you very much if you respond

I am having the same problem. I haven't found any answers yet, but one thing that has helped me is if you plug and unplug numerous times combined with blowing into the plug in bit many times as well. it should help at the very least, but it isn't a proper way.

Do you use the 12% hydrogen peroxide straight out of the bottle or do you dilute it with water?

I used it straight out of the bottle at 12%.

Is there graphite dust that must remain on the pads for button connectivity? Or is that incorrect information?

The black spots have to stay because that causes the connection yes
