Talash originally was an album of Junoon came in 1993 in which this song Talash was sung by Ali Azmat and it was a massive hit. The whole album was pur gold. I just wish if you could react on the original song. The song was a socio-political rock song
The song is originally by Pakistan's original Sufi rock band called Junoon, which was once called the U2 of South Asia, consisting of Vocalist Ali Azmat, Brian O'Connell on bass, Salman Ahmed the lead guitar, Nusrat Hussain on keyboards(90's), Taylor Simpson drums(since 2018). Check out their discography, you'll love it I'm sure of it. Have an awesome one.
This song has nothing to do with sufi rock. They did this song before they re-invented themselves as a sufi rock band. It's from their early career when they were straight up hard rock band. A product of the late80s and early 90s rock and metal music/culture. Frankly I prefer their pre-sufi rock era. That anger and critciism towards the establishment and state institutions started fading away when they became sufi rock. Or rich to be precise lol
Singer is from the song sweet child of mine. The guitarist is pretty young guy, but the song and the guitar solo itself is from the late 1980s early 1990s when Pakistani Rock bands used to Rock hard.
This song's music is nothing like the original song's music which was given by legendary Salman Ahmed and Brian O' conelle who was a white american but settled in Pakistan and was a part of the band all along. It was more rockus and heavy.
Thank you for your videos! The band who did this originally is called "Junoon"... Check out the original (almost 30yrs old, and still holds up) and given your love of the tabla, also check out their tabla / guitar masterpiece - "Heer". With love from Chicago! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ARBV_N8gbBY.html
John I like listening to Pakistani music through your lens because you provide a fresh perspective, since you are a music guy already. Keep up the good work. I think you should visit Pakistan this year. Especially check out the northern regions.
Mirza Sahibaan by Arif Lohar is one of my favourites. Its an old one and quite trippy but it reminds me of Hey Boy Hey Girl by the Chemical Brothers. I didn't realise how bananas it was until I read the subtitles. Still think its lovely though
