Nesowadnehunk Stream is a tributary of the West Branch Penobscot and its source is the Nesowadnehunk Lake, which is 1368 acres in size.
From this lake, it runs through Baxter State Park for nearly 12 miles and empties in the the West Branch.
I began fishing just south of the dam and ran into some very thick foliage and a skinny stream. Brook Trout was still present but I departed after a short hour to fish section further south along Perimeter Road.
This is a great stream to practice your fly fishing skills as I found the Brookies eager to attack both dry flies and nymphs.
The views were spectacular and the park is well worth an extended visit to explore the waters and hiking trails that don’t disappoint.
