Thank you for this video. It's beautifully shot shot and I love being able to see the sighter signal strikes. Could you tell me what part, in general, of the Savage River you were fishing?
Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you can find some enjoyment of the river as I did. Find a spot near any part of the river and observe the fish surfacing in the evening. They will be there during the day, too!
Try all of the openings along the Golden Road. The Salmon move depending on water temp and season. I went back to that same spot a month later and skunked. Key is to get the nymphs down in the water column. I would recommend a good floating indicator with a tandem nymph rig in deeper water during the day and dries during the evening for hatches. However, some of these salmon took to my dry fly indicator during the day. Good luck!
I did one time on mousam lake middle of April tossed out a nightcrawler on a bobber at night. I went at 6:00 in the morning to check Pole and I have a 18 inch brook trout! I never caught a trout that big before. 😅

Nice fish. That one got some hang time it jumped so high. Next time I'm in New Hampshire fishing, I'll have to give this place a try. Thanks for the info.
I recognized where you were fishing immediately...I can't wait to get back there. End of April through May into June, introduce yourself you'll recognize me I'm hard to miss 6'4 - 280lb can't walk very well will probably be using a chair just below the falls..thanks again for the awesome video.
That is awesome! Great video! I kayak fish the ER, where was this? Very cool, thank you for posting this video. I guess they were looking for Redfish also!!!
Why kayak apex predators waters? They tower over a kayak, and can easily flip you, jump on you. The increase of kayakers getting attacked are rising, big fish are figuring it out.. hors d'oeuvres on a thin platter, with complementary toothpick paddle. You have big brass cajones or a death wish Ace! Stay safe.
I avoid Great White, Orca and other higher risk waters. This area does have Bull and Tiger sharks from time to time, but the risk is very low and I mitigation risks through various actions (float plan, safety gear, equipment, fishing techniques, etc…). Not 100% safe but neither are many other common life tasks. I’ll take your prayers for my safety, though! Thanks!
There’s always fish by the rigs where people throw stuff, but there’s also lots of sharks. Not sure where you’re at or how much danger you’re in but I wouldn’t kayak that.
I’ve been a few times and found the rigs plentiful with a variety of species and other times void of life. If I see sharks I typically move to the next rig or use artificials. They are good at getting the bait before the other game fish.
