I’m saving money by just buying instant coffee…you can literally make anything with it. Safeways instant coffee in a big jar is my fave. I whip the powder into a little bit of warm water with a cheap electric whisk to make it all foamy and then add more water & half n half and coffee syrups. I’m about to get rid of my nespresso - I took a break from it only to come back to it all moldy even when I left it clean.
Yeah I started packing my own pods with good coffee once and then I realized I might as well just get an actual espresso machine since I’m basically doing the work anyway. The pods are for convenience. If you’re going to do all that, just get an espresso machine and have better coffee.
@@lol_youtube absolutely. The actual espresso machine makes much better coffee, but it's larger and more expensive and requires a good grinder, which is also expensive. Good coffee though! I still use my Nespresso machine too though. Sometimes I need a coffee right now and can't be waiting for the boiler to heat up and measuring beans to grind etc. 😂
You have to grind it way thinner than that, in fact in this video, despite producing the nice "crema" the coffee looks very watery. That kind of coarse grinding is good for the Moka Bialetti style or drip coffee makers. As in regular espresso makers the grinding as to be very thin. Also if you open a new Nespresso pod as a reference, you can see how thin the coffee is ground.
@@Rygo-wk3jm I use a Delonghi grinder, so i do not know how to compare with your. I did a bit of trial and error, first matching the size of the ground coffee from a Vertuo pod. Then I tried a little thinner and thicker to find the one that came out more dense. it depend on the type of coffee, because they all are of a different consistency. I used Illy Intenso. So you have just to try grinding small batches of coffee to test.
This is garbage. Does not taste the same at all. And the whole point is to just pop a pod and get coffee. I bought a nespresso so I don’t have do any work. 😂 so dumb
Seems pointless.I have other ways to make coffee with plain grounds. Pour over, aeropress, french press etc. The point is, grabbing a pod and off you go
Why? If ingenuity can get you an upgraded experience, I say go for it. And it’s less of a throw away product if reusing them actually works. Regular coffee and espresso - definitely different experience.
This is not a hack, people with half a brain have been doing this for years. You’ll by a pump and compressor. That’s the goal of the equipment. Next grind your own coffee and buy from Amazon a reusable pod. Job done
@@Ellewatch-y3j yes it happened to me. Just make sure to not over pack it. That solved the issue for me. And I flushed the needle and got the grinds out
Thanks I just got my nespresso and frother from goodwill for 10.00 so this will come in handy. I was floored when I saw both were new and only 9.99 for an almost 279.00 set.
I found a machine for $7.99 @ Goodwill. I had to purchase the water tank ($16). Under $25 for a $180-$200 machine!! I can't wait to see if it works. I called the company and they said they'd troubleshoot with me via video call.
I dont know about the taste, personally i find that these pod machines are average in terms of flavour. If you want good taste then invest in a decent mokka pot or go all out and buy something like a breville barista express its on another level.
use a silicone lid so you can reuse it. What the point of reusing your pod with non-reusable lids ? Those + the cheap coffee gonna cost the same price than a regular capsule. Useless.
Regular coffee making does not produce the crema that the machine creates. Nespresso coffee is also not nearly as tasty as my fav coffee. So to combine my fav coffee with the Nespresso machine to create crema I can have the best of both worlds.
@@suras8984the “crema” is nothing but air from the rapid spinning of the capsule. Don’t be fooled. Throw your coffee in the blender and you’ll get a similar result.
I prefer the Vietnamese drip metal cup that you put on top of your mug. Your going to get more flavor out of your coffee than this. That was very light.
You can find it... ...nevermind. I was going to tell a funny joke, but just toss the Nespresso in the garbage... buy a actual espress machine. You'll save yourself a hell of a lot more money and time than doing this. This... no... just "no."
Naw, it's going to be extremely weak tasting. Gotta be a very fine grind. That's drip coffee maker grind. You will only get a fraction, maybe 60% of the flavor extraction with this method. Just put your grounds in a grinder and pulse it a 5-8 seconds to get it right 👍
This method can damage the machine big time. Also I don’t understand why buy a nespresso machine only to be using your own coffee? Regular coffee maker does that just fine. Going through all the trouble of doing this makes zero sense to me. Nespresso coffees are amazing tasting and quite on the stronger side, definitely not for everyone that is for sure!
For the extra effort you’ve put in you might have been better off with a small espresso machine. The bar code under the rim, as I’m sure you know, is specific to the blends Nespresso puts in the various pods and determines dwell time, water and brew times. But it’s nice to see people trying work-arounds.
Listen, I’ve tried this before and let me just say that the machine is an unnecessary expense if you do this. It doesn’t make your ground coffee taste better than a French press would. If you purchase this machine is cause you’ll buy the capsules. Doing this actually causes the machine to break faster because the glue comes off when wet and causes particles of coffee to clog it and if that happens you will have wastes a couple hundred on an expensive overrated machine, and that’s coming from someone that uses the machine daily lol.
This doesn’t work. The Venturo pod spins. When you replace the top, it doesn’t let it spin. I spent 37 on Amazon for the wooden gizmo like this. When I took the lid off the one I made, it only went thru the middle coffee. All other coffee was dry. Sorry, my experience.
Why wouldn’t it work? You just put whatever shit dirt into it and put a seal back on The whole emphasis is that the nespresso reads the bar code under the lip of the capsule; that’s the essential thing to retain, not all this other crap that gets put out
These dont make esspresso, the make something "like esspresso." You can do that with a moka pot and a cheap hand grinder, for cheaper, and not have to hack anything, and use your own coffee, and be more sustainable.
What's the point of buying a brand spanking new car and not putting only premium gas in it? Because if you're car doesn't require Premium gas then you're just wasting wasting money because it won't change performance of the car.
Things happen. Sometimes you’re between shipments. Most people like to order in bulk and sometimes, you need to wait a while until your pocketbook says that it’s okay to make a $100 order for coffee. This person is going to get a watery mess because the grind is much too coarse. There is no way they get a robust cup out of this. But some people aren’t as picky. I have one of these sets and used it every now and then. You will need to grind the coffee really fine and choose a nice blend. I don’t have the space for another coffee machine. I prefer a pour over cup to this method but it can be handy sometimes.
