"Nessun Dorma" Onew 온유 Performance Reaction 

I was hoping this would be posted tonight! I love this one so much. His voice is an incredible gift! It's important to know that he is self taught. He never received any operatic training. Onew's voice is always such a pleasure to hear and I think is one of the most distinctive and recognizable in Kpop. Just hearing his voice, there is no doubt it's him. I don't claim to know much about opera, but I absolutely love Nessun Dorma. Long before I knew who Onew was, I loved listening to Pavarotti sing it. Thank you for reacting to this!

And now you know why Onew first Album is called "VOICE"

There are five young kpop singers whom I love with the most distinctive voice, Onew, Lee Hong Ki, Sandeul and Junsu, and Jonghyun, their vocals are so legendary you know who they are the minute they open their mouth... I remember when Onew told everyone he could sing this song, he was on Star King and they had a professional Opera singer there and he just was there and the MC told him show us and he sang it sitting down without preparation, the opera singer was so impressed, a year later he did this version on their concert.

Yes you are so right, Onew actually is a stage actor. He has starred or co-starred in several musical productions over the years, and right now, as part of the military, he is a member of the military's production team and he is starring with several other members of Idol groups who are also serving in the military, in a musical. One of the things Onew and Key are known for is their stage acting, so they have the training and vocal ability to be able to project to the back of the theater without a whole lot of effort. Which is what you heard with Onew's performance of "Neesun Dorma." :D

Awesome, he does have a powerful voice. I'm pleasantly surprised and very happy to have heard this. If I'm not a connoisseur on every version of "Nessun Dorma" since the 70's when I first discovered opera I don't know who is. My love still stands with Pavoratti. Onew has a slight nasal sound to his voice, but gotta give it to him. This is my first Puccini I fell in love with, learned all the words, and blasted on headphones in high school. And yeah, blasted Led Zeppelin on other days. Bravo Onew!!

Onew has such an amazing and powerful voice. Whenever I hear someone sing Nessun Dorma and they’ve sung it masterfully & beautifully, I get goosebumps all over (& I’ve heard some subpar singers).
