My sister & i are twins. We were adopted when we were babies. Our foster mother was elderly (in her 70s) & wanted to adopt us, so parents were found at speed... mum & dad wanted to have twins because they were on the older side... so they were only given a week's notice that the two of us were joining the family ❤ Everyone had to jump to in order to get 2 of everything... Mum says she didn't sleep for the first year or two because we tag teamed one asleep and one screaming.. We always had each other, but i wouldnt say we are close or share interests. But if one is in trouble the other will be there❤ my sister is headed down here in a day or two because my cleaner has stolen my important jewellery...! She comes to cheer me up & do a couple of things to help out... Good luck with your cleaning and clearing, and nesting. You will be great & your muddle is nothing. Mine is a horror trove. My boxes are endless here & at my mum's. My chronic fatigue doesn't help. Here in the uk its a lot harder for older children (5 years and older) to get adopted. What you are doing is wonderful & you will both be great parents to your bundle of joy. ❤❤❤❤
My apartment is a mess too... I crochet and craft, have a teen daughter who also crafts and 2 cats. I'm planning to pack 40 boxes and have a wire shelf of clear bins full of stuff plus bins of yarn. Luckily the church has a room for OCC donations that I can drop off my extra crochet stuff at
When you mentioned nesting, I just had to pop in here and tell my story of nesting... but it was my husband, not me! It was when we were waiting for our 4th child, who happened to be our second adopted child. Her room had been used for storage, and was full to the gills with odds and ends. In January of 1980, suddenly my husband was anxious to get that room cleaned out. He was a crazed man on a mission, and we had not even been given a date as to when our daughter would arrive! We got in there and cleaned, purged, organized, pained, wall-papered and got everything ready. It wasn't until a couple of months later that we learned our daughter had been born the very week that Dave was "nesting!" She'd had open heart surgery, which was the reason we hadn't been notified earlier. (Turned out our cat was born on the same day! We called them our Siamese twins, lol.)
Don't feel bad, your house is much more organized than mine! My dining room table is sky high with OCC stuff & my spare room is packed full of OCC items in an unorganized way! 🤗😊 You got this!!
How exciting! Bless you! I love seeing you still have some of the wooden rulers! I binge watch the Minimal Mom and my closet is still overflowing with my OCC fillers. Who knew shoebox sized toys could take up so much space! (but such necessary FUN!) I sympathize! : ) Lisa
First me and now your cousins 😆 Such a busy time with visits for you! No shame in the clutter! You wouldnt want to see my basement 😆 Glad I was able to help you alleviate some of your OCC packs. 😉 Really looking forward to putting them in boxes. Thanks for the updates on your adoption journey. So excited to hear about your kiddos!
Ok, so hopefully I will make you feel better about the state of your house! Around the beginning of this year, I discovered the RU-vid videos of OCC packing, and I got inspired and decided to really ramp up my shoebox production. So I started shopping with the after Christmas clearance sales and I haven't stopped. Only today did I start packing my first box, and haven't finished it because I have not organized everything and couldn't find my pencil packs or rulers or scissors or little girl socks. I have enough stuff to do over 100 boxes, and it's in boxes and bins that are stacked in the two bedrooms where my now-adult children used to live. So it's very hard to get to the boxes on the bottom! Anyway, I enjoyed your adoption update, and I'm praying for you throughout your journey 💕
🤪 welcome to the OCC crazy!!! I hope you find the organization style that fits your packing style! I like using drawers and under the bed storage if that helps. ❤️❤️
No need for apologies when we all probably have the same rooms overflowing ...Just need to get the items in boxes so they can do the work of the gospel. You always inspire me to get on with it.
Love watching your journey do you have a garage or tuff shed even so you are doing amazing i hope you get a daughter the one thing i can say from having a son and daughter is that the girls end up being daddies girls and boys just have there mommas heart and u think the word you were looking for is shampooing your carpet. Your friend from New Mexico ❤
I loved this peek into your behind-the-scenes life. And you mess is more organized than my clean has ever been. LOL Anyway... I love your plans for the future. You can do it!! Hugs Hugs Hugs! Glad you had fun with your company!
For some reason I honestly thought it was going to be seriously a disorganized disaster. Your house is orderly and functional. Looks as if you’re doing what you are, which is some positive changes. Hope you get a girl. I have no doubt your children will be greatly blessed!
A lot of work but going to be so worth it. I noticed some packers have set up their storage area and packing in their garage, have you thought about doing that?
I am so excited for you two. Thanks for the tour! I have a shoebox room too that needs to be organized. Hopefully this weekend. 🤞 Keep up the good work! 👍 😊
