Anyone who's noticed a theme with netanyahu and his political decline? Whenever he's become unpopular with his own people, hamas is miraculously there with their bombings to bolster his approval with the people. It's happened one too many times to be written off as coincidence.
There's also the possibility that Hamas takes advantage of their divisive opposition, about to be losing power to a more moderate opponent who will advocate for two state, (by closing the political eye), which we know many Palestinians also do not want, particularly the abundant radicals. Because then they couldn't justify their aggression in which they have every intention to pursue.
@@F8LDragon2 You know there are radicals on both sides - there as just as many jews who never want peace with Arabs as there are Arabs who don't want peace with jews. Our only hope is for moderates on both sides to be elected to power.

Jar Jar Binks would say.... Meesa friends, democracy is muy muy important. In the grand ol' galaxy, we all need to work together and make decisions as one big happy family. In democracy, everyone gets to speak up and share their thoughts, no matter how different they may be. Weesa know that sometimes things can get messy, like when podracing goes wrong, but that's okay! In democracy, weesa can work through those messes together, and find the best path forward. Everyone's voice is important, and everyone's opinion matters, just like how everyone's favorite flavor of space ice cream matters! So let's all come together, bein' respectful and kind, and work towards making our galaxy the best it can be. Let's listen to each other, and make decisions that benefit everyone, from the Gungans to the Naboo to the Coruscantians and beyond. Democracy is like a big ol' pot of Gungan stew - it's better when we all put our best ingredients in! So let's keep democracy goin', and remember that in democracy, everyone has a seat at the table. Mesa think that's pretty special, and I hope you do too. Thank yousa for listening, and may the Force be with us all!
@@razann8875 The framing of the issue is seriously biased. One cannot truly understand this conflict without a clear grasp of the socio-historicity of Zionism, its concepts and ideas regarding expansionism and 'theft', Zionism religious extremism, and the continued cleansing of the Palestinian people. Recommend books by Profs. Rashid Khalidi, Norman Finkelstein, and to some extent Prof. Benny Morris, as he is often cited as a factual developer of the record, just as his interpretations of said facts may be skewed.
I wouldnt say he was the cause. He just could have done more to prevent it. Its not like he encourged violence against his opponent. And its hard not to agree with him. Thank you for this informational video. A lot of younger people (including myself) don’t remember or weren’t alive for a lot of the history of this conflict.
A Palestinian state was never really part of the plan and any semblance of striving towards it was a sham. Many Israelis have said that the settlements were in direct prevention of an independent Palestinian state. It’s easy (and unfair) to say Arafat declined to agree without explaining what he was being asked to agree to.
I recall watching a documentary-I cannot find it now-wherein Barak showed Arafat a proposed map of the “new and improved” two-state solution, the West Bank still dotted with settlements like chickenpox. Arafat, understandably, was angry; Barak whined that it was just a starting point. How can anything be a starting point with settlements encircling Palestinians? Our focus now is on Gaza. But the West Bank is hell.
He was offered a state on most of the Gaza Strip and West Bank with land swaps. The film said his own people were shocked he didn’t take the deal. What do you think he was offered?

Israel has employed this strategy of disproportionate retaliation for a long time now. For example, in the 2006 war with Lebanon, the "Dahiya doctrine" put a name to an Israeli policy that dictated that that any retaliation must be disproportionate. Given Israel's interests in both the land that Gaza occupies as well as its offshore resources, the extent of their surveillance in the area, and Netanyahu's government's own expressed beliefs about Palestine, it seems almost certain that Netanyahu allowed the Oct. 7 attacks to happen to in order to "retaliate" in this inhumane way and actualize the land and resource grab he's always wanted. Notice that even though the situation is entirely asymmetrical, with Israel wholesale slaughtering Palestinian civilians in hospitals, UN refugee camps, and UN schools, Israel and its supporters still claim that Israel is merely "defending" itself. Without the Oct. 7 attack, Israel couldn't be doing what it's doing right now with such impunity.

As idealistic as it sounds, I think you're right. Except, I agree with the Orthodox Jews who say Jewish people don't need a place to call their own. They see Zionism as a materialistic degradation of Judaism. As a Christian living in America, I'm fine with sharing my country with people of all faiths as equals. This particular conflict does begin at Oslo though as it is one borne out of extremists from both parties rebelling against the peace process. Out of an attempt at peace, came war is the story of the current conflict. And when Hamas and Netanyahu make peace not possible, war becomes inevitable. The general Israel/Palestinian conflict dates to biblical ages and there are sufficient other previous documentaries about that history.
What a worthless comment. You’re sickened because a documentary isn’t what you want it to be? The world doesn’t revolve around you. How about you try reading the title. It is not intended to be a thorough review of the history of this conflict, lol. I’ll have you know that PBS did an excellent six-hour, two part documentary called “the 50 years war: Israel and the Arabs” in 1998. It goes back to the formation of Israel in 1948.
This isn't the story of the whole conflict, it's the story of how Netanyahu sabatoged peace in favor of his expansionist empire. Israel will not tell you where they want Palestinians to go because Israel does not want Palestinians to exist. This is also not to say that Palestinian factions have not bear some of the blame, but Israel, especially under Netanyahu, has been the primary sabatour. The settlements in Palestinian territory is a war crime. It is completely fair to ask that the war crime stop or be reversed before hostilities are ceaced.

Note on the section on camp David ~22:00: For those unfamiliar with camp David, the Israeli offer was the Gaza Strip and an eventual 86% of the West Bank in 3 discontinuous sections what would be connected by Israeli controlled highways, Israel would have full sovereignty over all of Jerusalem including the Temple Mount (and this the dome of the rock and al-aqsa mosque) and would have full control over Palestine’s airspace and borders and reserve the right to deploy troops within Palestinian territory. Barak’s offer was hardly serious, much less “far reaching” as claimed by Martin Indyk (ex-ambassador to Israel, go figure) and Arafat’s team was almost certainly not eager to accept it as claimed by Dennis Ross. Barak’s own foreign minister Shlomo Ben-Ami is on record saying that he himself would have refused the offer were he in Arafat’s position.
Overall, this is an excellent report on how we got to this moment. I hope that many people watch it. The true tragedy is that this could have been prevented, not just in 2023, but since 1948, if the Israeli government had simply treated Palestinians not as a problem, but as people.
I want to empathize with this...however...bitterness over generation it has to come from Allah. Also involved in the controversial 2004 Presidential election that helped elect the second female president.
Because Filipinos are too sympathetic to Christianity. They blindly side with Israel solely based on the bible. They have no idea Judaism are racist and prejudice towards Christians. Filipino news are also controlled by western/israeli corporations. Just like any populations of other countries, they have no time or the need to educate themselves of the real, deep truth of how the world is manipulated and controlled by the few.@@ri0t872
I feel so privileged to have available a trusted source like Frontline to show the unvarnished reality of any situation in the World. Great job guys! The current situation in Israel and with the Palestinians, just shows how you must never let one person be the sole deciding factor in any situation with serious repercussions. Look at the huge single mistake of Arafat and the continuing malaise of Netanyahu's delusional folly of no attempts at a reconciliation and hope of a better future for the Palestinians.
1) Gazans voted to be put a terror organization in charge of them. 2) Hamas charter rejects any reconciliation. It has only one purpose for existance. Their charter says they must destroy Israel as Job One. They reject peace, in writing!
Democrats are doomed---I will never vote for anyone who takes even a penny from AI.PA.C.. Ha.ma.s is also a political party and it to like Li.kud are prone to rhetoric ----Liku.d's charter proclaims "Greater Israel", perhaps Trudeau can tell us how they intend to bring-about "Greater Israel"....
Trash company PBS. Not a documentary. A leftist propaganda piece that whitewashes the liberal failure to provide a solution while pandering to Islamic terrorists. Thanks for deleting all of my comments again PBS 😂😂😂 you and every other leftist channel can keep deleting them, but I won’t stop 😂😂
