That pissed me off cause there was never any mention he had skills, so that just came out of nowhere him being so confident in fighting… it was just a Cobra Kai reference 🤷🏼♀️
Right? I'm in high school and I don't even have time for any of my hobbies anymore.. Not even drawing. While watching the movie all I was thinking about was "what in the wattpad? "
Exactly. Honestly, even though Cameron looks like he smells you're telling me he doesn't have a couple of alternative girl groupies? He's a 2 deep 4 you emo boy.
Funny thing about the original movie. Everyone remembers it as the “girl is ugly until they take off her glasses” movie but they never actually call her ugly. They say she’s unapproachable and hostile but they never say she’s unattractive. It’s just that the makeover scene is so iconic, it’s all people really remember
@@hanaomer4419 Yes but I think people only remember her coming down the stairs without the glasses with Kiss Me playing and the male lead going “wow”. And since it’s been parodied to death nobody remembers the original context.
You’re so right, I think a lot of people always just think of not another teen movie which brings that up and makes fun of it, so many just assume that’s what she’s all that is saying
@@BreezyStreamy You ever think about the amount of ugly makeup that animals died due to the destruction of their environment to harvest those materials for?
Yes I’m definitely paid less than these teens lol what a time to be alive plus the movie wasn’t even good 😭 Addison has probably other skills but acting ain’t one
Hollywood really needs to stop with the “I’m not like other girls” stereotype. Just because they had the male lead have the stereotype doesn’t change the fact that it’s misogynistic and toxic.
It's like "female world is plagued by "not like other girls"...let's plague men's world with it too!". The gender switching is not progressive because it only switches the gender, not the narrative because some ppl don't recognize that different genders are differently positioned in society and have different issues, and history so having this She's All That makeover on a guy is not the same as doing it to a girl like in the original. Gender switching was progressive in like 2013. Let's leave it there.
@@christopherbrown5409 I don't think it's misogyny issue either. It's this similar thing that's going on in guys' world where "sigma males" and incels want to break out from the "alpha male" mold that's widely perpetuated to try to be unique and aloof. God, I wanna kill myself just for typing those stupid terms.
@@christopherbrown5409 They label this things that stereotypically girls would like to do as bad. It is basically saying that women can't enjoy things. If you want a deeper analysis you can look it up.
I’ll never understand why Madison Pettis was a side character in this movie when she can actually act and Addison can’t lol imagine playing second fiddle to a Tik Tokker? I’d be pissed.
In the movie the comments are mostly focused on her snot bubble and a few say she assaulted her bf by throwing pastry at him. Pretty realistic for the more famous partner to get a pass while the less famous one gets trashed, especially if the less famous one is a woman tbh, but yeah, it wouldn't lose her followers or anything
Hell, that happens in real life too. If a girl gets cheated on by a guy, it's her fault for making him steer apparently. If the girl cheats, it's her fault for cheating, which it should be but still - always the girls fault.
i never understood why the “loser” always just sat there and let the “popular” kid douse them in various fluids and let them walk away without catching any hands. i’m sorry but i’d have to drag them, literally and figuratively.
Yeah! Like... bruh that was straight up abuse and violence. The scene where he hit him with the food container so hard got me. I was taken aback. And when they threw him into the the trash can... how didn't he break his tailbone. Others around were laughing and if i was there I would call the cops for him.
@@swooshes897 no cause i’d hit back and say it was self defense then sue them for emotional distress or something. they can’t get away with humiliating and almost hurting me? in what world? 😭
@@user-jj6xp2ln4d i actually never thought of it that way, but you’re totally right because people interpret situations differently. so some little kid might see that abuse and abuse someone themselves thinking there’s no consequences to their actions while some other kid might think they deserve the abuse being inflicted upon them. it’s just a weird thing all around.
I'm not saying that they were the best actors but I think Quinn (one of Addison's friends) and the love interest's friend seem like pretty cool people and I see some romantic potential between them
I feel bad for Tanner Buchanan, the actor who portrayed the male lead. He's in the Cobra Kai show and you can see that he's not terrible when, you know... they give him something good to work with.
My 90s kid perspective: She's All That isn't a great rom-com from the 90s. It's alright, the good thing about it is the cast. Freddie Prinze Jr. was a legit 90s cute boi and he had good chemistry with the girl. The makeover reveal is iconic and Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me" is a certified 90s classic thanks to this movie. This remake... lacks the good cast and the chemistry, and the songs that it has were already featured in better products (Teeenage Dream in Glee, Kiss Me in the original). So they took an "OK" movie and made it a "nothing" movie.
I mean as a teen who saw it in theaters we all agree it wasn't the best teen film..but it was a who's who of prominent and up-and-coming young Stars. It also helped create a lot of tropes that went into films afterwards. I think that was really what we really loved about the film...oh and kiss me was so popular at the time.
In my opinion, the reason She's All That was picked was because it's remembered semi-fondly as in "that was a pretty decent movie, cute romance, attractive actors, whatever" but not as anything groundbreaking and was pretty much a vehicle for the actors. It doesn't have the iconic, untouchable status of Clueless, American Pie, or even Ten Things I Hate About You (which is probably untouchable soully because of Heath Ledger), so they knew no diehard 90s rom-com fans were going to get mad at them for remaking it. Like, I could only imagine the outcry if Addison Rae annouced she was playing Cher in a Clueless remake.
surprisingly enough the ex boyfriend dude’s actor is 22, netflix manage to make him look 37 (the actor of the jughead wannabe is also around 22, Netflix truly has a talent in making them look older for no reason)
@@omw2fybaym ok maybe they didnt want to but somehow had to because Addison wanted to “act” in a movie. So im sure the director could’ve set this up crappy style. Because the original Mean Girl cast are Award winning, 90% experience A1 Actors… not a tik toker that had 10% experience of acting💀
I literally NEVER picked up on the fact that the mom was the original female lead in "She's All That'".. Honestly, I thought that she was one of those new actresses that you'd commonly see playing someone's young-looking mom on Disney channel lol.
Yeah but for some reason they had her play a completely different character than in the original. Her name in this movie is Anne Sawyer and in the original it's Laney Boggs.
@This Asian Kid Is Trash for Dramas uh no she doesn’t. The actress who plays Nebula is Karen Gillan, best known for playing Amelia “Amy” Pond in Doctor Who.
I really appreciate kennie for watching all this garbage so I don't have to. The commentary cracks me up so much that I can stomach the cringe scenes included.
"She then commences to pick up said horse shit with her bare hands, with her hands, and throws it at him, and two people somehow left that stable alive." LMAO when I tell you I had the same reaction LMAO
At one point during the prom royalty crownings the head teacher does an old man yells at cloud and tells them all to put down their phones and actually live the moment and there's like maybe three kids in the audience holding up phones to film it. Everyone else is just there... Which considering how many professional social media influencers there seem to be at that school makes it an even funnier thing for him to complain about Also a the beginning of the movie it shows Pagett using her sponsorship money from her vlog to pay household bills and stuff because she knows her mum is stressed about money and then later completely forgets about that and makes out she was only doing it for the clout and a college fund (which... isn't raising her own college fund a GOOD thing?? How does that make her job bad?)
Social media is extremely complex. There are toxic, unrealistic standards as there are genuine and touching aspects of it. Personally, when a teen movie reduces the nuances of social media to simply the bad stuff, it reeks of the writers not understanding how social media works, pandering, and laziness in their part. Teens will catch on to all of this and forget your message by the time the movie is over, no matter how good your message is. If you’re making a dumb movie (which He’s All That absolutely is), that is fine. If you’re making a movie specifically to try to touch teens on social media issues, you’ve failed as a movie.
i always find it unbelievable when conventionally attractive people are playing someone people don't find attractive just because they can't dress. since when it's how it works?????
Tbf, if you know a person for 4 years and they are an unsocial douche the whole time, you'd probably also find them unattractive, no matter the looks. But that's hard to convey in a 90 minute movie
Actually….. it kinda works….. In my case, I’m not attractive at all and I “need” to dress up and wear makeup to appear more attractive. It happens unfortunately.
That’s not nearly enough to get those abs. I think people underestimate how hard it’s to get that level of definition in your muscles, you need to work out at least a couple hours a day and consume tons of protein powder. A eighteen year old doesn’t have enough time for that shit
He would need to eat nothing but broccoli and chicken for abs like that. And from what we’ve seen in the movie he doesn’t have very clean eating habits
Maddison Pettis deserved the lead role and I’m standing by that. She’s more known, and has a longer resume. Addison Rae is known for a certain demographic and her fans would’ve still watched it. Kinda obvious she only has the lead role because they didn’t want to give her the mean girl part.
"Punch-able Presence"...I almost fell out of my chair. Another gem to add to my vocabulary. My runner-up faves: "they all bought the same face" and "he looks like a Great Value Sprouse." Kennie is more entertaining than most forms of entertainment.
I’ve seen so many commentaries on this movie but I will always be here just to listen to Kennie’s take on it. I’d listen to her talk about a grain of sand for 20 minutes.
I feel like whoever was responsible for writing Jordans character understanding of fashion and pop culture hasn't progressed past the early 2010s LMFAO days
@@Alyakismydutchname I probably heard the original version and the Kidz Bop a thousand times. My upper elementary school had the Kidz bop version on a CD that they played alot (I actually got the CD from my 5th grade teacher on the last day of school)
I grew up with "She's All That". I was 10 years old when it came out, which is also when I watched it for the first time. And I have probably seen it 7-8 times since. It's not like I'm a crazy fan of the original movie or anything, but there is without a doubt a nostalgia factor at play for me. It's really campy, but in a good way. So when "He's All That" came out, I, of course, watched it. As a 32-years-old guy, I had no idea who Addison Rae was. I knew Tanner Buchanan because of Cobra Kai, though. But I was fully aware that I am not the target audience of "He's All That". Nevertheless, the new movie is pretty bad, I'm not gonna lie. Tanner's acting was fine, Addison's was not. The laughing scene with the horse was incredibly cringy. It was like watching an alien trying to imitate a human female laughing. The actress who played the little sister, though, was really good, in my opinion. And she had the best lines of the movie. I laughed out loud when she said something along the lines of "He's my brother, but only by blood", which was a reference to "Not Another Teen Movie". What really bugs me with the new movie is the fact that the characters don't really evolve. They all basically stay the same throughout the entirety of the movie, even at the end. In the original movie, the main characters go through a transformative process, putting what they learned in practice to make their lives better or become better persons. Hell, even some secondary characters evolve. In "He's All That", the only "progress" we clearly see is that Addison's character decides to ghost her former sponsor and changes her online platform a bit. And Tanner's character pretty much stays the same. The end. I also really disliked the fact that Matthew Lillard and Rachael Leigh Cook don't reprise their roles. (Her character's name in the first movie is Laney Boggs, this time it is Anna Sawyer.) They were a breath of fresh air every time they were on screen and it would have been nice to give them more space and in a more meaningful way. So yeah, I would call this movie a failure. Even their "Kiss Me" version is lackluster. And the product placement was so aggressive that I felt disrespected as a viewer.
Y'know what- I'm willing to debate with her fans that addison is an "okay" actress but whenever I see someone call her a great actress in this movie I have to question whether they're old enough to watch this movie in the first place 😭😭

@Jan Rose i'm sayin'! people said this movie is not that bad and honestly, i don't give crap, but the fact is... it's bland like a dry potato chip on the floor.
Wait till Kennie finds out that the original She's All that was written by M. Night Shamalama, so by default she's watched two M Night Shyamalan films back to back.
"M. Night Shyamalan did an uncredited rewrite on the script, and a very good "one that got the movie green-lit.”" Basically M Night claimed years later in an interview he ghost wrote it. He even takes credit for the famous line in both movies, "Am I a bet am I a fucking bet"
He didn’t want to be in the movie just to be in it. He felt like a cameo would just be cheesy. Honestly if Laney came back as a totally different character they could’ve just casted him as the principal 🤷🏽♀️
I just recently found out the All Around Me by Flyleaf was a Christian song and I still haven’t gotten over it, my inner Emo kid is quaking because it’s so obvious now
Third eye blind, Switchfoot, Creed, Lifehouse, Evanescence (though they don’t claim anymore), and many more. Big Xtian loves sneaking religious propaganda into mainstream media and then claiming the “devil” is doing the same. The old “Good guys with guns” argument.
honestly seeing tiktokers beyond the tiktok environment doing stuff like acting and music just looks so.... unnatural to me? does anyone get what i'm saying? they just look so out of place and i can't take them seriously in any other entertainment medias
For me it's because most entertainers train hardcore before becoming big, while these TikTokers get instant fame from dancing from the waist up on an app. If Addison took acting lessons before filming this I couldn't tell, but good for her for living her dream, I guess 😅
I think it's because, before the advent of social media celebrity, a LOT of these popular "influencers" would never have been hired by Hollywood, especially the ones that aren't "Hollywood pretty" like the Paul Brothers, Shane Dawson, Pewdiepie, Onision, Gabbie Hanna, Jeffrey Starr, etc. A LOT of these "influencers" are unattractive on the inside and outside, but people, especially kids, have become accustomed to flocking to such people who have minimal to no real talent at best (pranking is not a talent; recording yourself overracting is not a talent; etc.), causing Hollywood execs to respond to the numbers. I've never watched ANY of these people's videos yet I know who they are, and Hollywood/the music industry/brands respond to that.
Exactly. Like, they could at least hire tiktokers who are ACTUAL ACTORS instead of people like Addison Rae who got famous for dancing and and being pretty.
Kennie:"She makes a bet with Curly top." Me:"😂😂 That's Madison Pettis from The Game Plan and Phineas and Ferb. She can act, IDK why she's in this film though."

I thank ye for blessing me with a flash before my eyes as soon as I woke up because now I'm up and ready to take on the day, main goal is not to choke to death.
Rachel Leigh Cook is the name of the actress from the first movie. Except she plays a completely different character (Ana Sawyer) as the mom of Padget, where as she was the main nerdy love interest (Laney Boggs) back in She's All That.
The scene where he starts taking off her makeup made me so angry for some reason.. What if she just likes wearing makeup?? No one would just go up to a man and start shaving off their beard "because they look better without it"🤦🏻♀️
As an equestrian, I can explain the "waking up before 8:15 am in the morning to shovel horse crap" angle. Most stables exchange taking care of the horses (i.e. mucking stalls) for free horseback riding lessons. It can also be a paid job.
I just wish that these TikTok stars could stop thinking just because they get paid to dance in front of an iphone for an hour means that they could act or sing (some of them can) but the majority of em can't
@@benjirivoh that's why people need to be told the hard truth. If they don't got it, they don't got it. Respect a person enough to prevent them from making a fool out of themselves
Addison should’ve been in a cheer movie because all she did was smile and giggle. They turned Cameron into Scott Disick from his Lord Disick days. Best part of the movie was Cameron’s eyes and the Kiss Me song at the end - as you said.
If they didn't insist he was supposedly ugly, it would have been fine?? Like yeah some people are naturally good looking but dress in a very unflattering way which coupled with a bad hairstyle and maybe bad hiegene can make them look really bad. They (and medias using the "makeover" trope) should go that road with a "play/dress smart/in a flattering way and you'll look more attractive" instead of claiming that you can go from fugly to model. It's a better message and it's a lot more believable to watch. It's not like try to, or dare, make the hot actor look ugly so we will buy it. All this movie had to do was change some lines since they didn't want to make any effort except making 22 years old look 30!
I'm crying they probably wanted to make one of those classic romcom scenes where they throw paint or baking ingredients at eachother but instead they used horse poop
Rachel Leigh Cook's character Laney was one of my heroes as a teen (you know, before I realized I wasn't straight and it was actually a crush lol): could be "pretty" if she wanted to few are worth the effort, but more importantly intimidating, sarcastic, and not here for anyone's shit. The best rendition of a manic pixie dream girl, IMO
I completely realized that curly top is Madison Pettis “Peyton” from “The Game Plan” and all those Disney programs from the early 2000’s.
