I'm back with another episode of analyzing the martial arts in the live action Netflix adaptation of Avatar the Last Airbender! And this time, its a twofer. As I predicted, Azula wasn't handled the best and we are far removed from the original cartoon's perfect talent and picturesque Kung Fu, but I was still shocked by the surprises they made to a different character from the animation's run that actually made me laugh so hard I cried. Nobody warned me about what was hiding in the spirit world and I just gotta say, the change was so shocking I was blown away.
Unfortunately episode 5 is short on action and high on insanity, so I decided to lump episode 6 in there with it! The Blue Spirit episode may even be better than the original because we also get to see some crucial background between the fire lord and his son on top of expanding nice character moments. Gotta say I'm surprised by how much this show turned around in the later half, but I think I'm gonna make the next episode the finale for the season instead of going bit by bit.
