You guys have been asking for a pogy catch and cook, well here it is! Whether you call them menhaden, pogy or bunker these are a type of bait fish found along the eastern continental U.S and serve as an important food source for many predatory species. They are also fished commercially, to be made into fish oil and chum. These are far from trash fish and just need to be treated for what they are. Beneath the bony nature, they have a delicious oily fillet! Menhaden are one of the worlds most important bait fish, as they serve a huge role in the ecological food chain!

@@paradox4332 Yes you're right, it definitely needs to be prepared a little different. I moved to Florida 10 years ago and there was a vacant lot on my canal with a guy fishing. I get talking to him and he asks me if I want fresh fish so I'm so game for that. After he has like 8 fish sitting in the grass I asked how many are you taking? He said none those are all yours... lol. Just my wife and I and now I have 8 fish to clean so I put the brakes on that operation. The last fish I ate before that was Walleye from Northern Ontario Canada eh and I prepped it on grill in foil with a little butter.. so that was definitely the wrong way! Lol. People say smoking it is the way but its like puking in high-school from a liquor then you don't ever want to drink it again...

You come across as such humble people. That in itself is attractive. Its nice to see the big fish caught but its been filmed time and time again. I really enjoyed the down to earth vibe this video has. This video and the snail video. Also, the respect shown for a food source people probably don't use as much. Just think if others gave the eco system a break they get more variety in their diet and the eco system as a whole is healthier.

While bunker are super healthy for cats (and for gardening) due to their high omega fatty acid content, there are multiple reasons why we humans generally dont eat them. > They're slimy, unappetizinßg to hold, and when gutted their blood is very oily, and smelly, and hard to cleanup. The oily texture, and strong smell, make them ideal for chumming. > They're inconveniently bony, like whitefish are. > The flesh has a strong gamey flavor - even more so than bluefish. > Given the wide assortment of other fish species that are easier to work with, and taste far better, its easy to see why bunker are not a popular choice for eating. However, if you DO want to eat them, there is one method that actually works quite well, which is pickling them just like herring. Just be sure to bleed them in timely fashion after catching, and do your best to debone them thoroughly.

To make the sauce you add one stick of salted butter, 2 tablespoons of curry power / garlic / onions / black pepper/ lemon juice / cilantro and a dab of peanut butter to a can of coconut milk (unsweetened). Cook over medium heat (10 mins) to make a gravy, add water if needed. Add in your favorite fried fish to the gravy for 5 mins and serve over white rice.

Jesus is Lord! Believe in Him to be saved! We are all sinners in need of a savior. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! We have all lied, stolen, blasphemed, lusted, fornicated or in some way shape or form broken God's law! There is good new though! We broke God's law, but Jesus payed our fine in his life's blood for us that we might be saved. All you have to do to be saved is humble yourself, admit you are a sinner and need God's mercy, and believe in Jesus that he died on the cross for you and rose again on the third day! For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16. I love you all and God bless you!
