Awesome, this soup is very popular in Bulgaria, a classic. We add some grated fresh tomatoes and lots of spring onions (the last 10 min of cooking) and we usually garnish it with feta cheese and/or plane yogurt and/or walnuts.

I love the taste. I put it in Ramen with peas, making Ramen a bit nutritious. I drink it just like tea and eat the leaves like cooked spinach. Don't be scared of the sting, drop it in hot water and the sting is gone in seconds. If you let the dry leaves sit for a few days the sting dries up and you can eat it raw, but it's a papery texture, so not as fun to eat. I just this morning got a wasp sting and my hand was throbbing. I could see the little red spot on my palm, and it really stung. I put nettle tea (in my fridge) on the spot - just a half teaspoon or so, and within seconds the sting was gone - and 20 minutes later I can't see the spot! How cool is that? A stinging nettle can relieve wasp stings! Nature is awesome...thank you God for being so creative as we discover all these things with wonder...

nettles are very nutritious. they are excellent for those who need to lower their blood sugars due to diabetes and good for cleansing out the toxins in your kidneys and liver. Sadly I can't eat them because I am allergic to them. Mega bummer.

My kind of food - going to try this. I changed a pile of building rubble into a garden last year and it now has a really healthy nettle patch (deliberate). I have chronic bronchitis and nettles are great for my chest. I'll try this as well as nettle tea. Thanks for a new idea.

In general the reverse side of the leaves is much less stingy. With some experience one can gather kilograms of nettle with bare hands and not get stung.
@vihorvetrov
@vihorvetrov 6 лет назад
Do what he did. Grab the stalk and make sure the leaves dont touch your sensitive skin. The other thing is to make contact only with the thickest skin you have on your fingers as the thicker skin will give you enough protection. Pick only young nettles as the older stalks will be harder to break. Proceed with caution.
