Hey RedPanda, Binary100100 from Michigan here. I have a 4U Rosewill case that can hold 12 hard drives in my basement that I use as an FTP and Plex media server. I also manage my mining rigs via Awesome Miner on it. It's on 24/7. On the server I have a 10Gb Trendnet NIC that's connected to a 10Gb switch (copper Cat 8) and I have SFP+ OM3 LC / LC fiber cable running to another switch in my upstairs office. I had to run it this way because I couldn't run cable to the second floor of my house without going through cold air returns (which requires Plenum and I wasn't about to buy a 1,000 foot spool of CMP Cat 6a/7 cable) so I just ran the OM3 LC fiber to the second switch. Works great! It's also a lot cheaper. I also hooked up a POE+ switch and put it all inside a closet in my office. Running a single OM3 fiber cable looks a lot cleaner, easier to pull, it's a fraction of the price and it's practically future proof. You just need to make sure you get the right modules for the SFP+ ports. Anyway the two switches, patch panel and a UPS (highly recommend one) fit perfectly in my NavePoint 6U (that I bought on Amazon for $105). @red panda the issue you had would most likely have been something called a broadcast storm, I've seem the loop back start from a nic on a motherboard, im a Level 3 network engineer so I've seen it all lol could be stopped by enabling spanning tree protocol on the switch if its layer 3 or 2+ i identified that instantly watching your previous video, tip if all your switch lights flash rapidly and your entire LAN goes down, my friend you have a broadcast storm or loop back;)

Ya that mining rig was mining just fine sometimes in HiveOS and on that asus b250 motherboard, but then sometimes it would just all of a sudden go down and the NIC would blink insane and would take down everything. Seems to be fixed now since replacing the motherboard. I call it flooding the network :D lol broadcast storm same terminology

Put a wallboard up and then mount to it. It's your best bet with that many switches! Love the videos man!

Definitely mount it on the wall. Yes paint a board black and center it on the wall. Be sure to leave enough room to use access doors as they can keep you from taking stuff out of the rack . But I can't even get you to fix your shelf spacing so... Good luck!

Don't fit the network rack to the wall above chest-height or you'll curse everytime you have to do work in it (probably have to use steps to reach it). Also, if you fit it hard against the back wall you need to allow enough clearance so you can get the side panels off, which means you can't fit it into the corner or you loose access. One way around that is to fit a long vertical hinge to the left side (onto a stud) and use that to fix it against the wall, then you can swing it out when needed. Don't be afraid to fix it to a full plywood backing board if the studs don't line up. Paint the plywood the same colour as the walls and you'll never notice it. You can also cut channels into the backing board to run cables through, hidden. Good luck whatever you decide.

@@GravityGamer ProxMox vs VMware I could write half a book but not to do into too much detail and give you key points here, ability to cluster, VSAN clustering, auto spanning, orchestration support, HA, auto failover on heartbeat, vMotion, list goes on... ProXmox is open source and when you have open source you have people easily picking it apart and finding vulnerabilities, its free, designed to be used for home networks, so when you say its better than VMware I needed to grab my popcorn but I also need to correct that statement to not mislead anyone here.
