Forgot to mention you have to move the red switch on your power supply from 110 to 230 or it will blow... Is that correct?

Thank you for this video. I started to move my rigs around in my basement to put them on different circuits and it's a big pain in the butt. I want to use my office/ guest bedroom as a mining room, but I can't have more than 1 rig and my other servers in there before I start popping my breaker. This gives me a blueprint for what I need so I can start talking to electricians to do this for me.

awesome thanks for the information! Im just not building a small building for my mining rigs and was telling the electrician I wanted to run a 30amp 240v line to the shed., and he said it would be smarter to just run two 20amp 120v lines. He then looked into it and realized i was correct.. which made me not want to use him to do the install lol.

I did days worth of personal research going from 0 knowledge to "unofficial expert" adept at understanding watts from every far corner of the internet... I'm happy to see this video and have everything I studied validated and confirmed.

In the United States (can't speak for other countries), most outlet circuits are going to be 20 amp (this can be verified by just looking at the breakers), but the outlets themselves are usually rated at 15 amps. This means that any given outlet can supply 1800 Watts, but the circuit can supply 2400 watts (this is a simplification, but is adequate for this purpose). This is done because most household appliances aren't likely to draw more than 15A/1800W, but there will likely be other things plugged into that circuit on different outlets. e.g. plugging a vacuum into the same circuit with a TV and a couple of lamps.

Red Panda, I completed a tear down and changed the thermal pads/paste on a 3080 Asus Tuf card like your having throttling issues with. I switched thermal pads with Thermalright 12.8's and had 0-2c change. The pads in those cards and VRM heatsink are of good design/quality. I did find one of my thermal pads didn't have plastic removed from one side ( Bad QC?). The thin Aluminum backplate being transferred all the heat via rear 3mm Thermal pads on the VRM's isn't adequate enough to dissipate the heat. Best solution was a perfect size heatsink I and others have used from Amazon. I sat it on the card with regular thermal pads/tape and saw a 6-8c change. 80 mm fan extruding heat off heatsink offered no real change. This allows me to run the Asus Tuf 3080 at 97 hashrate, 80 fan speed, 234 watts, -200 core, + 1000 clock ( Can go Waaay higher 1350+ under 100 c for over 100 Hashrate), temp 90c. Ambient temp 24c.

this video made me go check my circuit breakers and alot of them are a mix of 15/20 amp ones, with one 50, 40, and two 30amp ones. altho its my dryer/washer/stove that takes those high number ones. didnt realize some of my circuit breakers have a decent limit for mining. one of the 30amp is available seems to be 220v which im planning on moving all my rigs into :) thanks panda

I was setting up my new little mining rig the other weekend and totatly didn't even think of them being on the same sercet as my computer in the bedroom. YEP pop went the breaker. They did some odd wire job on this place but I figure the same wall was running the same wire, but my other breaker is only three walls and the bathroom, while the other does the wall that shares with the bedroom, theliving room and kitchen. WHile they have appliances on other breakers. I was wonder what the limit is for such. Now that I confirmed what I thought was right I feel more comfortable where I rigged them up at.

Great video Red Panda! I have been thinking about converting my rig to 220V but I have a question. Is there any difference between U.S. 220V sockets like for a cloths dryer or oven and European 220V house sockets? If all I need is a U.S. 220V socket I should be good to go but I wanted to know what I was getting into before starting the project.

This video and your description really helped me a lot. PDU is what I needed to find. Now looking at those C13 to C14 cords. I see the ones you showed are 14 AWG, the ones I am finding fastest and easiest are 18 AWG. I know it is better to have more and not need then to need and not have. I am basically only running 850W PSUs because that is all I can get ahold of without fights. 1200/1250 aren't as easy. Would an 18 AWG be ok you think for my 850W PSUs? Only pushing about 500W from each PSU.

how much do you pay on your electricity bill ?
@n01n0s
@n01n0s 3 года назад
Another reason to have a certified electrician install its is for insurance, most insurance companys will null invoid your insurance if your house burns down and you DIY'ed it. Be smart ,pay a master electrician; not only for your own safety but for your familys and neigthbours too. edit*: seem alot of people dont understand the 80% rule; it is for a continuous load... As power runs through cables, they heat up. A hotter wire will have more resistance than a cooler one, drawing more amperage over ttime from he intital power on. This is also why the awg of connectors to the pdu and of the strands to gpus is very important.(moar girth ok!... ;) )

Shit I thought it looks a lot easier then having multiple rigs plugged in to multiple power meters with those powerline adapters runing to 3-4 different rooms in your house.. which is exactly how I have rigs setup, and now that summer is coming, they are going from eliminating the 100 dollar heating bill so basically paying for themselves, to being a massive hassle, and having my brothers house be 85 degrees wile ruining the AC unit.
