This young fellow can easily be mentioned in the same breath as the legend that was Fischer- Dieskau. A sound technique, his overall vocal is very reminiscent of Dieskau at the same age. Resonant, masculine, elegant all at he same time. He has a great stage presence as well. Bound for glory.

Just here I'm not thinking of the great FiDi, but of Sir Thomas Allen (you can hear this aria in English from him here) - and Johannes K. seems to have gotten something from the famous Allen Charme and the deep sensitivity.
beautiful and talented sounds even better when he is more relaxed in some spots--he becomes more resonant and true to tone and pitch only--that's what's most impressive.

Wonderfully stylish singing, fine technique and control, and a stunningly beautiful voice! I'm green with envy... Eine traumhafte Mittellage, tatsächlich erinnert er mich auch teilweise an FiDi. Nun muss er - im Gegensatz zu FiDi - auch noch die letzten 10 % nach oben kommen, dann hören wir hier gerade einen ganz großen Bariton der Zukunft.
Very nice, really. Though, the guy is breathing every now and then... Incredible. Like Joyce DiDonato once said, you can breath, no problem, there is no breathing police or anything like that.
A bit draggy, miss the rubato. pickup the pace so the stretches mean something. yes, reminds one of DF-D, but Dieskau's voice had a more youthful vocal weight at this age, which is why his career went so long. once you start putting the weight in, you can never really go back

Lots of straight tones and woofy singing. Completely post-2000 style for an opera over a century old. Not a bad instrument though...in the more involved parts, he loses the straight tones and undersupport and lets loose, but it's still considerably overdarkened. Misses the old stage-voice of the past singers. Compare Hans Duhan.
