I don’t understand why people are hating on this video lol. Sounds great to me. So far we’ve heard heavy, some cleans, very few blues, and capturing. This dude shows us something different. A little 80’s leads/cleans and ambience. And it’s about what he thinks about it, not a demo video. Guitarists are such babies.

Everything i've heard from this unit just sounds really great! I love that it seems very easy to to use. Provided one has some basic knowledge of how to operate/navagate these type of products. ie line 6, fractal Kemper etc.. Although i don't currently use the automation feature via a DAW into the Quad Cortex, i feel it's an extremely useful technology for the gigging musician. I also noticed that this unit doesn't have an edit function via Neural software for computer??? My guess is the touchscreen interface is it's current iteration of this function. Perhaps it will receive a firmware update in the future allowing for computer screen editing..?

Just focus on figuring out a DAW first (hopefully you've had a recording engineering course first), after you've figured out a DI, and figured out what all the software you need to download and install. I've just got started with digital music from pedals and a physical amp and it is daunting going to computer based systems without help.

So many people knocking this thing on here. I totally get everyone has their preference, but this unit is totally legitimate in all aspects. Just saw Intervals perform and they had a stereo rig which ran thru the QC. It sounded absolutely incredible. People are overly nitpick-y with this kind of stuff. Trust me, I've been to countless concerts. It's not a glaring difference between the real deal and modelers. Too many people complaining and not enough music being made. Just make the music, no matter how you get there. It's all viable.
@mello2029

It sounds good in a few demos but with such a pitifully small number of amp models, plus at least a year until usable patch exchange is up and running, I will go with the Axe FX III for a little more money.

That thing REALLY DID sound like a 5150! The tones are just sick and it's super easy to set up tones!!!! This is definitely gonna be my next piece of gear! I was gonna get the axe FM3 which I might still get as a separate M.E.P for the certain sounds it has, but for another $200 or so, this is definitely gonna be way better!

The hardware is done. They had a recall where they replaced something that was failing in some of the beta units, which set things back a little bit. The real work being done right now is on the software side. The will continue with updates as things go on but for right now, that is their main focus. Either way, Im pretty stoked to get one and I look forward to the updates.

We were using an FRFR amp/cab for in-room monitoring, though we didn't record that. The room sound was really good... but the audio capture is just more tidy/less bleed when we do direct recording to our Zoom F8n. That's also a more accurate representation of the Quad Cortex's sounds since the speakers used, cabinet design, and amps (as clean as they are) in an FRFR cab would impart some different tone. Mic'ing FRFR cabs can be challenging since you'd want to mic both left and right and there are typically both drivers and tweeters that don't perfectly line up... you'd need a mic for the driver and a mic for the tweeter on each side (and then blend those accurately in the mix). You could pull the mics back a bit to try to capture both the tweeter and driver with one mic, but then you'll get much more bleed from the other side. Those challenges are probably why pretty much everyone opts to just record the direct signal out, either from the analog main L/R or from the digital USB outs. In practical performance application the challenges become irrelevant because you can easily just do both... run the XLR L/R as direct outs to the sound engineer for the FOH system, run your instrument level L/R outs to your FRFR cab on the stage for your own monitoring purposes/stage volume.

This was recorded using the main XLR outs recording to a Zoom F8n field recorder. It would work like a USB recording interface when connected via USB to a DAW. You'd need to set inputs in the DAW for each output being used from the Quad Cortex via USB.

It’s a pretty industry standard term for most technical markets. They are experts at the product but also deal with your order as a direct customer facing personnel. I am an engineer, and I deal with a lot of sales people who know surprisingly little about what they sell 😑 but their primary concern is to put orders in the system and communicate shipping info and then handle customer issues and field them to the proper folk. There are people who are “in-between” but we call them “system architects” instead who talk to the customer but don’t deal with logistics.

Hmmm.... doesn't sound good here. Show me how a guitarist in a cover band uses this in a live situation. This looks like it's for the guitarist that plays super heavy music in front of his computer. The one thing i do like is that it looks easy to use but if it sounds as bad as the other modelers, it's not going to work.

Other than the unit sounds god awful for metal. I have a question that doesn't seem addressed well in anyone's videos.Once you capture an amp, can you change the eq like you can on kemper? It seems the captured tone is what you are stuck with and unable to change your eq, gain or whatever afterwards.If the answer is no then the capture is a huge fail.

looks good on paper however, what if one guy needs to change the preset mid song and the other guy doesnt. You have to create a ton of scenes due to it just to circumvent that. seems neat for bedroom jammin but starts to get over complicated for live application. i dunno.what started out simple and now i have to get a protools live rig to control all my scenes cause im too lazy to carry a real amp

Maybe you are all correct haha. Full disclosure, despite my disdain for overly digital sounding guitars, I do like modeling products. I find that the ability to instantly switch between disparate amps / effects provides lots of inspiration while writing. Not to mention I really dig the wide range of colors in my palette, opposed to a more narrow range of tones found in more “standard” tube or SS amps. That being said, not all modelers are created equal. I actually think Fender’s modeling amps are insanely good for the price. You get lots of tonal options AND it’s an amp you can practice / gig with.
