FINALLY this has been addressed. The last statement says it all. Why are people still questioning the keto diet in the comments? Did they not understand the science in the speech?

Thank you so very much for this very important primer on dietary fats and brain health as we age. Because I'm apoe4+/+, I take an algal DHA supplement with 400 mg DHA/soft gel daily: 2 in the AM and 3 in the PM, as well as get in a couple tablespoons of ground flax and chia seeds each day in my WFPB diet.

Thanks for sharing. Could you please add the studies cited to the video description? Were those eating the saturated fat otherwise eating the same diet as those not eating SF? If they are also eating those saturated fats fried in oxidized polyunsaturated fats (in virtually every restaurant), would it not confound the blame? McDonald's stopped using beef tallow a long time ago...

Which whole grains are good sources of monounsaturated fats? Also, can I get the Omega fats from consuming spirulina and chlorella from save unpolluted sources?

I don’t know which ones she meant, but I think a fair % of the lipids in unmilled sorghum are Oleic acid (C18:1), a monounsaturated fat. There is a 2011 paper that compares the fatty acid composition of grains, milled to different degrees. I am sure it is findable on pubmed. KeShun Liu is the author.

I disagree with what you said about saturated fat from food being harmfull for health Danni Li, PhD says our study actually shows that those very long-chain saturated fatty acids are good for cognitive function Dr. Li also discovered that very long-chain saturated fatty acids’ beneficial effect on slowing cognitive decline is in the same magnitude as OMEGA-3 This means people who do not like fish and salmon, which are high in OMEGA-3 fatty acids, can get the same cognitive benefit by eating dairy products saturated fats are the healthiest form of fat because they are resistance to oxidation so they are good for health and unsaturated fats are prone to oxidation so they are bad for health except for epa and dha which comes from animal sources . there is no Solid scientific evidence out there which shows that saturated fats are bad and arachadonic acid is abundant in the brain and it comes from animal sources

Thanks! Should DHA and / or EPA be considered essential or conditionally essential? I gather that some people don't convert the shorter fat into these as well as other people.

They are not equally unhealthy. Coconut oil is >90% saturated fat, and the fad was so disturbing that the major universities including Harvard SPH decided to put out a statement against Coconut oil and its health benefits. Eggs have also been found to be unhealthy, and especially the Yolk.

Eggs don’t need to be the best most macronutrient/ micronutrient/ per calorie optimized food in existence, just better than the alternatives (doughnuts, fruit loops, anemia, that sort of thing) for the vast majority of Americans they are. That egg yolk has the highest micronutrients in thing as well, so what comes up is the trade off of high micronutrients for a little bit more calories and “bad” fats worth it? Because most Americans have a nutrient poor (low fiber) high calorie (added sugars/ added fats) diet I would think it would be.
