I am Eric's mom, and I can't even begin to say how much it has helped Eric. Like DMcArnold's son, Eric was lost in public school. Now he is flourishing.

Rici Larsen-Young how is he doing 10 years later? 💞 I am legal guardian of an autistic child and am considering Neurofeedback for her. She does very well in school and is high functioning but needs support in other areas. I’m on my 10th session for ptsd but don’t notice a change yet.

Susan Othmer, Michelle is not featured but she could have been. I want you to know she continues to thrive. She is happy, social and an honor student in middle school. Doing feedback 10 years ago changed her whole life. THANK YOU!!! Kate Runyon

@expanton Oh my gosh! I'm the one telling that story, and that's the part they cut off!! LOL!! I told that woman that if my sweet, loving little boy had to wear a sign that said he has autism, that she should have to wear a sign that says, "I'm a child-hating bitch" LOL! Can't imagine why they didn't include that part! ;-) :-P

This is very helpful. My eldest daughter is 15 and has very recently been diagnosed with Aspergers. She is away at boarding school because there are just no supportive schools nearby. I’ve been looking into this as I know there are centres in the city where her school is and if this is a way to help her in her final years of high school and beyond, them I am willing to give a good shot. No parent wants this for their child, to have something such as being on the Autism spectrum. We see that there isn’t a lot of hope in helping our child to make the huge improvements they may need to be like everyone else. And that hurts so much! This video gives me some hope. So that I don’t have to feel so sad about this diagnosis. The brain is like plasticine it can be melded and shaped. The pathways can be connected the way they should be and Neurofeedback is a way it seems to be able to do that. Thankyou for sharing these stories.

I appreciate the base message, I think. And this video is 12 years old so, I’m hoping we’ve come a long way since then, with ableist ideas, perspectives, language & practices. The practitioners seem quite caring…that’s a definite plus… But, because this video is still available & is being publicized & therefore, will pay influence on those that watch it, I feel I need to say some things. I’m an autistic adult & mother to 2 autistic children with my 3rd likely on the spectrum, as well, though not diagnosed. #1) We do not “have” autism. We are autistic. This is our minds, our brains, how they’re constructed, the ways in which they progress in their development, react, adapt, understand, relate & experience an individual reality…where within, this is who we are. Autism isn’t a disease or a growth & honestly, personally, I feel there’s potential for this spectrum of brain being part of human evolution. -My point being, we are not afflicted by who we are, we are responding to an outside world that does not make room for us. Autists are not alone in this, sadly as our society, here in the US & many other 1st world countries, accommodates for the typically abled person; not for the differently abled person. With that said, #2) we do not need to be fixed. If there are therapies that help us with those things that we struggle with, it is no different than typical minds & therapies that help them with those things that they struggle with. The line is crossed when we’re being treated for our responses to a world that is deliberately negligent in including us in its functioning, construction, in it’s rules & standards & in its accommodations. #3) Stop speaking for us, stop deciding for us, stop trying to make copies of yourselves. “How we are supposed to function”, is ablest to say. We are many. We are human. We’ve been here for a time that I don’t think has even been calculated. We’re not here to conform. We’re here to be connected in the ways that we have capacity, skill & want, just as any other human. Why practitioners continue, to this day, to treat us as though we’re some sort of mistake that needs to be fixed…it just blows my mind. For me, this is a theme amongst our species that makes me feel extremely alien. Not just that we’re looked at like a mistake to be fixed while they sit there, studying away, assuming THEY’RE somehow some sort of ideal model of a human 🙄…but, more so, how dividing it is, how division & segregation is manufactured & conditioned of people, of human beings that were meant, were created to thrive together, all differences necessary in order to enhance all life experience. SMH…there’s simply more of them, these people that have deemed themselves superior, regardless their intentions, regardless of how much they feel they care…& they’ve taken over & created the rules. And with autists, though many of us have articulate speech, more than enough to be listened to, as well as other various ways of communication throughout the lot of us, they’ve ignored us & decided for us…and they just don’t get it. They don’t see how ignorant they’re being, how dismissive, how endangering & damaging they’ve been & continue to be; with us, AS WELL AS THE ENTIRE WORLD. I chronically imagine that, at some point, somewhere, these types of brains/humans decided they would take advantage of their population & fit for themselves, regardless the detriment they did to others, who were also great in number, though did not consider conquest. SMH. And I cannot see how it’s gotten our species nearer to “How we are supposed to function”. #4) Parents of autistic kids are not heroes…they’re incredibly unfortunate, though their children are the ones actively struggling, because they live in an era where their children aren’t accepted, normalized & the obvious idea that humans come in all forms & the education of how to work together as true individuals, has not been established. Therefore, these parents struggle because they have no village. They have no community. No supports. They have no idea, even though there’s enough knowledge that’s been pumped out by the diligent, unbiased & compassionate professional students that have researched & provided many answers to these disconnects & ignorances, as well as -hello??? Hordes of adult, adolescent autistic people & autistic children that enough of are more than happy to have their experiences normalized & part of society, if you’d just include us. And this is a societal issue, the responsibility of society, as a whole, to recall that we are & react as an actual whole. The catalysts to these deficits & grave consequences would be all those that take up, buy up the platforms to stand from & decide what it is that’s equitable information & what it is that will be held from us. They make up a small percentage but, due to, I guess, choosing to manipulate & take advantage of where they find themselves, in the name of themselves & their private agendas, against the masses that crave connection, normalcy & reliable, organized governing, we’re conditioned in these ways. Insomuch that we have extremely concerning behaviors like, voting against our own well-being, ignoring massive threats against our existence, supporting “rights” that perpetuate our biggest plights & complaints & overall, killing critical thinking whilst, simultaneously, touting our superior intelligence. (Huh???) I think there are really neat things about a lot of therapies & research…& if you want to help people, stop hurting them. Stop necessitating conformity & if you’re all so superior, put the effort into understanding us -not just the research that’s always, inescapably conditioned by the biases of the researcher but US. Listen. Learn different ways of communication. Give us equal seats at the table. We’re not anomalies, we’re not experiments for the self-proclaimed superior brain that just can’t steal themselves away from their selfish curiosities; curiosities justified & convinced as altruism. We aren’t meat vessels to find use of when you discover some of us have favorable, organic skill-sets, abilities & talents. Stop creating disability. Start educating yourselves & realize we’re all just as valuable and valid. -Reminds me a bit like all the alien abduction stories. 🙄 Stop it. Please. We don’t like probes. Other than that…we can all use therapies. The percentage of humans on this planet that are the current ideal of mentally, emotionally & spiritually healthy…is in the single digits. We’re not there, yet. We need each other, so ridiculously badly. Fingers crossed, I guess. 🙏🏽

i myself am an autistic kid yet i didn't need neurofeedback sure it was only at the age of 10 that my symptoms became less severe but i manged to do it without strapping stuff to my brain

That’s great news but not everyone is in on the same spectrum as you or is as capable as you. My brother is autistic and was a total sceptic but now raves about this, it totally changed his life and even totally removed his depression. “Strapping stuff to your brain” is improving its function, it’s worlds better than taking harmful drugs.

Hello, I'm Szilvi from Hungary. Have some questions. How long does it take to reach results? And how many times do I need to take my child to a center? And how many years do I need it? I have a daughter 12, was born earlier than we expected. Sometimes she has difficulties in focus or study. Thank you 😊

Where does a parent of an autistic child find a Neurofeedback center?
@samanthaashley7307
@samanthaashley7307 4 года назад
Do the kid’s want their brains retrained or do the parents want a “normal” child? Leave their brain alone and embrace who your child is 🤦🏻‍♀️ My sweet girl’s brain is just fine thank you very much. The last thing she needs is to worry her biggest fan wants her to change who she is.

The video talks about how we build the child up from the inside; we don't tamp down or force the brain. We don't change who someone is. Just like exercising the body, or exercising the brain doing school work, this is a way to build you up, not judge and force the brain and the person to be something they're not.

Your ignorance has blinded you from seeing or recognising the daily, lifelong struggles of both children on the spectrum, and their families. Many have have minimal or no speech, rigid behaviour, meltdowns, anger outbursts, difficulty focusing, difficulty learning, can't perform simple tasks...the list goes on. I dont know what part of wanting to change or improve that is wrong! Especially if it means that they are relieved of their suffering, and as a result their families are too!
