NEUSE RIVER GIANTS with THIS POPPING CORK 

Justin and I went Pamlico Sound Fishing for Old Drum, targeting bait balls with the popping cork. The Pamlico Sound Red Drum, or Old Drum depending on location, feed on these bait balls, causing what seems to be nervous bait on the surface of the water column. We slowly worked from bait ball to bait ball until we found the fish.

T E C H N I Q U E: Trolling motor up to a school of bait - within casting distance, cast as far as you can, yank medium to heavy rips - causing the cork to create major commotion, Vary your cork rips based on if you are getting action or not. Give it a few cast and if you don't catch one - move on to the next bait ball. The cork commotion gives off the impression that another drum is feeding which creates the fish frenzy beneath the surface.
