Fun fact about the track "Oh Comely", is that Jeff really did sing that in one take! That's why at the end of the track you hear someone from the studio yell "HOLY SHIT", because they couldn't believe he really did that. Also, Jeffs writing takes a lot of inspiration and imagery from his own tortured dreams and nightmares, wich is why the lyrics sound so magical, otherworldly and colorful.
Clue's in the first track. "From above you how I sank into your soul" is him reading her diary. He loves her through her intimate writing. Great review.
This album hit me hard when I first heard it. I dont really no why it just did something to me 👍 Sometimes an album and a moment in time can just come together like that.
Me too! I remember pulling into my driveway at the beginning of 2 Headed Boy pt2. I sat and cried. I dont have a clue why it hit me so hard, but it sure did. Cheers!
i literally had this exprience last night. i listen to a lot of music, like pretty much a new album everyday so I got used to new experiences but for some reason as soon as king of carrot flowers pt1 started playing and he started singing my eyes got watery. I don't know what I felt last night but its one of the purest feeling I have felt in a while
You gotta listen to Frances the Mute by The Mars Volta one of these times. One of the craziest prog rock albums of all time. I think you'd fuck with it.
My favorite song by this band isnt even on this its from the debut on Avery island its called a baby for pree and where youll find me now its split into those 2 songs however they both have the same melody and were originally intended to be the same song so i consider them one song
This is possibly my favourite album, and I love seeing people listening to it for the first time and trying to make sense of the Ann Frank references and random imagery. I can't even articulate why I love it or why it makes me feel the way it does, so seeing other people try is hilarious.
I feel like the listens next to each song on Spotify might influence reaction or perception. I feel like it detracts. Just my opinion though and I assume most would think that shit is negligible.
fun fact! the mystery instruments from In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, Ghost, and Two Headed Boy Pt. 2 is a musical saw! it's a handsaw you put a violin bow to, and it's fucking hard.
Fun fact the legendary indie rock band death cab for cutie my favorite band did a amazing cover of the king of carrot flowers pt1 which is better then the original not kidding its great
Another singer with an 'odd' vocal delivery is Jonathan Higgs from Everything Everything. Guy sounds like an emotional siren. Their album 'Get to heaven' has a terrorist theme running through it to catchy math rock/pop. Definitely worth a listen if you haven't already.
