Everything about this cutscene makes me appreciate his character much more. I see him trying to figure out his reasoning for his existence and this cutscene is like a reflection, strolling through the memories of past events in a black and white setting until at the very end the setting goes back into colour as the sun appears shining to the present day with the traveler and Paimon smiling back at him. I love him so much 💙

a little child screaming “Hydro Dragon, Hydro Dragon Don’t Cry!” brought tears to my eyes and I rarely cry over cutscenes. I wanted to find the music in the background but I teared up watching the cutscene again
The entire quest had me on the verge of tears and the people's reaction in the current times pretty much broke me. That line just completely sealed the deal at the end. This is the most emotional SQ in the game so far. Mihoyo just keep outdoing themselves with each patch (act 3 not included lol)
My very first, and perhaps last, featured c6 5*. I love finding out different teams to go with him, even the non optimal ones, but are so much fun to play. Not even gonna go through his lore and character. I'm thoroughly obsessed.
@@garudanathanael5257 wow we must have very different experiences. He's the first 5 star i've enjoyed playing THIS much in more than a year. Sheer amount of teams you can use with him is a big plus too
@@juniper8002having multiple available team is always a great thing like Childe, his gameplay without riptide is quite boring but seeing all the enemies with riptide explose while Xiangling steam the next batch is elation at it finest(taser, bloom, hyperbloom there just so much possibility with Neuvilette and Childe and salot of combo name as well)
At 1:11, we see Alain (Presumably) and Seymour! This is also likely right before the confrontation within Elynas between the Marechaussee Phantom and the Narzissenkreuz Ordo.
Nope. It's Furina who should stop being a bratty coward dumbass Archon. I completely agree with every roasts The Knave said to her. Goddamn how I wish Neuvillette is the real Hydro Dragon instead... FCK!
2:57 Idk but… when Neuvillete sees the traveler and makes such a peaceful expression after that, and then seeing them walk together is so adorable to me.
"You will see much in the human world, from the delightful to the depressing. And one day when you have dwelt long enough among humanity, you will be placed to bring judgement overall as a spokesperson of Fontaine's past." -> This line had me bawling my eyes out T_T, plus we see Carole and Vautrin directly after. -> 10/10 cutscene presentation.
It's because "you" appeared in current time. If "you" were one of the Fontainian during that time I'm sure "you" are a racist too against the Melusines.
"You will see much in the human world. From the delightful, to the depressing. And one day, when you have dwelt among humanity long enough, you will be placed to bring judgement over all as the spokesperson for Fontaine's past." After the finale of the Fontaine arc, these words hold so much more meaning now.
dont mind me stamping some flashbacks 1:10 Alain and Seymour 1:23 Wriothesley and Siegewinne 1:34 Navia 1:45 Arlecchino, Lyney, Lynette, Freminet 1:59 People of Fontaine, past vs present 2:12 Furina 2:30 Carole and Vautrin 2:54 Traveler and Paimon
"Hydro Dragon, Hydro Dragon, don't cry!" And what about me? I'm crying! 😭 For real, although no trial domain, this was by far the best character quest I've ever played in this game. So many emotions it gave me. Hope we get more. He is the non archon character who really deserves a second quest.
Man, this is so peak, from start to finish. His first "vision of the past" perfectly show us how people see Neuvillette with the metaphor of the rain (The rain (Justice) is something that has to come, but not something that people accept, yet there a people that understand that the "Hydro Dragon" is not the one to blame, since it is part of what he has to do). The second, a lot more important than we thought at the time, knowing that the possibility of Alain Guillotine being Sandrone seems more like a fact than a theory at this point, this means that is something that Neuvillette "carries" on his mind the fact that he was unable to help him while he could. The third, he sees hope in the people of the Fortress of Meropide thanks to Wriothesly, meaning that even "those people" exiled there can do great for humanity. The forth, is a regret that he will always have, declaring Navia's father guilty based on the lack of evidence instead of going deeper into it was a mistake that he must never allow again. The fifth, proving that he is aware of every move in Fontaine (further proved in quest like Pashiv's one), and now he does his duties with max efficency. And well, the sixth and the monologue of Focalors, proving that right now, he is *the* most important person on Fontaine, having on his shoulders the responsability to judge every person and even the gods of Teyvat, but that is not a duty he must do alone, he can and will have people go will help him and he should not push them away (As he said about not forming bonds with humans), but instead embrace it since is what makes him the "spokesperson from Fontaine's past". Really peak.
Lol no and how exactly. Shenhe has her emotions cut off while Neu can still feel emotions and crying. Meanwhile Wriothesley and Yelan though... I can see they accidentally bumped to each other and both of them said "Nice jacket..."
@@phokeyu3749 i never said yelan is suffering from misunderstanding..how did u make that connection or is wriothesley suffers from misunderstood??? idk
Every time they bring her up and the fact she sacrificed herself, I've been on the verge of tears the entire time Also Furina really just told him to touch grass HAHAHAHAHA
@@saiavabel6076 yes, i also thought that the other Furina and the Gnosis is inside the Oratrice somehow because Lyney heard voices in that room back in Act I
@@lanbui8723 my current theory is that waters/rains wash away her emotions, maturity and knowledge. Which is why she feels as if she's completely stagnant in her development since the cataclysm, as opposed to Nahida who was held back but could still progress through the Akasha.
Spoilers for 4.2 Focalors has had great faith to place the judgment of humans on Neuvi. She hoped he’d judge them fairly when the time came for the prophecy and for her divine self to be extinguished… and she was right.
I’ve expected a lot from Neuvillette’s story quest but voice/face reveal of Alain Guillotine was definitely not on the list, but I can’t complain. Any Narzissekreuz crumbs are yes please more
1:57 shut up have you go outside how dare you talk to melusine like that did you know that creature like adeptus saving people lives and have to survive
Just did this quest today. And when I thought I was sobbing to Lyney's quest but damn hoyo for making me sob again xD I love Neuvillette so much. We must protect him and the Melusines!!!
check drivers, boostdriver can help you, in my PC i had the same issue but after installing some windows C# C++ programs it works, no lagging cutscene anymore.
But the ending is so satisfying and warm-wearthed. Melusines are finally accepted among humans and Fontainians are not racist anymore. Such good conclusion.
Man neuvillette is also a top tier spymaster, every drop of rain and water records for him but he rarely ever uses that power because of the overwhelming emotions
When I first encounter Neuvi, I had this first impression of him that he might look like a very serious guy but he has this sad vibes/aura. I thought it was how the devs created him but it all interconnect when the traveler had a hunch he is the hydro dragon and his story quest. I just hope he will stop being sad because i'm getting emotional for him ( ꈨຶ ˙̫̮ ꈨຶ )
Neuvillette's cutscene is special to me, not only it's emotional but it's also relatable imo. From losing your loved ones, reminiscing the past, feeling excluded, questioning your existence, that is something we have experienced at least once
Neuvilette can sense all the water around Fontaine since he has a deep connection with water as being the sovereign of the water element. He cries for some reason but notably, i assume that he does it so that he can observe all of the people of fontaine and their feelings. He sends the water as a form of the rain everywhere, senses how the people think of the trials and his judgements, and also tries to get accustomed to the human society by feeling them from the sky. In the cutscene, he is everywhere. He goes to the past he left behind and then to the present he is in, he sees a lot of memories and scenes from his past belongs to he time before him getting into the human society and being the chief justice, free just like the water and omnipresent just like the rain itself, gazing all the people from the sky. He cries because he feels alone, yet he continues to adore melusines as they are just like him, trying to be a part of the human society. As long as the rain falls, Fontaine will be in the safe hands of his, no matter how alone it may feel.
What’s interesting to me is when we ended up seeing “his” memories. We follow him through meeting two very important people in his life and how it all started out. But then you see stuff he wasn’t even there for. Those weren’t HIS memories. They were Carole and Vautrin’s memories. They were showing us what happened from their point of view for neuvillette’s sake and closure. It’s obviously haunted him for years, and we were able to give him the closure he needed through them.
Do not cry old friend, the monsters of old have now been vanquished, naught but sediment on the ocean floor, rest easy knowing your hard work has paid off
I watched this cutscene when I had an existential crisis and this cutscene hit hard on me. Now in 4.5, this is still the best cutscene by far in my opinion. Love you Neuvillette
This story quest is related to me. I am also living in Australia and they hate me because of my looking. Im Korean but they always called me 'Chinese' and showed me their hatred. I hope they will be changed like people in Fontaine.
It likely took centuries for the different species to co-exist in Fontaine. Besides paying tribute to the great ones who fought for equality (in any form), this story also acknowledges the hardship of eliminating discrimination in reality.
I like the plot twist that Neuvilette was overthinking things concerning the melusines. Normally you'd expect a confrontation with Vautrin's follower because it has been hinted at.
“How can two completely different species possibly co-exist” Hearing that as a dragon from a human must’ve felt so isolating and rejecting 😭 even if it was about the Melasines. No wonder he feels separated from Fontaine people after seeing how they treat other species.
2:11 WAIT, is that Focalors talking? The actual divinity form? After the 4.2 Archon Quest this all makes the most sense. In the end he really did bring judgement over all of Fontaine.
@@WakingAPGamerit’s definitely not because the tone of voice is different and she only gave him the letter inviting him to the court and the first time he sees her is in the 4.2 scene. It’s most likely Furina but like, the voice is also very very different and I’m so curious as to why her voice is much more mature. Idk man it’s such a different vibe and even when Furina is not acting her voice doesn’t sound like that
@@2triedforthis830 it feels more accurate if its Focalors voice cause Furina did not know anything about deceiving the heavenly principles(the whole plan) as Focalors herself confirmed that she didnot tell Furina about it so there's no way Furina would have been able to predict the future that Nevillete will pass judgement over all of Fontaine as after all, she is just a human(Focalors' humanity form). I feel that maybe these lines were told by Focalors to Neuvillete in his dreams as Neuvillete didnot meet Focalors before and of course Forcalors is an archon(God) so she can do anything right
I return for that voiceline lol, idk who send the invitation to Neuvillette but i think there are 2 possibilities: 1. Foçalors, but Neuvillette it's remembering with Furina's voice bcs in this moment he don't know "Foçalors Divinity". 2. Furina, but maybe with Open feelings or serius (bc the 500 years acting moment of Act 5 (the inform of the water) talk similar for the situation); or just Neuvillette's interpretation of the letter. These are My thoughts xd
@@WakingAPGamer the only explanation I could think of is that the English team decided to make Furinas voice different last minute during 4.2, like that’s the only explanation😭 or maybe it’s just the voice neuvilette portrays in his head and uses Furinas voice or something
He coud sense the emotions in the water, that's why when it rains he can see people emotions... The scene was ended by him knowing that his dreams came true, the whole story was just because he felt regret over the death of Creole and he should've helped her... I think Its easy to say he is the best charecter in the game
Is that Furina who said about "You will be placed to bring judgement"? I used JP version and I was sure that was Furina's voice, but in English, im not so sure
Story of Neuvilette took the archon role deeper than the hydro archon itself. Even deeper than Furina story (just about musical drama). Neuv = Nahida = Zhongli = Raiden = Venti
nah cuz this hits even hard after the 4.2 aq... like neuvi doesn't even work with furina anymore and she left the palais mermonia yet he still thinks back on her words and even immerses himself in the rain to think back on that day when he received a letter from focalors/furina (potentially both of them presplit..?) shown in his character story 4
2:39 The cutscene music is so good, but this one isn't released by Hoyo Mix yet, even though they just released four discs for Fontaine Edit: On second thought, this track is a more orchestrated version of Pluie sur la ville
It’s honestly really said some of the lines in this game pertaining to the Hydro Dragon… “It often rains on days where there are trials at the Opera House” “Yeah, you’re right, it’s been raining nonstop for days now.” These were before we knew Neuvillette was the Hydro Dragon, it’s honestly sad to think that when he first came to Fontaine he was probably so stressed and crying nonstop, after all the rain are his tears so they weren’t exactly visible on his face either…
