I wish you good luck. I'd love it if you stopped by here or Instagram and let me know how it went. I think the rifle tag is a better bet over archery season.

@@MountainRat sure thing....I'm actually going to start in one of the non Ruby units that I gave knowledge of. 1000+ rifle tags this season. Gonna be a zoo.

Cool video. Do the goats just just hang around if they’re not spooked?
@MountainRat
@MountainRat 2 года назад
They do hang around most of the time. They are kind of like a dog, they like to be near you. You need to put up a line or have a method of tying them up if you do not want them to follow you when leaving camp.

We saw you and your goats up at the trail head. I’m glad I found this. The East Humboldt are tough mountains!

Nice video. Make sure you get your goats tested for MOVI being in Bighorn and Mountain Goat country. The Ruby’s are a real special place.

Great video! I live in Reno and I'm planning on taking up archery next season (finances willing) strictly to be able to hunt every year by putting in for a few units near me that are nearly 100% draw (for residents). I figure while they'll be tough hunts, I can dial them in year after year.
@MountainRat
@MountainRat 2 года назад
Exactly. The more time you spend in an area exploring the better your success. I think getting into bow hunting will just give you more time to play in the woods!

Hey me and some friends are planning a trip in the next year or 2 would you be willing to share some info from your hunt?
@MountainRat

Sorry I missed this. I don't know that I have any good info for ya. I would just hot any trailhead and get as high as possible. We didn't have the best of luck.

Have your goats been tested for Movi. In BC it has wiped out wild sheep herds. There is a massive push to keep domestic sheep/goats away from wild ones.
@MountainRat
@MountainRat 2 года назад
I'll have to look into that. We keep them up on their shots and we have a similar issue with our domestic sheep herds spreading the disease. From what I understand is that is where the big threat comes from is large domestic herds moving through areas. Whatever the case may be, we do not take them into sheep country. Nowhere close.

There are Rocky Mountain Bighorns in the Rubies / East Humboldts.

Great vid. Use horses and lamas. Goat r kool. What weight can they carry? Thanks 4 takin us along.
@MountainRat
@MountainRat 2 года назад
They carry about 25% of their body weight. Our goats are 200lbs so they carry up to 50lbs each. But we usually load them at about 35lbs. A little extra when packing out meat.
