Many people think that it's only when you break down or take a wrong turn is when you're on a true adventure. I tend to disagree. Traveling solo, into unfamiliar places, especially in desolate and truly remote locations - now that's adventure! Riding alone isn't for everyone, but I've learned to really appreciate it. Loving the "daily diary" format of the series so far (even though I'd love watching the entire thing as a movie!!!). Thanks for bringing us along!
totally agree. I rode from MN to MT (and back) last year, 3000 miles alone. No dirt road, just regular back roads. Great travel experience. I faced strong wind, cold, snow, heat, rain. And some nice sunny days too.
As much as I love your BDR documentaries, I enjoy these lone wolf relaxed travel adventure documentaries even more. Thank you for sharing your adventures. They're very inspiring.
Its definitely a different experience. I enjoy the contrast of group rides or rides with Eva and then the solo rides. I'm fortunate to be able to do all of them at different times. Thank you.
I like that Sterling nearly always manages cooking simple meals and having an adult beverage to relax with. Very laid bag. Great lighting and natural ambiance.
Wow! What a sunrise! Strawberry shortcake for breakfast? Now that’s living! 👍🏻 It’s not just the sights you see but also the people you meet that makes motorcycle travel so great.
LOVE it! Here's my ONE suggestion, for your consideration. Someday you will end a new tent. Do NOT buy another 1-Man tent! The 2-man takes up very little extra space, comparatively, but affords a MUCH less claustrophobic living experience!
I have a two person tent that I’ve been using for a very long time, but for me I don’t spend a lot of time in the tent so the one person tent works great! Thanks for the comment!
Back in the 90's I was coming back from working at a mine. Off in the distance a guy was waving frantically in the heat of the desert mirage. He staggered up to my truck and the first thing he said was you just saved my life. He been stuck in a desert wash for days in a station wagon. It was that same road.
Oh man, I can't wait for the next video to drop. It's been hard without any new videos - I keep looking around RU-vid but nothing compares to you saying "Well hello there" or "Well good morning" as you start out your video. When are we going to see the rest of the series start being released?
Loved the opening montage. The most dreaded part of moto camping is the morning packup. Welcome to Oregon and thanks for filming the new OBDR...we've been without an "official" route for so long...not that the "unofficial" one was that bad, but we really needed an update.
I really enjoy and appreciate your travel videos. I've personally been having a rough couple of weeks but watching your videos gives me some inspiration and helps ground me, resets my perspective on things a little. Thanks for your excellent work.
There are lots of snow-capped mountains in Nevada (and every other state on this trip), which is named after the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountain range ("Sierra Nevada" means "snow-covered mountain range" in Spanish), which is home to the tallest peak in the contiguous US (Mt. Whitney, at 14,505 ft/4,421 m). The mountains around the Black Rock desert are part of the Black Rock range, which have a high point of 8,566 ft (2,611 m), and do get snow, as do many other mountain ranges in Nevada...if your definition of "mountain" is "snow-capped", then by your own definition, what you see here are mountains. Also, this guy is from Arizona, which has snow-capped mountains of its own, and he just rode through the aforementioned Sierra Nevada. I don't think he's a stranger to the concept of "mountains have snow" lol
Back in 2015 my last year in the national guard I went to NTC(national training center) for the 14 day's we were in the desert right outside the park. Every night the wind would pick up just as we went to bed the sand would blow so hard I had to sleep with my blouse over my head
Hello sir my name is Tom Bolton I have been following your videos 4 Years and love them you had me at 99% until I watch this video the Twinkies in the strawberries for strawberry shortcake for breakfast was the other 1% I am now 100% you are the man a ride adventure myself I used to have a GS then I had a Multistrada 950 s now I have a multistrada v4S loaded for adventure please keep up the good work I look forward to meeting you one day at your Motel in Arizona God bless ride hard and be bad LOL
I have the same tent for moto camping. As soon as I saw it I thought boy I hope hes out of there before the sun gets high. And lo you were watching the sun rise. Never have to worry about being cold in that tent!
Meeting people, making new friends. One of the many great things travelling by motorcycle provides. Of course, travelling, in general, provides those experiences. It's just better on a bike!
Good vid. Enjoy the drone footage. Luckily you don't have to dodge the trees. There's a lot of nothing in Nevada. Just amazing scenery. Some sand and gravel operations along the road. I inspected some out there. The mines have camps for the workers and they bus them in. 10 day or two week rotations. Old time work. Seems all the main roads run east west. The interesting ones run north south. The BDR will certainly be interesting. Looking forward to seeing that. Stay safe
Another great bunch of episodes there mate. We love sitting down at the end of the day to see what you're up to. Do me a favour...send us some sun, freezing our butt's off here in the UK...lol Have fun filming your new project, sounds exciting mate, wishing you all the best my friend from not so sunny UK 😎 😀
I have thoroughly enjoyed this episode and the previous 8 episodes. You really have your shit together, Sterling. You are an inspiration. I rode Harley Davidson motorcycles in my younger years. Loved the open road and back roads of our beautiful country and the many friends I mad during my travels Your remote adventures on your BMW now enables me to understand I missed a completely different set of adventures. I am now 76 years old, disabled and wheelchair bound. Thank you for doing what you do. I can't get enough of your stories and videos. God's peace to you.
Hay...Awesome, your videos are a great way to start my Sunday morning! And....I was lucky to catch a viewing of your Oregon BDR film a few weeks ago, and those films just get better and better! Really enjoyed it! Thanks again
Welcome to Northern Nevada. Yes, it is that remote for those that have never been here. It's perfect for those in which Silence is Golden. The early pioneers must have felt that God had abandoned them on their journey to the West.
Sterling you’re the best at what you do. Such great landscapes and meeting the local bike nut was a fun timeout. You also have that Huell Howser instinct.
Great Great series. Love this trip you’re on. As a beginner to intermediate ADV Rider, I am learning so much from you. Can’t wait for each and every episode. Watching it with my son Bubba J (Joshua)
Another great Sunday morning here on my farm. Fresh scrambled eggs from my free roaming chickens. Salsa made from my year round garden. And the cherry on top, another episode of motorcycle adventure with Sterling. Happy trails and safe rides. Looking forward to the next adventure.
Loved the bit about putting on the boots, and the fantabulous drone shots thereafter. Looking forward to the resumption of this story after three weeks.
I want you to know Sterling that your channel is the first thing I'm thinking to watch when It's my day off. :) I'm also subscribe to RideBDR channel. Just FYI :) Stay safe in Oregon. :)
Inspiring and gorgeous content as always, Sterling. Always love your videos. But strawberry Twinkie shortcake for breakfast!…now THAT’s inspiring, my dude. Can’t wait for my next moto camp.
Can't wait for the next episode. Such high quality everything from filming, to riding to commentary to editing. I can only imagine the amount of work that went into this series. Very well done!
Its the little things i enjoy watching from you, from putting on your boots and pants without touching the dirt, its tricky sometimes, to eating strawberry shortcake, simple things that are a part of enjoying this adventure. thanks
XLNT. Thanks for posting the maps. Not only did you come quite close near Sonora, I'll be looking forward to seeing Vancouver Island, a place I've wanted to visit for some time.
It was a great encounter with philip.. But I think he is not an American he have such an accent like he is a French speaker at base Anyway as always it was a nice episode
Hi! I'm just wondering where are you? I've been waiting for a new episode and I have to admit that now I'm even worry about you! Hope you're ok... I miss your episodes!
I'm really enjoying your videos. You tell a great story and capture/ document your adventures very well. I just found your channel and find myself watching pretty much all your videos. We have many of the same interests and goals for adventures. Keep up the great work. I hope to cross paths one day on the trail. 🍻
Number one! Numero uno, my friend! Thank you, Sterling for sharing with us! Your videography is top quality and your choices of motoadventures are top notch. By far, yours is our favorite channel. Thank you, my friend.
Apple had the friendly welcoming sound when you switched on your Macintosh. Sterling has the R1200GS Rallye kicking into life. Lovely episode by the way!
You are a true inspiration. Becuse of your videos I'm planning my first solo ride. I'm 65 years old and have been riding since I was 16 (raced MX for a lot of those years and one cross country race where I placed 5th out of 135 riders so I am experienced). I think my future solo rides will be the best I've ever had thanks to your videos. Keep up the great work and videos. I hope to visit you some day.
Sterling, this series is awesome...really enjoying it. Thank you for exploring northern Washoe Country where my family has history and a lot of great camping and chukar/deer hunting memories. Absolutely nothing like camping out in Nevada with very little moon and incredible stars. Thanks again.
Thanks for another great episode. Riding in the American vastness is quite different from tiny Europe. Safe travels, while I'm getting things done for my (mostly offroad) ride in Romania on the venerable Honda Transalp 600. Günter/Nürnberg
I am seriously enjoying both the trip and the artistry of the camerawork. And the chow looks pretty good, too! I mean, Twinkies and strawberries? Honestly, does life get any better than that? 😉 Oh, and, yeah, all the best roads in Nevada are dirt roads! 😃
Twinkie & strawberries in the middle of the desert for dessert brilliant. As always inspiring video especially when watching on a cold Sunday in BC, Canada.
