Tyler, suggestion: 4 ft extension high using same sprinkler heads. Next, using your excellent welding skills, cage each against cattle. T posts w/barbed wire would do. Result, less time spent doing same job repeatedly.

You could drive a steel post by those sprinklers and add a few feet of plastic pipe to get the sprinkler above the post then clamp the riser pipe to the post. You could see them all if you’re driving in the pasture or mowing. Cows could still damage them but not quite as easy.

Once you mentioned rattlesnakes, I was nervous you would encounter one in every grassy area! Two questions about snakes: are they a danger to the cattle, and do you give your dogs snake aversion training so they don’t get bitten by a snake?

I enjoy your videos and watching your ranch thrive. Just a suggestion on the pasture sprinklers. Maybe put a 3" PVC pipe over each sprinkler riser and pound it in so just the sprinkler head is exposed. This might give the riser a bit more protection from the herd pushing against them. Happy Ranching to you and your family.

To be honest with you, when i get a run of rotted out posts like that, with stumps left in the ground, it looks like an awfully good spot to put in a walk through gate. I put the walk through gate posts each side of the first stump in the ground, that then offsets the rest of the holes for the new posts enough that i can just dig all new holes and not worry about the stumps left in the ground...

On your sprinkler heads to keep them protected why don't u set a 4x4 post at each head and run the pvc up the post then at abut 2 ft or so mount the head there. that would keep the cows from breaking it off so easy. Cut the post at the height u want the head.

FTR or anyone else, has anyone ever thought about building a 1 foot round hollow hole saw out of a good solid steel pipe that could be driven off of a post hole set up ? I don’t think it would be too hard and then you could just run it around the rotted off post to cut the ground hopefully making the post pull out easier. Just a thought.👍🙏🏽🇺🇸✌🏻😎

I've seen you so many times fix sprinklers that break the bulls. And I think this will continue to be a recurring work. Wouldn't it be a solution to make the sprinkler of the right height, place a plastic tube with a fairly large diameter over it just below the sprinkler so that it can still spray the water and then fill it with concrete ? Of course, the plastic pipe will have to be buried in the ground and I also think that you have to drive some iron poles deeper into the ground so that the bulls cannot push the construction over. It is just an idea which will involve some work at the moment but in the long run it may save a great deal of working time and costs.

@@robertensign8786 I'm willing to wager that every bit of hay grown in northern Nevada gets trucked to the central valley of California. That's more than a few hundred miles.

@@TJbaseliner that is true, but it’s mainly high end horse hay and high end dairy quality alfalfa that gets trucked. It’s not “cow hay”. In this episode the most interesting thing to me was the well system. Do you know the year it was placed. Is your home also connected to same well or is it just for the cows? About how much does it cost to run the well? Typing this I realized that you could not be using it for your house because you said it is a bit rusty at first because you only use it in the summer.

@bobkelly2447
@bobkelly2447 3 месяца назад
man I dunno ! I would think there would be a better setup for the sprinklers in the steer pasture.... problem is WHAT ? you can't put in a post on each one because then ya can't mow it. and the cow's can hurt themselves real bad on just a post sticking out of the ground so a post idea is out. maybe there is a quick disconnect fitting that you could use on the base of each sprinkler ? cheap plastic ones and above them use thin wall pipe. Cows will still brake them off but you could simply glue up a bunch of replacements and just pop them in as they break them off similar to what your doing now but it would be faster in the long run.... but those plastic fittings aren't real cheap and you would need a ton of them and you would still need your plumbing gear with you to repair a few as some of the new fittings would fail instead of the pipe..... $150~$200 bucks is alot of money to try something that may or may not be better.... what your doing now works, it's cheap and it doesn't take too long because you already know the drill....maybe a flexible hose section that will bend instead of brake is the answer here ? that shouldn't be too expensive but still have the strength to hold the sprinkler up maybe ???? or a couple of water cannons ? their's got to be a better way.....
