Actually the best he ever played in his later years was under Lubicic. The 2017 Federer was the best ever, almost matching his peak levels from 2004 to 2008

That's fantastic. And, actually, the two points straight after were beautiful, too. As someone else mentioned - after the first set, Roger took out the pace Istomin was feeding on and then completely foxed him with just placement and cunning.

Don't tell that dude on the Goatkovic channel. He's made it his life's mission to explain to the world that Roger played during a "weak era"...cuz...you know..."dominating" from 2011-present (minus his post-2016-RG to Wimbledon 2018 and 2020) when you only had 3 serious competitors to worry about is NOT a "weak" era. He's probably got more videos attacking Roger's legacy than he does devoted to Djokovic. That's the great thing with Roger fan channels - they don't use them to tear down other players just because they see them as a threat to Roger's legacy.

@@paulelverstone8677 what I would be interested in though, is his BP career conversion against Nadal/Djokovic and compare the numbers. I bet it will be way lower than 41%. But I do not know where to get such data.
