You raise some good points, but those are what convinced me to go with SS. I used the aluminum for almost a month and was going to return it without replacing it. As much I love the functions, as with the Fitbit and Galaxy watch I tried in the past, I always came back to finding I was unwilling to replace my premium watch with a light plastic-y gadget. I found reviews of the SS that made me willing to try it. I love the finish, the weight, and even the sapphire has a much more premium feel than the Ion-X glass. Adding a plum color leather link band with the watch’s gold finish gives it almost a retro look - like some of the bulky rectangular watches Bulova came up with in the late ‘60s. It really gives me the feel of wearing a bonafide premium watch. I’m very happy with it after about a month of daily use.
I’m in construction and there is no way I can do an aluminum watch and survive without looking destroyed within a year. Stainless steel won’t dent and any minimal scratches can be polished out back to its original new shine very easily, and aluminum can not. It’s worth the extra money in my case.
@@fluffy_kitten Also bullshit, the case material matters just as much as the glass material, if you do not think so you're lucky to be a light user with a office job. The Ion glass is not suitable for anything else than light wear
I had the Series 1 in Aluminium then changed to the Series 5 in Stainless Steel and won’t go back to Aluminium. My reasons: 1) it looks SO much nicer on my wrist 2) I had so many scratches on the Series 1 screen and I’m not a fan of screen protectors on watches 3) I also had a lot of dents in the Aluminium body. I do have scratches on the Stainless Steel, but polished it’s really hard to see them. Unfortunately a dent in the Aluminium won’t get polished out. So for me it’s the Stainless Steel, though I would now probably rather try and get a deal for it, 730 bucks is really a crazy price I probably won’t pay a second time.
Agreed, stainless steel is the way to go especially with the metal being harder than aluminum. The stainless steel model is overall the better choice unless you’re on a budget or simply want something lighter.
Sorry to bust your bubbles... But if you think because sapphire is on Rolex's it means it's justified to blow more money on the Apple watch that has it. There are sub-$100 watches out there right now with sapphire glass. Including a few Casios, but a lot of Chinese brand mechanicals. Hell there are multiple Citizen solar quartz, radio controlled, titanium models you can get for $200-$300 that have sapphire also. Sapphire is no big deal the crystals are ever so slightly more expensive than mineral glass, which is me saying that can be bought in bulk for less than $5 per crystal.
1-sapphire is far superior to screen protector 2-stainless scratches can be polished out, no so with aluminum 3-people often associate weight or heft as quality and the difference is less than metal vs silicone band anyway.
The point remains: Brushed aluminum is more scratch resistant than polished stainless steel. That was my point. A buyer will acquire more scratches quicker because it’s polished and they’ll have to take it to a place and spend money to polish it. Or spend money to polish it themselves. The point was, as a consumer you should know that the more expensive one is going to gather more visible scratches and nicks on it.
I used to get the Aluminum watches but I won’t go back. My glass scratched up so bad (but I do take your screen protector point), the aluminum itself scuffed a bit over time, I think the stainless steel looks a lot better and classier than aluminum, the weight increase is negligible to me like they’re both so light I don’t really feel the difference, and with the series 7 I don’t think the aluminum colors are great because there isn’t really a neutral option for color. The price is a bit crazy for a stainless but if you’re savvy and don’t buy it from Apple you won’t pay near that price. Every stainless I’ve ever gotten was used or refurbished. I have a S7 45mm stainless that was mint condition refurbished and eligible for Apple Care + that I picked up a few weeks back for $479. That’s barely any more money than the aluminum. I wouldn’t ever pay the $749 starting a stainless comes in at but if it’s almost the same price as the aluminum to me it’s a no brainer to get the better material
Were did you find the the used one? Ebay? THey are dropping now but the lowest I see is still $600 on amazon. ALl my other non-apple watches (citizen, tag heuer, cartier, etc) are all Stainless w/ sapphire (except for G shock of course).
Definitely the reason the aluminum kinda sucks. The glass just looks bad after a while and then if you chose to keep it pretty you just ruin the looks with protection added lol.
Respectfully disagree. Had stainless on my 1 & 3 and never had a scratch or sign of damage. A friend who worked for Apple said the aluminium version is the same so I gave it a try. Real quickly it showed wear and tear quicker and then a scratch of the screen made me regret it. So series 8 back to stainless and couldn’t be happier
@@Spazza42 Huh? The screen protector is a tiny film layer. It weighs not even a gram. Cmon. At least attempt to present a good argument. And why did you say “small?” The watch is the same size. And if you still disagree, you should know I’ve upgraded to titanium so I get the benefits of it being LIGHT but also premium sapphire crystal…
Yeah, I’ve dented the aluminum Apple Watches and never had that problem with stainless. I don’t care about the weight, I beat up on my gear and the aluminum never held up for me.
Good video from a cost-effectiveness standpoint. I currently have an Apple Watch SE without a screen protector and I have owned it for about 2 years. It did get a bit scratched. However, I certainly feel like the Apple Watch Stainless Steel with the sapphire crystal feels quite a step from a quality standpoint above when you look at it. As someone mention, the screen looks like a jewel. Paired with an Hermès band, Milanese loop or a good vegan leather band, it looks like a phenomenal timepiece. As for the stainless steel micro-scratches, those can be easily polished out once a year. I recently purchased a S7 SS 45mm refurbished as an upgrade from my SE and I certainly notice the stark difference, while being cost-conscious.
I had a aluminum series 6 and I traded in for the series 7 silver stainless steel. I love my stainless steel. I won’t go back to aluminum. And it’s not heavier then the aluminum. I have the 41 mm. I don don’t agree with his opinion.
Was this your first stainless steel Apple Watch? Ive already had two. I have cited reasons to get the aluminum over the stainless steel: - Scratch Resistant (stainless steel scratches easily) - Weighs Less, Feels better on your wrist. - Costs less. - a newer, better watch will be out in 1 YR and your money put into the stainless steel will depreciate quickly. If you disagree, why?
I think if you hold onto the watch for at least a few years then the stainless steel is a fine value. Especially if you’re buying a cellar model anyway.
@@Eanicus at the end of the day, the display doesn’t scratch on the stainless steel, the stainless steel only scratches easy with the silver steel, and the steel is not gonna dent if you drop it
Actually I was confused in between these two types of same watches. Thanks to you man, you have made my mind crystal clear. Now I will definitely not go for the stainless..
I just purchased a series 7 stainless for cheaper than an aluminium series 8 and they are basically the same Watch. Was pretty happy with the deal. Looks premium and wasn’t too bulky(unlike the Apple Watch ultra) . Saphire screen is a massive bonus
@@_No20_ its around the same weight as the alu a little bit more lighter but if the titanium got any coat it'll going to scratch like ss and titanium could chipping also.
Cheap stuff usually is lighter. Ive had my series 1 stainless steel this whole time and it still looks brand new. And no the body on aluminum doesn’t last longer than the stainless steel. You may say, thats a single experience, but I sell these things for a living. I see them everyday.
Same. I used a stainless steel for 4yrs and it still looks brand new, I bumped it so many times and couldn’t believe it wasn’t scratched, bumped on brick, cars, metal poles etc. I know people with aluminum watches and they always look super worn and scratched up.
This guy is a bit misinformed. SS can always be polished to remove the scratches, not gonna happen with aluminum. saphire glass (can’t scratch) like a premium watch, never having to buy a crappy screen protector for your watch matters. SS looks better with all bands too, more premium looking. Weight is NOT an issue. I’ve owned both models, never felt the weight difference.
The crucial message I get from your video is that each Apple Watch type serves different preferences. You prefer the aluminum version for its lighter weight, sporty look, and budget-friendly qualities. By contrast, I prefer the stainless steel version for its heavier weight, elegance, and resemblance of a traditional timepiece. Further, the Ultra version serves those who want maximum utility, durability, and battery life. Ultimately, there’s no universally 'best' Apple Watch; there's only the best one for you.
I'm guessing the same person that minds one bubble appearing on their screen is the same person that will value the aesthetics and quality of a stainless steel version.
After my first stainless steel Apple Watch I won’t go back. I like how the Watch looks more like jewelry. It does scratch however if you get some cape code polishing cloths it buffs The scratches out. I also like the heavier watch it just feels better to me.
I’m thinking about getting a stainless steel series 7 refurbished for cheaper than an aluminum one. Personally I like the stainless steel, it does way more but that also makes it feel more premium. The weight makes the Watch feel more like a traditional watch. I want the more durable glass and the more noticeable looks because I always see aluminum Apple Watches. Ever since the Apple Watch first came out I’ve seen one person in public with a stainless steel watch.
I have both aluminum and silver ss Series 7 and the screen on the ss looks better to my “more mature” eyes. I personally like the weight of the ss version as well and I also enjoy looking at it as opposed to the aluminum. However, for workouts I reach for the aluminum because I don’t want to scratch my ss. A simple bumper could solve that issue and a quick rub with Mother’s Mag & Aluminum Polish will take scratches right out. I was a fool and didn’t get my screen protector on my aluminum before putting a nice scratch across it, nothing terrible but I see it when the light hits it just right. Unfortunately I did the same with my 13PM, live and learn.
Hmmm. I didn't know that. TBH I was starting to look for videos because I am very happy with my purchase. I only had 2 apple watches, the 42mm series 4 with an elastic band and the 45mm series 7 stainless steel with milanese loop. My old watch was scratched to hell. Well not big scratches, but you know, tones of micro-scratches. On the screen, on the body, everywhere. I had the series 7 for 1 year now, not a scratch on it. It looks brand new. I think it's due to the sapphire screen, but also the body is made out of a material that also doesn't scratch. Looks shiny and new. On the other hand, it was the most expensive model they had last year. So that might be an indicator too.
My 1st Watch was the Product Red S7. Three months after the AWU released I saw the trade in for the S7 was the same regardless of material. Took $200 off the AWU. Love it. Double the battery & even more durable than a stainless steel/titanium S7
I bought the steel so I don’t need a screen protector. I just don’t like the colors in the aluminum and I have more options for bands because I don’t have to worry about clashing colors.
I’m getting the stainless steel silver watch tmrw. I have had an aluminium Apple Watch for 5 years and the sides are super scratched up. I’m going with the silver one specifically because it isn’t painted, I will be able to polish the stainless steel sides and remove all the micro scratches. FYI this is not possible on the other colours because they use painted coatings. Stainless steel silver is the only one. I think you have raised some great points but I think the stainless is right for me :)
I'm currently using the aluminum series 7, and the screen is so susceptible to damage that simply brushing against my wall put a huge scratch mark on the corner. Alongside that, the aluminum, in my opinion, just looks cheap. I much prefer the glossy finish that the stainless steel provides opposed to a plastic look that the aluminum provides. Weight never mattered that much to me because I know after a week of wearing it I won't even notice it's weight. The ONLY downside I see to the stainless steel is it's price and fingerprint marks, but that's a price I'm willing to pay. (No pun intended.)
There are obviously different type of watch users out there. I personally and I know a lot of people who like a heavy watch and they want to be aware of carrying one. In the watch world (not only smartwatch) a watch can also be a statement which reflects the look you like, like a tattoo! This includes a nice band. So either if you like it to fade away and be barely noticeable and be great for sports, or you want this as an accessoir which is shiny, heavy and has a band which is not water resistant like most regular watches, you're good. It depends on what you like. But when you say that there is absolutely no reason to get a steel one, sorry but this is just wrong. But it is totally fine when there is no reason for you personally to get one.
Thanks for the comment. I agree with the jewelry/shiny use case which I mentioned in my “Part II” follow up video to this. If somebody wants to buy Stainless Steel simply to wear as jewelry, I can’t argue with that. Because it IS in fact shinier/more reflective. For everyone else, who uses it as it’s intended purpose: a health tracking, smart wearable watch, stainless steel is pointless. I also disagree with you about weight. You said some people “like heavy”….? I don’t think this is true. If you showed somebody the same exact thing but ones lighter, people are choosing the lighter one, ESPECIALLY if they are WEARING IT, …..just my two cents. But we can agree to disagree on that.
Not everyone can afford a series 7,8,9 etc. Some of us in different parts of the world earn a basic wage or we have more important commitments/priorities. There’s nothing wrong with the Apple Watch SE with ION-X glass if you’re looking for a basic function Apple Watch and you are not a rough user. If scratches still concern you, get a branded tempered glass or full cover film. I work in an office and I’ve been using my SE for a year plus, don’t see any scratches on the body or the glass itself.
A month ago i bought a stainless steel apple watch 8 series. Today the screen cracked a little bit after a 1 meter fall. Didn't exepected it. I saw some videos of apple watch ultra and seemed extremely restistant. I don't understand though. Isn't it made from the same stuff as the ultra? (saphire glass for the stainless steel model) Anyone had the same issue? Thanks.
I have the aluminum s8 and it’s scratched. I just got the Ultra because of the titanium, the sapphire crystal, better speakers and microphones. I’ve also ordered a titanium link band which will be BOSS. I use the cellular to listen to RU-vid on my AirPods Pro 2 when I skateboard and don’t want to carry my bulky phone but still need to be available for my boss or my daughter plus I have Apple Pay and my DL, Bank Cards on me with my Apple wallet which I put a carbon-fiber money clip with an AirTag epoxied onto. Works perfectly for minimal EDC while exercising outdoors. I’ll use the ultra for work (construction) and rugged activities. I’m going to order a wet application, glass, screen protector for the S8 and use it when on evenings out, when I’m charging the Ultra , or times I don’t need a rugged watch or long battery life.
Well, I am on my second Apple Watch, the aluminium version. I have just bought, 3 days ago, AW Series 9 and before it I had AW Series 6 - both aluminium. I had the AW 6 for 3 years and I wore it almost every day. Except some minor fine scratches (that can be seen only in strong light) it has NO scratches - when you look at it in the normal light looks brand new. I admit I took care of it and I am working in an office - herefore, not in risky conditions. On the other hand, even if I have the Series 9 only for 3 days, I already scratch it (a fine scratch) when I just touched it on the go (not hit it) to the closet door -made from wood... With other words, it scratched very very easily, compared do the AW S6... What I noticed as a comparison between the two models is that AW S9 has much more prominent edges of the display. This is the spot where I scratched it. Even if it is a minor scratch which can be see only from some angles and in strong light...I am still ”shocked” of how easily it got scratched... From my point of view, the price difference between Stainless and Aluminium does not worth it - these are almost „single-use” devices - you will replace it in 2-3 years. In any case, I really think Apple should use for the base model a better glass. But still...this is a watch - something you wear it every day - it is absolutely normal to have scratches, more or less, depends of how you take care of it.
My first watch is aluminum (still in rotation and I use a case to prevent scratches. I upgraded to a SS Space Black watch and don’t see myself buying another aluminum watch. I prefer a heavier watch and the sapphire screen and the SS watches pair better with leather bands, in my opinion. If you don’t upgrade every year, a SS watch is reasonable.
Ok so I like you have bought the s3 and S4 stainless steel. Both A grade secondhand at around £350-400 (compared to £700 new). Apart from minor nicks on the stainless steal that buff out with metal cleaner the watch still looks new. As you say the main reason for Stainless steal is the glass and to be honest I NEVER have to worry about my watch. Friends I know don’t listen and offer buy the SE or even the S7/S8 but then have to stick a screen protector on and try to curve it over the glass which never feels the same or fits perfect with dust. Glass protectors are crap and flick off. Personally I am looking now at a series 6 SS for around £300 preowned as it should be mint. It’s a personal choice. Yes I have looked at s8 for same price but I would worry too much about the glass. It would have to be a superb glass protector that I haven’t seen yet to make me change my mind. If you have a link in Uk for these then please share. Cheers. 👍
The display in videos - the stainless display looks crisper or is this my imagination? The weight I never considered this. I can confirm that as a wrist banger, my watch casing has no scratches even after a year of heavy use. I was considering upgrading for the clearer display but the extra weight will annoy me more. Great video!
I upgraded from the Aluminium Series 4 to the Stainless Steel Series 8. I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner. The SS version is so much nicer to look at and it feels way more premium. I actually like the added weight. The sapphire glass also looks much better. Almost jewel like. It’s hard to explain but we you see both versions side by side, you’ll know what I mean. Never getting aluminium again
Nice. I’m about to pull the trigger for the series 8 ss. I had a series 6 aluminum and loved it but the face scratched so easily. And I can’t stand the look and feel of a screen protector on a watch. From what I’ve heard the ss screen holds up so I’m excited to give it a go and have a premium look
Just dropped almost $1,300 on the new 8 with the ss bracelet. I have no regrets, as I prefer quality fitness and material. And the sole reason I bought it? I wanted a decent ECG device.
Placebo affect buddy. Glass looks the same. You’ve talked yourself into thinking the Stainless Steel - is better. Only difference is that SS is more shimmery. You’re paying for shimmer. But look, you do you 🤷🏼♂️
Got a new S7 SS for $400 after S9 release. Previously I had aluminum S6 and tbh, SS looks like a real classic watch while aluminum gives me fitness tracker vibes. Moreover, aluminum aren’t available in normal colors - I don’t want blue, red or cream white. Black or grey are available only with SS now. LTE is a big advantage for those who live in supported areas.
All comments in favor of SS 😂. But the comments couldn't be more accurate. The appearance of the SS is absolutely superior. I will never go back to aluminum.
After watching this video i bought a stainless steel watch 7 , 1. Asthetics 2. Much more durable 3. Worth the money . If you crack or want a replacement of the aluminium screen just see the cost , it will blow your mind 😅
Enjoy! Just remember, it is 12.7 GRAMS heavier and shows scratches on the casing much easier. Google “Things that weigh 13 Grams” I think you’ll be shocked. But if you don’t care about those things than I am sure you will enjoy it! I simply refuse to have something 12.7 GRAMS heavier that I am wearing EVERY SINGLE DAY 😬 on my wrist. Titanium would be better IMO
I started with aluminum series 4 and gradually made it to stainless and now only Hermes. Weight problem? Its a watch not a brick. Better material better aesthetics will depend on your preference. No one needs Stainless but it certainly looks better, last longer aesthetically and yes…. My Aluminum cracked, i never dented any stainless.
Personal opinion. The weight is so small its not even noticeable. I wore aluminum versions from the beginning of the Apple Watch and swapped to SS in the series 6 and now the 7 and will never go back. SS is superior in looks, its like wearing jewelry.
Actually it’s not a small difference. 12.7 Grams to be precise. Google “things that weigh 13 grams” I think you’ll be shocked. Stainless Steel Series 7 45mm weighs 51.5 grams. Aluminum weighs 38.8
Weight is not an objective factor, silver stainless steel can be polished there are a million of videos on how to do it , while I do not agree with this person at all I do love regular watches and the stainless steel feels more like a proper watch than a convenience which is the POV of this guy, If you just want the convenience of the apple watch and do not see watches as an accessory or jewelry absolutely go for the aluminium version i would even say go for the 41mm since the OG big size was 42 , so you’re getting a lot with the base smaller size
if i wanted to wear a fine watch it wouldn't be an apple, that's just for day to day, (exercise, school, shopping) i would wear a classic watch and take my phone with me if i was going out to dinner.
guess it depends on your job though if you work in an office the apple stainless could be better but i'm not in that environment so doesn't make sense for me.
Want a durable all round smart Watch ? “Apple Watch Ultra”. Personally I would wait for next years model which could have slimmer bezels. By the way there’s a guy on RU-vid who has polished his Apple Watch Ultra for the ones who are curious to see what that looks like.
I’ve had a stainless steel one for almost 2 years and there’s not a single scratch on it. I’ve slapped this thing on metal shelves face first hundreds of times, and still doesn’t have a single nick or scratch on it. I got the stainless steel mainly because of the color lol. I HATED all of the aluminum colors, so it wouldn’t be worth wasting my money on a color I’d never wear. I wanted the gold to match my jewelry, and the aluminum gold was pink, which I can’t stand. The stainless steel one has held up much better than my sister’s aluminum SE, and I’ve had mine for a lot longer. I know people think it may be ridiculous to spend hundreds more just for the color, but I hate pink, so the real gold color was well worth it. Silver and space grey match with nothing I wear, so then again, the aluminum would’ve been a complete waste of money for me.
A little BS. Stainless steel is more resistant to scratches and sapphire is more resistant to scratches too. If you want a light watch, why not buy a watch made of titanium?
They also have hard cases on amazon. It protects the glass and body. Some ppl don’t like it but I have always used it on all my watches. I almost went the stainless steel route this year but after this video and also the good shape my aluminum watches are in - im sticking to aluminum. I am however upgrading to cellular this year. I want to reduce my screen time and going with a device that still syncs to my Apple Watch without all the social apps there as a distraction- is what will fill my needs. Thank you for your video!
Lol this guy is completely wrong. Go watch a different video or talk to someone who’s owned a ss for a long time and ask them how well it’s held up against getting scratched.
It is a question of preferences… i prefere by far the Stainless Steal one. I like better the look and the weight. In my opinion the stainless steal is way more easy to upscale the look depending on what i am wearing. So i disagree… but i respect your opinion… and you are pretty cute by the way. 😊
Ringke sells a stainless steel bumper for the Series 7-8-9 that mimics the original SS color options and make your Series 7-8-9 look like a stainless steel model and they're barely noticeable.
Had a stainless steel series 5 and a titanium series 7. I liked the look of the stainless more. But ultimately I would choose the titanium because of the weight. The aluminum just doesn’t look good to me.
Great video, I came to the same conclusion my self when I was on my second Apple watch . Im now loving the Aluminium models. To be honest tho, I now don’t even bother with a screen protector . My series 6 aluminium is holding up fine against scratches day to day.
Apple does state on its web n in the introductory videos for the AppleWatch that the non-aluminium watches have a sapphire crystal “glass” which is more scratch resistant than the glass for the aluminium models.
Correction, aluminum is softer than stainless steel & therefore not as durable. Yes, stainless steel can scratch but the same can be said for aluminum which can get dents & damage a lot easier PLUS stainless steel can be polished. Damage aluminum & nothing can be done to fix it. Stainless steel is also more expensive to manufacture hence the price & to your 1st point on weight, the user does not necessarily 'want' the technology to 'fade' into the background. Sure, this might be your preference but it's not accurate to speak for all watch users. The idea for watch & jewelry in general is users like to 'feel' the item, more weight is in most cases accompanied by better craftmanship/quality. It's reassuring for the user that they have a high-quality product. Personally, I feel "naked" if I don't have my watch on my wrist. If I decided to wear a watch that 'faded' into the background, I think that would defeat the purpose of a wearable. Perhaps if I were running/exercising then a lighter aluminum model would make sense but outside of that, not so much.
Correction. It’s lighter. 12.7 grams to be precise. I love how people keep trying to argue that heavier is a positive 🤣🤣 in what world? You do realize this is a health and activity watch right? Go head and slap a brick to your wrist and go for a run. I tell you what, when the Apple AR headset comes out. We’ll see who is right. Based on the material choice they use.
I couldn’t disagree with you more ! I wouldn’t buy an aluminium again ! I’ve had one & I’ve also had 2 SS, so much better. I’m only a small person & didn’t notice the weight at all. BTW I don’t have a scratch on my SS watches.
Same!! I have had 2 apple watches. My first was an aluminum one. Second watch I upgraded to the stainless steel Apple Watch series 6. Between the two I prefer the look of the stainless steel Watch. I still have my stainless steel Watch. The weight doesn’t bother me and I wear it to workout with no issues. Even though it is a couple of years old the stainless steel watch still looks brand new today with minimal scratches. My aluminum watch had scratches on it and looked worn after owning it for one year. Stainless steel all the way, you couldn’t possibly pay me to purchase another aluminum Apple Watch. Aluminum Watch is a total downgrade from the stainless Watch 😊
My first Apple Watch was aluminum. I upgraded to a stainless steel Apple Watch Series 6. Stainless steel all way! The stainless steel Watch overall looks better than the aluminum Watch! Personally for me the weight of the stainless steel does not bother me and I wear it to workout out in! I personally would never ever purchase another aluminum Apple Watch again! My Apple Watch stainless steel watch may be a few years old but it still looks brand new today with minimal scratches! My aluminum watch sadly had so many scratches and knicks on it after a year of use!
I have a stainless steel eight the aluminum ones would give me a rash on my wrist from the material so obviously I have some kind of allergy but on the stainless steel it’s fine
The top iPhones are much heavier than the simple models. The same with watch. I hate aluminium models. Looks plastic watch. Sapphire glass is fantástic. 6 years, no scratch. The same with body, few scratch not noticeable. The aluminium don’t make scratches. It loses paint and colour. Much worst. Also, stainless steel is expensive, but you get cellular and aluminium with cellular is also expensive. But the two things I can’t live with: the sapphire and the body. SS shines and it’s solid, it’s a peace of jewellery. The ultra don’t shines but it’s also solid. The aluminium is horrible, I hate it.
I still have the gold stainless steel Apple Watch series 4 and not one mark on it. It still has 88% battery health. The only reason I am considering the aluminium Watch is because it appears the resale value for the stainless steel version is the same as the aluminium version - even on the Apple site - shame on you Apple!
Your keys can't scratch sapphire crystal screen. To do that you need gemstone much harder than sapphire, for example diamond. But of course Apple's sapphire crystal screen is starts to scratch at same level with glass so no real difference there.
Everyone is different. I completely disagree. I like the stainless. Your reasons are wrong too. The weight of the stainless makes it seem much more higher quality. The price….big deal. And the stainless that I have has been very durable. So you’re just wrong on every point. Even on the cellular. Here’s the deal folks. If you’re poor, or cheap, get the aluminum.
It’s about user experience. If it was always about practicality, the iPhone would be all plastic, instead of stainless steel. Yes technology ideally has got to be about convenience but it’s also nice to have something that doesn’t feel or seem cheap. Why doesn’t everyone just wear crocs ? Why do people even bother with leather shoes? Why don’t Jordan just make all their shoes out of synthetic material ? It’s just a flawed argument.
Well, that is your personal opinion. This man never had a premium watch before in his whole life. Stain steel watches are supposed to be heavy, there for people that are used to premium watches want that weight and expect the sapphire crystal. Plus, no one ever told this fool that Stainless watches can be re polished and aluminum can’t.
i have the aluminum twice and the color get chip off easy even with case when you put on and off i have chip just buy changing my watch band my crew get chip may me switch to stainless steel it heavy becase it he stronger last longer if you have a case the stainless will last even longer
I don’t care much for the Apple Watch, or any other smart watch for that matter. But, I will say the stainless model, with the link band looks dressy and professional. This is something that cannot be pulled off with the aluminum watch. I’m not an office worker, so I would buy the aluminum, but the stainless model definitely has its place. Regarding glass bs sapphire…it’s simple sapphire won’t really scratch, but will shatter. The opposite is true for glass.
No you are not stupid to go for stainless steel coz it’s shinier. Tbh I was considering buying stainless gold variant just coz it looks dope it has no comparison. Had Apple launched gold colour this year I wouldn’t even bother to think about stainless steel. The thing I considered while making the purchase is the weight I was planning to wear it 24/7 and I would not like something heavy, my aluminium watch with solo loop is so light on the hand that I have stopped wearing silicon band. Secondly the price oh dear it’s too much for a watch. Although I have a different opinion on cellular, in my opinion leaving the phone at home and going for a jog is freedom. And also once I forgot my phone to the gym and had to make a call urgently and I dint have the Apple Watch then and I realised there could be a possibility that I’ll forget my phone in a jiffy but not a watch coz it’ll be sitting on my wrist all the time.
I’ve got series 6 space black titanium, and it blows all them out the water. Looks pristine after 2 years the aluminium Apple Watch looks like a cheap toy compared to the other watches. Do not listen to him, unless your on a budget do not buy the aluminium one.
