DO NOT ADD ALCOHOL BASED FRAGRANCE TO THESE! Plug ins work by heating up a fragrance oil mixture which is designed specifically for the unit. Colognes & perfumes on the other hand are made of alcohol. Alcohol is flammable!

To add an essential oil fragrance like lavender you must use a carrier oil. Unscented natural coconut oil or argon oil are 2 examples of carrier oils. Add a dozen drops of the scented Lavender into the carrier oil of your choice. A very very small amount of alcohol scented fragrance drops can also be placed inside the carrier oil, must be Mixed very well. And it ain't blowing nothing up. My Mother always did this back in the 80s and 90s, she would use a tiny pot and keep. It on simmer on her stovetop, first time she did this she walked in the kitchen and seen my Dad eating some 😂 he didn't know, I also do thhis sometimes especially around Halloween and Thanksgiving and peppermint around Christmas time 🙂
You're right perfume oils have alcohol in them. This is a recipe for a house fire. The insurance company may not pay on the claim after investigation- the homeowner started the fire.🤷🏾
The Febreze ones come off easy. The new Glade ones are a bitch to pry of.You end up spilling the liquid to try to refill to the empty one of another brand.
Hey all, from doing my research all you need to do is mix grapeseed oil (because it's a carrier oil that doesn't have a scent), water and your favorite essential oils. And woo-lah you got yourself a nice smelling home.
No water. That makes the wick blow up (from my experience). I think it needs a thin oil. I used avocado with my essential oils, and it didn't expand the wick, but it didn't seem to smell very much.

@@chynadoll9232 i just tried grapeseed oil and essential oils. So far so good. Not quite as strong as I'd like, but the scent is present and not overwhelming. I blotted the Air Wick stick too hard with paper towel to get the original scent out and broke the coating/wrapping so it puffed out a little. Still working though. Just can't easily refill it again.
I’m confused you buy glade plug-ins, and pour the oil out of those and put them into a diffuser. Why don’t you just buy essential oils… much cheaper than the plug-ins.
I use scissors and pop the top off. I pour the oil in an oil burner and huntee... yasss! ❤🎉. Just remember to put away from the main part of the house because the scent will be in the entire house.❤🎉😊

My generation calls it a respiratory hazard and a fire risk… saving money doesn’t ever mean setting your house on fire or causing an allergic reaction inside the lungs… use butter tubs as Tupperware to save money, but burning down your house or losing a lung seems counterintuitive.
You can actually but a bottle of fragrance oil or burning oil they sell it at Walmart Family Dollar and I’m sure other places. I’ve even seen it at Dollar Tree before
What do you add in yours? I use essential oils (with ultrasonic diffuser) and have often wondered how that would work using them in these. If you do use EO's how many drops do you recommend adding? EO's are no where near as strong as the toxic fragrance oils so I would imagine you would need to add quite a bit.
@@homoerotic85 I put about 10 drops in my diffuser with a half cup of water. I bet it wouldn't take much but you could try out some drops and then add more to your liking. Hope this helps.
Chef I actually buy my favorite plug ins & use a eye dropper & extract the oil & dab a bit on all the light bulbs through out my home! JUST A TINY DROP. I also drop some in my oil burners or in a my tiny (milk warmer pot) with a cup of water atop the stove that I use ONLY for fragrance in my home. You can also melt down the wax at the end of your used candles in your home & add a few drops of your favorite oil & create new fragrances ♥️
You clearly never been in a science class. We all know that oil on lightbulb will burn and cause lots of smoke. Wake up house smoky as hell. That's why I use a paper towel or a cloth towel to screw in lightbulbs bcz my body oils on my fingers can transfer to the bulbs which will burn once the bulb heats up. And we all should know that hot glass shatters.

Me too! I live in an industrial warehouse loft with high ceilings. I put mine in the middle where there is a high beam. You can even smell it upstairs. I buy a natural essential oil from the traders market and it’s amazing. This hack saves lives lol.
When I get a candle and don't like the scent the way I thought I would before burning it. I pop one of those in pour it in and I have a whole new/different scented candle. Thats my lil hack ❤ thanks for sharing yours!
I've tried this before, my advice would be to just make sure your using the right type of oils and you will be fine....Big Dawg never gave yall what type of oil. So use the lamp oil type for fragance lamps and you'll be fine. Your house will be fine....Never ever read an article that said house burns down because of scented plugin. @@treasureman1198 the wick plugs-ins? Anywhere to be honest. Walmart is your best bet. Lamp oil? Same place. Or can order from amazon. Essential oils? Thats where it can get tricky. Online would probably be the best bet...and a reputuable site at that. Walmart sells them too now, and they sell the NOW brand. Havent really heard anything bad about them. If this is your first time gettin into essential oils, please be careful with them. Highly, and i mean HIGHLY CONCENTRATED OILS that can and will cause some type of irritation on some peoples skin. While some are skin friendly right out the bottle (lavender oil, which is said to be even baby skin friendly). Others? Not so much (cinnamon oil). But treat them all as is they are not. And read up any info you can find on the oils you want. I would start with the oils walmart sells so you can get an idea of the smells ( because trust me, some are deceiving). If you already know all of this, then my bad for the rambling lol.

Brother, I've been doing this with oils I buy from my jamaican friend who sell oils and incense. Do the same with the wax burners too, when the scent is gone, let it cool a little bit and pour back in the container it came in and add some of your oil in it and place in freezer.
Research there is more to it I just don't want you to try first time and be disappointed and give up.But when you get the right recipe for you you will be glad you researched watery cleaning fluids to a bottle that held oil will fail unless you soak wick in hot water wash it out even if you are putting more oil in the wick can harden dry up over night. Or go buy new wicks .
I don’t know about that, but this Party remix is all kinds of 🔥 🔥🔥🔥!!! Just like y’all houses gonna be if you go putting all kinds of random fragrances in those warmers. Only use oil. And not just any oils at that. No alcohol whatsoever! Also, you can’t use all types of essential oils. Do research first. Some essential oils are harmful (sometimes deadly) to pets and babies, asthmatics, etc., and aren’t meant to be inhaled. These hacks are cool, but we all know someone will try them and put their own spin on them without doing proper research.

Doesn't matter you still gotta pay for something AND people don't know not to use certain fragrances or oils . You'll be paying for a new house if you're not careful. I've been knew about this but at the end of day you're not saving anything . And I didn't wanna chance putting the wrong type in the unit. Sometimes it's just best to do the right way.
Yes put some fabric softener in a pot of boiling water on low heat and I promise that smell fills the whole house or in my case apartment. Even the Downy beads in boiling water does the same thing.
@@nicolerobinson835 nah this is a old school trick I been doing it for years my granny used to do it with cinnamon and that smells good too. The fabric softener in the boiling water is no more stronger of a smell then when the fabric softener aroma hits the air when you're washing clothes it's the same thing you put it on a very low heat so it's like a vaporizer . Hahaha 😄 I noticed that too, but I've seen a few of his videos now, and he seems really strong, cos he often just does something with immense ease, which others (cough cough myself) would struggle with.
Once you open one and are able to save the top, it should get easier from there! Once plastic breaks loose it ends up getting easier till it eventually won't hold a seal
Thanks for the video. If one does decide to do this, please please be careful...not all fragrances are meant to be near outlets and um close the lid thoroughly. You can accomplish the same um air freshness by using a glass bottle or vase etc and wood dowel or even old flowers(no water) with your desired fragrance, but again...keep away from flammable sources....stove, sockets light switches etc. Stay safe all💫

Don't use fragrances like perfume or colognes which contain alcohol thats dangerous. I think from reading the comment thread ppl say use essential oils or lamp oils.
I may be wrong but Glade company (the original sellers of these smelly units) never UL listed them, meaning they weren’t safety checked. So if a fire erupted from one of these units, the homeowners insurance company would refuse or deny the claim. Sad but true. This was many many years ago though. I’m sure things have changed since. Been doing this for a while. I purchase house oils and just replace the oils for the Wick or Glade oils. Works just as good or better than what you pay 10x the price for at the grocery stores.
Iadanders30. Can you please tell us. Is house oil the ones in the dollar store that you burn inside an oil burner. Is that the house oil that you buy. I would love to know . I have some now. But never thought about using in a plug in.
Goal Mind When I said house oils I meant oils that can be burned. Think in mind of essential oils mixed with non flammable perfume oils. Where do I buy them ? Several places, Amazon, African based stores, also I have a lady that sells roll on perfume oils that also sells the oils. We repurchase every three months. I live in Houston, Texas if you live close I can share more information. I hope this helps!
Thanks brother. About 4 days ago I bought the Fabreze plug in and plugged it in. The next day I said to my wife if she noticed it. She didn't. Neither did I. Well, like an idiot I didn't realize I needed the oil cartridge to attach to it. Unbelievable. So gotta go grab the oil cartridge now. I guess they sell them separately. Didn't know that. We used to use them. Then I woke up to go pee one night and smelled something weird. Sniffed around and found one of them all warped and starting to blacken. Threw all of them out that night. Not worth the risk.
Yeah I was going to say if that is a cologne that could spark a fire. Those other fragrances are oil based. This is insanely dangerous to plug into an electrical outlet
That’s a good point. Btw, all oils are flammable but not all oils have the same flash point therefore not all oils can be used near electrical outlets. Also, oil isn’t the only carrier of fragrance. There are various solvents such as oils, alcohols, water, hydrocarbons. And some solid materials can act as a carrier. So be careful and make sure that whatever you use is NOT flammable under the circumstances that you’re using it.
Exactly what I do!!! I absolutely love the super fresh scent from snuggle. So I get the scent beads and dilute them in warm water. Very little water. Then I put a super fresh bottle of oil from Walmart in with it and refill and it's absolutely amazing!!!
I had the worst allergic reaction I’ve ever had in my life to one of those things! My stomach got nauseous, I started sweating and I didn’t feel good until about a half hour till I was in the clean air for a half hour!
