Two different concepts going on here. Casting is more about staying closed and keeping the bat parallel to the shoulder on the swing through the zone.. Hitting the inside of the ball is more about the swing plane. The taller the player the steeper the swing plane that is required to do this especially on breaking pitches. . Trout finishes his swing at about 75 degrees, Altuve is around 45 degrees as he is shorter. They both obtain similar results.

This is a really bad video. First of all, casting is a result of letting the back elbow move away from the body prematurely in a swing. So your definition is off right from the start. Secondly, You demo the "bad" swing by standing so far forward that your front foot is out of the box. Then on your "good" swing you position yourself deeper in the box. This is the main reason why your results are different. You should probably take this video down and re-do it before you get too many views.

Youre an idiot. Sorry, a baseball idiot. If you have even a 6th grade physics education you would know that regardless of where the elbows are or where the bat is it will "ALWAYS" seek 90° to its axis in rotation.

@@apotheosisbetz You must not understand what casting is. Let me help you out. Just after the stride, when the heel of the front foot drops and the swing begins then the back elbow will drop and tuck closer to the body. Allowing this elbow to untuck prematurely is what causes a cast and usually a roll over ground ball to the shortstop. BTW, I am a doctor and have a good grasp of physics. In fact I have a chapter in my upcoming book about the physics of baseball. Hope this helps.

A Doctor you saaaay hahahahaha, not a physicist? Well i do know you are good at one thing: memorization. You have a whole chapter that is wrong? Man guess your publisher just thinks Drs. know something. Would love to think why tucking your elbow, kyphosis, and scoliosis leads to full range of motion out of the thoracic vertebraes? @@apotheosisbetz So you are laughing because Im a doctor??? You obviously don't have much of an education. Otherwise, you wouldn't feel the need to attack those of us that do. I took many physics courses at UCLA and always was at the top of my class. This required more than memorization. But I'm sure my memory is better than yours anyway or you wouldn't feel so insecure about that. I sincerely tried to help you and you respond with mockery and insults. You are not much of a human being in my book. So, I'm done with you. Stay stuck in your ignorance. You will enjoy it there. I will enjoy not reading your response.
