I agree what you said about religion. Tuomas is an atheist or agnostic criticizing organized religion. He had a (liberal) Christian upbringing, his grandpa was a priest, and there were many priests in the family before him, but Tuomas has said he has never felt religion as a prison. So obviously he thinks it is a prison for many people. Tuomas grandpa had 7 daughters but not one son. That was the end of a long line of priests in the family. In an interview in 2007 the interviewer said to Tuomas that Nightwish is a religion. When eber you release a new song your followers read the lyrics like they were a holy scripture. Tuomas: "I like the way you put it! May I quote you on that? My grandpa is smiling in his grave!" "Weak Fantasy" is a song written by Tuomas and Marko together, both composition and lyrics. It's critical of forcing religious beliefs on others, including children. Troy and Tuomas promoted science over religion in a video they made. I have reason to believe that Tuomas wife, Johanna Kurkela, a popular singer herself, has some kind on religious conviction, based on an inteview of hers. Floor is interested in science too. Some newfound insects have been named after Nightwish, Tuomas and Floor. I think there is a mistake in the english lyrics. It sould say "sing my SON" and not "sing my song". Based on the Finnish lyrics and I can also hear him sing SON. Marko was blurred on the video because he was singing in Finnish. You should listen to the original "Isäni ääni". Many foreigners say it is better than this English version. I agree. I think the song honours Marko's father, despite his shortcomings. He had problems with alcohol. Marko used to drink too, but decided to stop a long time ago. Marko's father sang to Marko, Marko sang to his sons, and hopes his sons will sing to their children one day. But like you said it is not only about Marko's family, but about and to all fathers and fathers to be. Marko has a band called "All Hietala Power Trio" with his guitarist brother Zachary (officially Sakari) and Marko's son Miro 18 on drums. They played live stream two nights in a row this summer, 30 minute set of Black Sabbath. War Pigs is one of Marko's favorites, he is very much against war. During that live stream chat some foreigner asked what bands Marko has played in and someone answered: "What bands has he not played in?" There is another song called "Stones" on this solo album of Marko's. It's heavier than this one.

That was very interesting, thanks for that! I'm Dutch and I don't understand a word of Finnish (apart from kittos), but I prefer the Finnish version of Marko's album (I have both the English and the Finnish version) for the same reason that I prefer the Dutch version of Floor's song for Warchild. I think it feels better in their native language.

Tuomas defined himself as an agnostic atheist a couple of years ago. However, back in... 2008 (?), he said that he's a Christian who doesn't know if God exists. An agnostic Christian, I suppose. While condemning the horrors that organised religion all-too-often has caused, he also felt that this is due to the dark aspects of human nature rather than specifically the fault of religion.

Don't mind me, I'll be here with my box of tissues... I love this song. The literal idea of voice as something that continues - something that passes on from father to son, or generation to generation at large, is just incredibly powerful and comforting at the same time. I know my voice sounds like my mother's, and once she's gone, this part of her will survive through me. And wow, just the quality of Marko's voice in this one blows my mind. We all know the man can roar and growl but this gentle tone is really something else. Great reaction, I'm really glad it made you dig deep and share a little bit more with us. Thank you so much!

"The voice of my father, it's here in me" is clever lyrics because in most cases males indeed talk (and sing) with very similar voice to their father.

You're right about religion. I had a colleague once, I think it was the only time I've ever stopped to speak more than just the absolute necessary with anyone... But her ignorance drive me crazy. I asked her exactly that question... If you're a murderer or you sexually abuse a child you just say sorry and go to heaven if you're Catholic,.... But you can be a Saint, give everything for others, but being atheist, Muslim or whatever you go to hell, no matter what you do? ... And she said yes. I just can't wrap my head around that there are still puerile that ignorant out there, in the times where you have free access to information (also false information, of course)... I guess doctrination still works after all... And it has many shapes... Religion, fanatic sport fans, politics, capitalism, communism,... Its all about doctrine and brainwashing until people stop to believe anything else, even if it's founded in facts and with proof... It's sad actually. Anyway. Great reaction, as usual 👍🏻

I have to agree. Religion has given those of us that believe in a higher power a bad name. if you love tolerance, hope and caring about other people then you have to feel the same way about organized religion as any atheist would. They are run by small-minded men that prey on the beliefs of good people.
@dragonseye00

@@Duskwind_ Unfortunately, yes. That's why I often call the Catholic Church, Evangelists, etc religious sects. The best example is a testament of Thomas which has been found which cited something in the sense of "You don't need a temple or house to pray. Turn a stone, look around you, God is everywhere.".... Something like that. But the Catholic Church is not approving this as an official testament, despite it is proven that it is their Apostle...but of course, it would give people more reason not to go to church... And they need that, it's that feeling of belonging to a group that feeds the loyalty to the... Let's call it cult. I think everyone shall have the right to believe in what they want to believe, as long as this is not taking any negative influence on others. It's sad that many people are willing to believe blindly and are willing to ignore actual facts just to assure their image of the world or the universe won't be challenged.

@@dragonseye00 Well said, my friend. My studies deal with field theory and unity, and what I believe is that there is something binding the laws of nature together. Lets call it a universal energy intelligence. After all, it is impossible to prove that something does not exist, and the universe is very big...
@dragonseye00
@dragonseye00 4 года назад
@@Duskwind_ That is well true. I saw a video of Carl Sagan, explaining the 4th dimension... I think he explained things so almost everyone can understand it... Also he said "The universe is pretty big. If its just us, seems like an awful waste of space". We know so little, even about it own planet... You're right you can't prove with certainty that something does not exist. You only can prove what exists, and if there is no proof it doesn't mean something doesn't exist,... maybe we just didn't get there yet.

OH this song... this one hit deep for me, it's not only the kind of music that my father loved (he died when I was 16 way back 20 years ago...) but it fit's him *perfect* lyrically, so I had to spill a couple of tears hearing it, and I normally don't react like this, yeah I might nearly tear up a song features some participial topic in a pathos filled way that I have deep onions on (mostly history), but this one landed a full broadside ;). It also resonates a bit with my opinions about death after having a full blown NDE with a couple of seconds on the edge and mybe on the other side: it's not *our* death we should fear and be troubled by, it's how it hits *others* around us that is the troubling matter so let's leave some sort of heritage for the rest, be it a big public impact one like Van Halen or a little personal one like most of us. Love how you reacted to it! Best regards Raoul G. Kunz

There are so many different religions that I decided to believe only in myself. So far that has been good for me I´m over 70 n I´ve had a good life. I don´t need any gods over my mind, or some one telling me how should I act. Religions have done so much evil, and continue to do so, it`s easy to control people with religion. Stay safe there.

"Fathers of history" is Marko's translation of the Finnish version where he has, "My father's voice, from the ancient fathers" which seems to speak of his ancestors; an unbroken "song" from them, to his father, to Marko and now to his son. As RI5TO said before me, the english onscreen lyrics here seem to have a small error in it as the video has, "Sing my SONG and I'll be with you" rather than, "Sing my SON..." as in the Finnish original. Even just listening to what Marko sings here it sounds like he says "son". "Song" does make a sort of sense in context but it still appears to be a typo.

marko sing good for all fathers. i lost my father last year and of course when getting older more and more people die. i never get any message anybody to the other side. i believe that death is the end to everything what is good,coz who truly want to live forever(boring). sadly that imagine figure person god and wide spread religion is doing also bad things in world. like my country if people truly are very sick and suffering and they want death but cannot do it by own hands,laws say cannot do and it´s always bible law that somebody cannot help other person ending misers. many country have laws that women cannot get abort,well coz bible say it´s a sin. well that´s enough that thing :) thanx to great reaction.
