I get your point that anything is possible until you pass the finish line. This includes losing so don't get over confident but don't lose hope either.

A beautiful track!

This reminds me of a go-kart race I once had: I was in 3rd but fast and smooth, compared to the fast but erratic leaders. My consistency is how I caught up to them. I caught the 2nd placer right as the white flag flew. I under-braked, passing both on the outside through the double left hander of 1 & 2 and taking the lead in Turn 3, the first right hander. Approaching right hand Turn 4 which leads to the left/right chicane and the back straightaway, an official gave me the “Move over” sign”. I obeyed and let the other two go by but got back on it. Only a few corners remained but I stayed calm. The leader stayed on the gas way too long and spun out in the right/left switchback Turns 5 & 6, putting me in second. Catching the new leader’s draft out of the switchback, I pulled to the right side, the final 180* right hander ahead, giving me the inside. I under-braked and made the pass, taking the lead into the final straightaway with the checkered flag beginning to wave. Best of all, the woman who finished second walked up to me afterwards and shook my hand.

I was in a race last Sunday, and get attacked in the whole race. I always wanted to be polite in every session, but after being taken by one racer, I realized it is the race. So I tried my best to defend, brake earlier to disturb the brake point of the kart behind, and took the inner line of each corner at the same time. I was almost been taken literally last second before the finish line, however, I still had an advantage of half a kart.
