As someone who's not very big on Gojira, even I will openly admit that this band is something special. Like.. "generational" levels of special. So much so that I'm actually a little disappointed in myself for not enjoying them more than I do. But the songs from them that I do like.. I don't just enjoy them.. I absolutely LOVE them. Silvera is my personal favorite track.
Oh man so glad you got around to Gojira and you enjoyed it! Favorite song is always a difficult question... The Heaviest Matter of the Universe stands up to its title though ;)
Yeah dude. I got into Gojira recently ... and I never liked this style of metal... but these guys are special. You headbanging represented us all. Thanks
Nice :) Give a shot to "The gift of guilt, live at brixton academy", or even better, try a back to back, the album version, and then the live version. They're just... Damn. "Born in winter" is another one that's not been much reacted to, it's a bit different from what they're used to do, nonetheless amazing. There's so much more, "The art of dying", "flying whales", "oroborus" back to back material, "esoteric surgery" which they do not play live, mainly because of the drums... Please, PLEASE, do more!
Gojira is something else, i’d love to see more of them on this channel because they are unique. They actually started out as Godzilla in 1996, but changed their name to Gojira later on in 2001. Gojira to me is a liveband, their live performances are so good it’s incredible. They’ve gotten a little mellower later on, early Gojira was as death metal as it gets. I’d love to see a reaction to Remembrance at The Link Alive concert, the passion, the energy, the precision… it’s great. And there’s plenty more tracks that are just as good with this band. Cool reaction, keep them coming from Gojira. Subbed!
@@Killermcknight not exactly, let’s say it will be good, but like all bands, some specific venues or live recording are better than the other, is it the band’s performance or prime, or just the recording itself. Also like all bands, they have songs that are just okay and even not great. But it’s baffling how much of their catalogue is so good and consistent. Gojira prime (live) was between 2008-2014 i’d say. And so to answer your question, i highly recommend choosing the live versions recommended, because the performance is probably incredible. In this case my recommendation is from 2003, from The Link Alive. Anything from that concert is pure gold. Other one i’d recommend to get some older Gojira in the ears is Clone, live at Garorock. So much to recommend though.. cheers
Awesome react brother….I am just like you and many others I suppose….when a Gojira track comes on… the head banging is just an automatic reflex action… and not that soft version of it…the full on jackhammer version of it….
Great first scratch on the surface. Often overseen track is 'In the Wilderness', a straight to the point super heavy but also intriguing wall of sound. Probably their most fundamental song. Not for the faint hearted though. Good reaction.
best metal band playing today, check out Backbone or The Heaviest Matter of the universe live at red rocks, it will blow you away, joe's voice is the only one that i ever heard that can trasmit emotions like sadness while screaming
Nah. They're damned good, but they're not the best band playing today. Jinjer, Slaughter To Prevail, Meshuggah....way better. Studio and live. I love Gojira, but they're not the best band playing today. I'd step over 10 Gojira shows to get to one Jinjer or Meshuggah show
The last time you said it, it was the closest :) Le enfant (in french it's apostrophized due to the vowel) l'enfant translates into the child. So savage child. Great start, it's one of their best songs and actually most know by their fans, but all their songs are "their best". I think you probably have the entire list to listen to already, my personal favorite is "The gift of guilt". Also, listen to them playing live, their shows are amazing and they have such high energy. Finally, they advocate a lot on the global warming, planet devastation by humans basically and other great causes. They are heavily involved in humanitarian causes, so it's not just about the music, it's also about the message with them. "Flying whales" is also a great track and topic.
That's awesome Pedro thanks for sharing that with me. I think it's really cool when a band has a meaning and purpose other then sounding cool or conveying personal stories so good on them!
@@Killermcknight - I don't usually recomment Google Translate to anyone but in cases like these, where you don't know how to pronounce something in a foreign language, their listening feature really helps. 🙂
You really can't go wrong, no matter what Gojira or Orbit Culture song you choose to react to, they are all gold and we will be here for them all! Hellz yeah!
Nice, happy to see anyone get into the ol' Gojira! Glad you enjoyed. Check out Toxic Garbage Island! Just got my tickets to see them and Mastodon in August, can't wait.
Last year in August, I was for the first time on a plane. When I needed to take the plane back home (so technically second plane), I put many songs in a queue on spotify. Right when we were going upwards, almost in the clouds, this song came on. And right when we were in the clouds, this part came: the sky is all, over me. I was in awe haha. So cool. It's too difficult to choose a favourite song by them but I recommend: the way of all flesh live 2009. You'll find it on yt
If you want to dig deep into the band with less frequented reaction songs I'd suggest: In the Wilderness Pray (live extended from Red Rocks, not the studio) Backbone Space Time (super early song)
If you ever get the chance to see these guys live, do it, no questions. They are by far the best live band I've ever seen. Have I seen better *shows* meaning the whole show, special effects included and everything? Yes. Have I ever seen a better live band? Absolutely not. For a song recommendation...damn it's so difficult. I'll toss out a song off each of my favorite albums instead, I think, lol Clone Embrace the World All the Tears Where Dragons Dwell
My favourite is "Pray"- live at Red Rocks. I have preference for their older stuff from the Link Alive and Way of All Flesh albums. But Mars to Sirius is a masterpiece in its own right, to the point that it is a victim of its own success. Just their last album Fortitude,,,,,hmmm,,so-so.
First let me start by saying something that no one so far has said: they're french. 2:40 - One of Joe Duplantier's unique vocal characteristics is that he can scream in pitch.
Gojira got a lot of song, that subjects nature, and the crises of it.. they got some heavy slaying songs in the catalouge, that i really love, and a half of songs i dont, but they are also a killer live band..
Ok. You just got your start. Ouroboros live at Eurockeennes 2009 is their live energy at its best. You won’t be disappointed. Lyrics are CRUCIAL to a deeper dive into Gojira. My take on the video is that we’ve been consumed by concrete and steel and oil and smog, and lost our vitality. The woman in the video finds her own ‘wild child’ within herself and walks step for step with the wolf at the end.
Interesting perspective on the video I couldn't even conceive that at the time but I can definitely see it. Thanks for the song recommendations I will definitely check out from this band. I really enjoyed them and their music is the type I listened to on a personal level before I started making reactions
L'enfant sauvage means "'Wild child", as in a teen that's going through terms with his young self and has to find a way into society, a rebelious troublemaker going through that passage of life. That's why I think he's saying lines along the "I ran away from institutions,I owe myself life" as if it was talkig about schools. Then later on it goes into "Agony, Denial, Lies, forgot to create your own life". I might also be completely wrong :P
@@Lamren I think you’re completely right! It’s the great thing about art in any form.. you see what you want to see in it, and I do too. We bring our own experiences and perspective to it.
That was probably one of the best songs to start with. Good choice. You'll love this one as well: Gojira - Born For One Thing ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3p85-KtgDSs.html
This is probably the heaviest Gojira period. lol Terra Incognita is earlier Gojira and is heavier than this is. Magma is not as heavy and more groovy. Same with Fortitude. Songs are still heavy but not like their first albums. Huge catalogue to immerse yourself in.
Best metal band to come out in the last 20 years imo. Every damn song fucking rocks 🤘🤘 Check out Flying Whales, The Heaviest Matter of the Universe,....seriously, just...pick one lol. I'm not even kidding when I say like every. Single. Song fucking KICKS.
