Absolutely! My almost straight long hair can't and won't hold a curl even if my life depended on it! Hair like this can be worn in so many ways, and while I wouldn't have the patience to style it every single day, I am so envious of it!! Love the "black hair is archetectural" line! You should make that an inspo quote on insta/Pinterest/tiktok, heck, you should make it an inspo post EVERYWHERE!!!!❤❤❤
I just don’t understand, Why are you doing your hair is racist? Don’t care what your hair type is. Hair does untamed and not styled is just sloppy. If you’re going to a function, you should style your hair. I don’t know anyone have any recent doesn’t do anything to the Hair for an event. Is it blk people make everything about race? Why is doing your hair a bad thing?
We've ALL been there .... and when we are brave enough to be our authentic self... the reaction we get sets us back .... Time for change. Thank you so much for this
@@WaddlesTravelsTheWorldUnfortunately, The Crown act, has not been activated in all of the United States.. more work needs to be done! And considering it only went into effect in 2019.. 😂😂
I never realized the pressure that African-American women felt about their hair until a few years ago. Ever since then I have had a greater appreciation for natural hair and I love seeing videos like this!!! Everyone needs to love themselves and support other women. Your hair is stunning!
Neither do I. Probably because I see beauty beyond any stupid stereotypes and prejudice created by purpose to divide people. Im always surprised, anytime I hear something like the comment given at work about the hair. The hair, skin, weight, or any other thing that makes us US should be er be pointed out in negative way and it tells more about the commenter than somebody that receives this. The best way for all of us, as we all get it sometimes is to say or just think facing it to the “sender” “Thank you but I dont receive it, take it with you”
I don’t understand why people cap on Bkack women because I think they’re some of THE MOST beautiful women on the planet. My brother married a Black woman, and I’m in love with a Black woman myself. I don’t care if she’s bald, has braids, wigs, weaves or whatever. She is just beautiful!
People pay big money to try to have hair as gorgeous as yours! I loved the way you had it styled before you did the updo. But honey. After you did that updo. Absolutely. Stunning!!
100%. I’m 41 and never got around to loving myself and accepting who I am. I’m on that journey now and it’s so liberating!!!! At some point I tried please everyone around me. I hid myself and my true thoughts and feelings because I didn’t want to offend anyone. Then I realized I was just hiding from myself. No more! I’m taking the power back.
YES!!! The process of getting to know your natural hair takes time, especially if you've spent decades internalizing messages that tell you your hair is difficult. So happy to hear you've gotten to know your natural hair and feel more comfortable in it.
Yes, our hair is amazing and beautiful ❤ My hope and prayer is that we forgo trying to make those who do not have African hair feel “comfortable “ around us by making our hair more like theirs with wigs, chemicals ( that give us cancer and burns), hot comb pressing, etc., and wear our hair natural: twists, braids, Afros, knots, etc. After all, we except their hair…. We need to learn and love our beautiful, and amazingly unique hair! Our hair enhances our beauty! Ashay🙋🏽♀️🥰🌺💕🤷🏽♀️👏🏽
I've been chemical-free since 2006. I'm so thankful for that bad relaxer experience because it started my natural hair journey. It's called a journey because you discover yourself when you deprogram. Self-acceptance is a beautiful thing.
It can’t happen fast enough. I’m tired of seeing wigs and weave. The little girls are wearing weave now. Allowing that crap to eat their edges up. Just give yourself a little more time for your hair and your child’s hair and bring back natural hair again.
but the dark indians still get heat for a colour hue they can't change.. it's the evil people that should change because imagine if we hated them for lack of melanin or having dead hair.. seriously
Beautiful!!! Thank you for representing. I’ve been loving rocking my natural hair for years now . God didn’t make any mistakes . Our natural hair is beautiful. ❤️😊
As a completely straight hair person, I've always been fascinated with curly hair! I think curls are gorgeous and so glad you're embracing yours. Absolutely beautiful!
I won’t lie it AMAZES me the magic that I see black people do on their natural hair. At the beginning it’s honestly still pretty, but with some TLC and product it transforms by the end and looks stunning! You rock that natural hair, your curls are beautiful ♥️
Oh my goodness. Your hair is gorgeous! Watching your smile as you are styling it says it all. Please don't let anyone tell you what to do with YOUR hair. GORGEOUS!
I know! I would not go to the trouble of a wig when I had this. My hair is so thin I just bought what is called a 'topper' and man what a pain it is to wear.
i love the technique of wrapping the front, parted pieces around to the back and hiding them inside the ponytail!! so happy for you, and thank you for the style inspiration!
As a girl with coily hair I have to confess that I was jealous of straight hair. It looked so soft, I was wondering how it feels to just wake up the morning and comb your hair easily. But I learned how to manage my 4c hair and to love it. But I just wanted to tell you that straight hair is also gorgeous. We just have to accept our specificities and embrace our differences ❤
AMEN! 🖐️ SO jealous of hair that doesn't just fall all stringy looking & just takes the shape of my head 😮💨 Forget styling, it's so fine that looking at it causes it to break 🥺 No coloring, no bleach, no perm, no heat NOTHING 😳 unless I want to b bald 🤬 I even tried doing braids so I could let it out n the morning for waves, SO much breakage 😮💨
I remember when growing up ads on TV starting to diversify, and it was wonderful to watch... I'd be transfixed by all the lovely skin colors and hair-texture variations of black women in the 60s -70s, and still remember the adverts from Dark and Lovely as well as the posters/songs proclaiming "BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL, BABY!" Watching you today took me back to those days and reminded me why that saying is true... 💯💖🥰
I grew up in those years, too, and I remember the revolution very fondly. My best friend in college wore her hair in a close natural and it looked so effortlessly elegant.
@@williamsstephens YAAASSSS!😁 Exciting times bubbling with all kinds of possibilities and potential (even despite the hardships and "growing pains") Absolutely breaks my heart every day to see where we're at now 🥺
More gorgeous natural hair please!! It is a blessing and fucking beautiful. I love it iust down and free like you start off in the video, its gorgeous. Glad you're embracing and loving your natural hair girlie ❤️
Thank you!!! I was once sat down prevented from singing in the Church choir because I wore my natural hair !!! My Afro and was rebuked for being hard headed and disobedient!!! I felt I was being disrespectful to God because that’s the hair he gave me!!! Needless to say I never sang in the church choir again😢 and the sad part about that was; I loved singing in the choir and when I tried to get back they told me that they would see how I behave and let me know if they felt I was cooperating 😒!!! I am proud of you! You and your hair are beautiful!!! Proud of you! And yes sweetheart this was indeed a BLACK CHURCH!!! God has been good and I still wear my hair in it’s God given natural state! Because I Love it!!!❤❤❤❤❤!!! I forgave that Pastor , the lady who went above and beyond to get me noticed for my rebellion 😂😂😂 so you see I am blessed keep up the good work!
I don’t want to sound as if I’m judging the two people. However God created us natural for his purpose and I’m guessing that it depends on the people that you went to Church with. I’m black been going to a black Church for many years, I’ve went from Afro to Relaxers to Curly Hair and now I’m back to my Natural Hair and been for some years now. My Pastor, First Lady or anyone in the Church has ever spoken to me about or concerning my hair. God created us natural for his reasons ❤
Please tell me you’re going to another church now, where you are accepted for who you are and not what you look like. The people of this church you speak of need to be on their knees asking for forgiveness for turning you away from singing and praising our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope you know that your hair doesn’t define you, only what’s inside of your heart. Sending you love ❤️
Your hair is absolutely beautiful. I would never wear a wig if I had hair like that!! I'm white and my hair is so thin I must wear a wig. You are blessed!!!!! Flaunt that hair gorgeous!!!
Thank God, I'm African. The sort of mental hair Gymnastics some Black American women display. You wore wigs then get offended when people ask u you get a different hair style. Aka Your natural hair. Your hair is curly pretty black girl hair.
The comment she relays from her boss doesn't make it clear if it was criticism or curiosity. Wear a wig with straight hair, then suddenly come in with natural curls... It is noticeable. Commenting doesn't automatically mean criticism. News flash... Caucasian women who suddenly have a significant change in hairstyle get the SAME question. Anyone changing their appearance will get questions or comments.
Yep, turning up with say a pixie cut when you have only had really long hair or turning from brown to bleach blonde would get a response from many people of what happened to your hair, why did you do that! No matter what your ethnicity is.
@@dagneytaggart7707 Not true! When I see a change in a caucasian's hair change, I either compliment vocally or keep pushing. It's her choice not mine. Same for any woman. Sis I love your hair. Now you know your Boss shouldnt be supervising others outside of his race😮
Congrats!! I remember the first time I wore my hair naturally curly to a black tie wedding and I was the dj! I was so nervous and guess what, absolutely no one gave a crap! This was back in like 2010 too. The pressure to conform was definitely real but sometimes we get in our own way. 2020 introduced me to faux locs and now I’m growing my own. This journey is the best, I’m loving it!!😊
Dear your natural hair is healthy and beautiful don't ever hesitate to wear your hair that style is gorgeous.😊 I have crochet braids in have been wearing them for a while even wigs but I'm about ready to start wearing my hair to show off my crown . You boss has no clue of black women's hair lol.
I am a 62 year old Caucasian woman . When I was younger , all my African American friends wore their hair either with a perm or natural . NOBODY wore wigs . I've been watching the abundance of wigs being worn over the last 25 years & it makes me sad that this has become the " norm " . When I was in junior h.s. both girls and boys rocked huge afros with PRIDE . As a retired hairstylist myself , I am fully aware of the damage that excessive wig wearing can do . Your hair looks BEAUTIFUL with your spirals draping dramatically around your face .
I've recently talked about this myself and friends were shocked. When I'd wear my natural curls to my office job, I'd get "oh...you didn't have time to fix your hair today?" All the damage I did to my hair with flatirons over the years just to be accepted is so sad. Now, rocking the curls even for formal events which was a huge deal. Keep loving your crown!
Your curls are gorgeous! I'm embarrassed to say that it wasnt until I saw RU-vid videos, like this, I'd never realized the way some people treat black women about their hair. I've always loved the way black hair looks, and just assumed that black women had the same experience/privilege I did of wearing my hair however I want. I hope we as a society will stop dictating what they think is acceptable for black women. How you wear your hair is nobody's business but yours.😊🤗🥰
Unfortunately, much of it comes from other black women. I can't tell you how many times I heard black women call other black women "nappy-headed" to insult them when I was in the Army. A good friend wore her natural hair in an afro from the time I met her. One evening, I told her how pretty it was. She explained to me how much easier it was and how freeing it was to be able to get her hair wet in the rain or while swimming. It made me feel good for her that she was able to live more carefree and save hours of time to do other things she wanted to do. (I am totally hair lazy).
@@sashalynn5256 that reminds me of internalized misogyny. Just because that is what I have experience with. So I wonder what kind of put down bs this came from? Misery loves company I guess.. I was always put down by the mean girls, and the mean girl teachers.
@sashalynn5256 I disagree! As a natural BW, I've never had another BW walk up to me and put my hair down. I'm sure it can happen, but for most natural BW they say it's BM or WW who put their hair down. That's also been my experience, mainly BM putting my hair down. I usually hear BW motivating other BW.
Your hair looks beautiful and so do you. Don't let people shame you for choosing to be your authentic self. It always baffles me why people think we have to conform to what their idea of beauty is.
She's not letting ppl shame her... she's experiencing the shame of having natural hair already woven into the american culture of being Black and wearing your natural hair.
Your hair is beautiful and healthy. I honestly don’t have the capacity to deal with my natural hair. 4c is no joke- super duper thick - not curly - just crazy thick 😢- EXHAUSTING to manage. Kudos 🎉to you for rocking your hair!
People need to be able to rock whatever kind of hair they have without ANY kind of repercussion. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I'd love to have curly hair sigh LOL....
Your hair is gorgeous as is but the texturism is real. So instead of hiding your natural hair under weaves, wigs and silk presses, its hidden under gels, cremes, lotions and pomades.
@@lekaylaharbor6089 Your natural, texture is how your hair looks when it's washed and drys without product. Using gels, pomades, lotions and other products to get a curl that wouldn't happen otherwise isn't your natural curl pattern.
Beautiful!!! The struggle is real, Sis! I haven’t straightened my hair in four years and feel so much better about my own hair now. It takes a lot to overcome what society tells us about beauty but uou are amazing! Keep inspiring us!
I know that’s right! I wore my natural hair to school this one time (I always wear my natural hair) and a BLACK boy walks by me and whispers to his little Asian friend “she looks like a slave” he was an awkward and ugly guy so I didn’t take it to heart but it bothered me that he was a self hating little weasel though..
I feel like she is overthinking the whole “what happened to your hair” like isn’t it like a thing you say when like something changes and they have seen her with her straight hair and now it curly, wouldn’t people be like what happened (curious/Care)😂
@@abigailmedina3214 no she's not overthinking, people need to watch what they say and how they say it. "What happened to your hair" to me gives a negative connotation... So we said what we said
@@rudiiboiispook the way SHE said it not the person who said it. The person who said it originally could have said it in a curious way and she just took it in the wrong way thus overthinking it
okay i agree. even tho im white i agree with you. i love seeing black women or just women in general who have really tight curls wear that and rock it! curls are beautiful to me! i love them so much!
@@abigailmedina3214so do you have a hair type that has been hated over years , are you black , are you a black women ? What they said was disrespectful if you can’t understand that it was micro aggressive mind yours and move along God bless
You have such beautiful hair. I've got to admit when I was young I was jealous of people with curls like yours. Then one day I discovered that women actually get shamed for their natural curls. I'm so glad you decided to start loving your hair. You're beautiful and so are your curls.
I’m a 72 yo black woman and my head is as bald as a baby’s bottom! You look stunning with that hairstyle. I wish I could have some hair but my alopecia took over! But I love looking at beautiful hair being sculpted to your will! You’re beautiful!
I love the thickness of your hair. It took me some years to retrain my hair back to its natural curl pattern, but now I will never go back. I’m glad you are embracing your natural hair. So beautiful.
@@itssLaury hi Laury, I went natural after wearing a perm about 40 years. You have to give up putting heat on your hair. (Flat iron, press n curl, blow dryers). It is ok to sit under a hooded dryer. Deep condition your hair every time you wash. Protect your hair from rubbing against harsh fabric clothing. Keep your split ends clipped regularly, as needed. Hair will love you back!
I will never understand why people think it's their business to judge people's hair/looks. I personally have always loved black women hair; absolutely beautiful! ❤
You have very beautiful hair. I’m in the process of going natural. I’m 8 months in after the big chop. Decades of hair color and relaxers. Enough!!! I’ve already had 6” of growth and I’m loving it. Retired now so I have all the time that I need to I reach my nirvana. 💇🏽♀️🌌
@@Opa773 a protective style is a style that protects the hair and helps it grow like a style that protects the hair and helps it flourish/grow and that’s what braids do and with wigs we braid down our hair and when done the right way it will help our hair grow and stuff lol I’m not that good at explaining so I hope this helps feel free to ask any more questions if this was confusing 😶
Absolutely love ths style on black women. Yalls hair is so same beautiful! I'm always so shocked people discriminate because of it because it's NATURAL AND BEAUTIFUL!
