Loved your review on this! Fun fact: Soyeon the rapper of the group produced (co-produced) and wrote almost all of their songs that they currently have. I think she’s an absolute genius who, as you can hear, is not afraid to try and step out of the box and do new stuff. Even the last music video of Oh My God is so not kpop, it’s more like an art video which I absolutely loved. As you can see i’m smitten by them haha
Greatt review. So cool you caught Soyeons rap in senorita being intentionally off beat or out of pocket rap. I wonder how you feel that the rapper wrote and co produced all those songs?
That's the problem with most of people that are biased. They think k-pop is some cute Asian girls/boys singing cute songs. There are many of those, but there are also many gems. (G)I-dle happens to be one of the most talented groups in k-pop, they produce their music themselves (mainly Soyeon, the rapper and leader of the group), write lyrics and even take part in choreographies. They are self-made. I was also sceptical, but then i've heard a few songs and i became a fan, this music is unique. I advise you to dig deeper. Check BTS for example, listen and watch "ON Kinetic Manifesto" and if you're into rap, "Agust D - Agust D", this is a solo song of one of the rappers of this group and he's probably the best rapper in k-pop. You will be very surprised. Don't forget to turn on the subtitles. Thank me later :D
That's what I thought before getting into it, alot of people think that kpop is just pop or just bts and blackpink but there are so many other unique groups and genres that are so underated
I've been hating kpop because the fans and because I had some kind of misconception about the music, just like tetrikz said. Even tho I'm still not a fan of the industry, since the moment I heard (G)I-dle, almost 2 years ago now, I'm in love with these girls and the ridiculous amount of talent they have. All their title tracks are awesome, yes, but also almost every b-side is as awesome (or even more, like Maybe) than their main songs, and they're self-produced, which makes them even better for me.
Thank you for doing this. I wish you would have seen Hann since it's my favorite from them, but it was really nice watching someone appreciate Señorita. Loved your comments and insights!
If I had a kpop group to recommend, it would be Dreamcatcher they have a really good and unique style of music they are by far my favorite kpop group. They have such great different songs and amazing vocals and I really think you should react to them. I also think that you should look at mamamoo as well they also have a very unique sound.
Jeon Soyeon, (G)I-DLE’s leader and main rapper, co-composed, wrote, and co-arranged all their songs. 👑 Might as well turn on the English subtitles so that you can read and comprehend every damn deep and meaningful lyrics which all came out of Soyeon’s genius mind. Each song has its own extraordinary story and concept. 🙌🏻 Oh by the way, I commend you for noticing Soyeon’s out-of-pocket rap in Senorita! Only intellectuals can truly appreciate that. Soyeon is so experimental with flow in her rap verses. 😎
If you want more of the girls being awesome and especially more of the rapper, Soyeon, then you should look up KDA from League of Legends because Soyeon voices Akali and helps make a ton of the music for the concept group. She is also in True Damage (another concept band from LOL) video “Giants.” The stuff coming from League is just insanely good lately so I’d love to see your take on it!
Follow up reaction? If you think Oh My God blowed up wait till u see the numbers their releases from 2022 onwards did. It's crazy. They are so good and self-produced since debut! All songs are written, composed AND produced by the members which is rare especially for women in kpop. They really had to fight for the creative freedom and I'm so happy they did and succeeded. I only started looking into kpop last year after spending my entire teenage years saying that I would never listen to it and man was I wrong. Now I'm obsessed with (G)I-DLE (and Blackpink). I'm sure you would be blown away by (G)I-DLE's new songs/music videos. Here are recommendations: Tomboy, Nxde, Allergy, Queencard, I Want That, I Do, Super Lady, Revenge, Klaxon. They also have great songs from before 2022 though like Hann (Alone), Dumdi Dumdi, Uh-Oh, Hwaa. And I'm only naming tracks with official music videos, their b-sides are just as good. Please consider looking into them more. If you do, all their music videos have official English subtitles. You just need to put them on by clicking on cc or turn them on in the settings
I got this from reddit but this is the theory; Minnie and Soyeon are fallen angels. Different is, Soyeon literally dancing her way to commit sin, so she went out of heaven on her own will. While Minnie was kicked out because she was caught of sinning. Yuqi : is a human. During her first part, look at her worried face, and then you can see a glimpse of Soojin and Yuqi fell after that. This probably means that Yuqi who supposedly looking pure outside was also tested by temptation. She looked upward and there's Miyeon, Yuqi's face showed guilt and Miyeon dropped her wine goblet. (Wine was also used as a symbol of blessing and judgement throughout the Bible. Drinking a cup of strong wine to the dregs and getting drunk are sometimes presented as a symbol of God's judgement and wrath, and Jesus alludes this cup of wrath, which he several times says he himself will drink) Miyeon is a forgotten Goddess in this whole plot. "Forgotten" because while she was on her throne, she's looking sadly at her people who didn't worship her as much (because the dancers were not looking at her and they were all in the dark) Refer to Shuhua's set as comparison as her followers on their knees facing her. Shuhua is not a goddess but a heavenly being, probably archangel. She doesnt pass judgement like Miyeon did but she is worshipped more than Miyeon. Soojin is the devil. Soyeon referred Soojin on her rap as "The Piper". Based on folk story, the piper did free the town of its rats, but the town council cheated him of his pay. Bent on revenge, therefore, the pied piper then lured all of the children away. There's a glimpse of Soojin in shackled. I believe, Miyeon restrained her. So when Soojin was free, she was hellbent to take as many of Miyeon's people with her as a revenge. Take note that Soojin's expression was void of joy, but a little bit of sorrow. But her expression changed at her second verse of "Oh My God" where she looked more confident in her decision to take all Miyeon's people to her side. That was why she whispered to Shuhua and tried to lure her, but instead of Shuhua, Soyeon was the one who came. By this time, there's a scene where Minnie shot herself. And by that means, Minnie lost the battle with her desire and went straight to hell. Yuqi lost her way, no longer worshipping Miyeon as she's now fully on Soojin's team. She's still on earth because she's not dead yet.
hi!! not sure if you’ll see this but i heavily recommended listening to “the rose”! they’re a kband and their songs are so nice to listen to. they’re also struggling against the company to win a lawsuit on not getting paid. it would be great if you could do a reaction video and draw attention to the issue! thank you 💕
First, Reaction 101, turn on the Eng Sub next time when reacting to kpop. Secondly, I strongly advise you not to continue reacting to Kpop, otherwise I am afraid that you won't be able to pull yourself out from these talented groups/individual. Together with Izone and Itzy, Gidle is one of the three rookie monsters in their girl generation.
Hey I am a big fan and I would love for you to react to Fineas who is a producer for Billie Eilish and her brother but not may people that are aware of his songs
Never listened to someone talk this much in a reaction video, jesus :P Listens for 3 seconds, pauses and talks for 2 minutes, then listens for another 3 seconds and talks even longer. This channel is obviously not for me, lol :)
