It's definitely a possibility but his story did check out somewhat...he told me he had to clean the place up and protect it in exchange for staying there and he was cleaning while I was there. Taking out the old insulation and loading it up in his truck, can't imagine anyone would have much use for that. Thank you very much for your comment!!
As soon as I heard the comment "These where made for a music festival" I knew exactly where this was. I used to go that festival 18+ years ago. They had big headliners like Tim Mcgraw, Big and Rich and Cowboy Troy and quite a few others back then, sadly its not been the same since then IIRC I believe these houses where built back in the mid 2000's.
Oh that's cool that you attended one of the festivals. Yes, someone else mentioned that they did the electrical for the homes about 15 years ago, so those timelines match up. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Very unique explore! I love the drone shots you incorporated into this one. Very cool. Your intro looked a bit sketchy. I'm glad you didn't fall! Thanks for sharing this one. We thoroughly enjoyed it! 👍
I was very confident in the safety of my intro, I really wouldn't have done it if it didn't feel safe but I appreciate the concern! Glad you enjoyed this one and thanks very much for your comment!!
Sad these homes/condos are just rotting away, too bad there was a fire that broke out, but those places are a big target for vandalism right, thank you for showing us these and being a Billy Goat climbing up those rocks and in/out of those sketchy windows, much appreciated!
Yes, it's very unfortunate that they are targets for vandals, imagine how many places wouldn't have been lost if they weren't! A billy goat. 😆 Thank you very much for your comment!!
No problem at all. I honestly wasn't sure if you were trying to be smart or not, had a lot of traffic from reddit today and well, sometimes people from there can be snarky. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you very much for your comment!!
Hi James Cool little neighborhood if you can call it that. What a waste. They never finished building. They look like nice condos. Standing out on the terrace WOW what a cool view. All the mountains covered with snow. The view is probably worth a million dollars. Those musicians would have been partying in style. You said they were never lived in yet there were clothes strewn about all over. I suppose it could have been squatters. With a care taker on the property those were pretty ballsy squatters. The drone footage was very cool. A very nice and interesting video James I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Thank you for sharing it.👍🆒🏯
Ya, I guess you could call it an abandoned neighbourhood technically. The conditions that day with the fresh snow made for a very memorable explore, it was quite the view! So the caretaker lived there but he was also a squatter, just legally I guess. 😆 I think there may have been one or two other people living there as well on and off...he was the only one there that day. I would assume the clothing and some of the other odds and ends probably belonged to them. Glad you enjoyed dit Irene and thanks a lot for your comment!!
These seemed like they were going Tobe higher end places. I understand why the construction stopped but sad to see all of the waste. I was going to ask if there were a lot of homeless living there with all of the clothes around. Too bad the property met it's demise to a fire. Sounds suspicious but it is cheaper to get rid of ashes than a building. Any update on a cause yet? Great find and explore James!
Ya, I am almost certain the fire was intentionally set but there could be so many reasons why the person did it. There was only one guy living there when I was there but he did briefly mention someone else that lived inside one of the buildings, which was the building he asked me not to go into. 😆 And yes, I expected them to be fancier, although they were pretty nice for the area they were located. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks very much for your comment!!
Pandemic wasn't that long ago so couldn't be sitting for 5-10 years and to say building these condos for the musicians while at the music festival doesn't make any sense. What happens when they leave.
I don't think the halt in construction had anything to do with the pandemic, they stopped building them in 2019 or earlier. Although maybe it did stop the plans to finish the buildings. Like I mentioned, I am just going on what I was told by the man that was living there, whether it is true or not, I can't say. But maybe there was more than one music festival as well as other events in the area. They had festival grounds, so just like the condos, they would likely be used more than once a year. Thank you very much for watching!!
Hi James! Very cool location! I’m sure they would have been very nice if they had been finished. The pandemic has a lot to answer for. It’s a shame nobody bought them and finished them when things settled down
Yes, I think they were very nice for the area but I guess they would have to be considering who they were expected to house. Thank you very much for your comment Stephanie!!
Since they have been semi recently torched " unfortunately " ! My Arch head exploded when you mentioned that !😮 Would you disclose the location ? Enquiring minds want to known! Please!
There is still one building left and for that reason I would prefer not to disclose the location. The problem with displaying locations publicly is that it gives anyone access, including the bad actors. But it is a shame what has happened to these buildings! Thank you very much for your comment!!
13:24: James it’s a game called Carrom - and that’s a Carrom Board, originally from India. The players flick a striker to pocket discs into corners of the board using their fingers. The goal is to pocket all your discs and the red "queen" before your opponent. It’s a game of skill and precision!
Not sure what you mean by filters, whether physical or in post processing? I don't use many physical filters these days, sometimes a polariser but not regularly. The light itself changed throughout the year and by location due to varying conditions. This was filmed in November when the sun naturally doesn't get as high in the sky, so you get longer shadows and a warmer more diffuse light. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
This was an interesting one! After seeing the fireplaces in some of the upstairs rooms, it makes me wonder if they were going to set them up with a kitchen on every floor with each bedroom having it's own ensuite, or if it was going to be one main kitchen and just the bedrooms all on the second level like a house. Guess we'll never know after that fire happened. That was a real shame too, because there were materials that could have been used again (the tubs for sure, possibly the fireplace inserts, and perhaps even some of the interior doors). What a waste though... With them just sitting there unfinished like that, it makes you wonder if the fire wasn't so accidental.
Actually I think it was four separate condos to each building....it was supposed to house the musical talent while they were performing, Soni would imagine a kitchen in each unit. Likely wasn't accidental, unless one of the squatters had a mishap, I'm not too sure! Either way, a huge loss for such a picturesque location. Glad you enjoyed it Carrie and thanks a lot for your comment!!
@@StaticSpaces That makes sense. When i watched the video and heard that it was for the music talent, i was thinking bands and they normally live together (in some fashion) while touring, but if there were smaller acts your theory makes more sense! When i searched, it think it said someone else was in the process of buying them when the fire happened. Hopefully the area will get sold and something will be put there... seems a shame when the foundations are already in place.
So many people kept asking where this one was, if they only knew how easy it was to take 5 mins and do a Google search. 😆 I'd be surprised if this land gets developed into anything in the near future but we will see
A travel trailer caught fire at the housing complex on April 4. 2024 What we know is that firefighters arrived to find a travel trailer on fire, with flames extending to the adjacent structure Firefighters were on scene quickly, controlling the fire, and able to prevent a much more serious incident .. if at first you don't succeed ?
It's entirely possible, they had definitely planned to build at least 5 of them, given the additional two foundations. Thank you very much for your comments!!
Ya, it depends where you live though too, this part of this country doesn't have a very high housing demand. But ya, sometimes projects fall through, the bigger the project the larger the risk. Thanks very much for your comment!!
A lot of work, time and money went into this place. I can't see them demolishing the buildings unless there's severe animal infestation. Walls and Windows can be fixed fairly easily. All of the roofs and structures look good still, just a lot of clean up and repairs, to get back on track. It's unfortunate that most of it was destroyed, I wonder if it was for the insurance...
They may end up doing something with the property eventually, only time will tell. It could have been an insurance thing but I would be surprised...either way, it does sound like the fire could have been intentional. Thank you very much for your comment!!
I'm not sure what you are asking? 🤔 I don't give out locations because then it attracts vandals. Price, for what the land, the buildings? They aren't for sale as far as I know
Can you even finish these anymore? Would think that dampness has destroyed a lot of the materials that are open to air. I would think that mold is a real problem in these unfinished condos. I also dont understand why these buildings were seemingly built for just one music festival and then not finished when corona hit. What was the point in building 3 buildings like these if there werent plans for future use.
I doubt these buildings could be saved, I mean they didn't look too bad on the surface but some materials don't weather well when exposed to the elements. With that said, there were no signs of mold because they weren't sealed, so air got through to prevent that. They weren't built for one festival, it was an ongoing thing, generally festivals like that are held annually. That's also just what the caretaker told me, is it true, I have no idea. Thank you very much for your comment!!
That's interesting, I didn't read anything about that during my research and the "caretaker" certainly didn't mention that. Is there some sort of a news article you can link to about the story? Thank you very much for your comment!!
Did the owners not give the caretaker a broom? Perhaps the tossed laundry basket outside is a functional feature of the landscaping. It covers a water main. Maybe the caretaker is legally restrained from entering the premises by some inherited quirky fine print relating to insurance liability. There is an epidemic of homeless scouring the country for housing. It would be a shame to lose one's sweet caretaker contract with free deluxe all-paid condo in this housing climate simply because the landlord accidentally met someone carrying a broom. The serendipitous broom-wielder could enter the property under the insurance provision allowing entry for emergencies. Maybe this sturdy sweeping fellow and his lovely lady could slap some loose plywood over the open windows and close the entry doors flapping in the damn wind after an uncontested break in. Wouldn't hurt to tack some cheap or free used Tyvek to the particle board either. If I were the free housed caretaker on disability without a car, I would make it a priority of the utmost urgency to arrange a ride to town for a dollar store broom, a bag of nails and find a cheap used roll of building wrap on Craigslist, just to be overcautious. And tidy the place up into piles. I heard that there's a couple new hungry, homeless people in the valley taking instruction in the long abandoned trade of Broom Articulation. And they have a car. Who are we kidding? A Mechanic and his partner came to my door asking to stay in my trailer in exchange for fixing my car. An old man who lost his licence and car was sent my way, young men from the city staring fresh in the country, so much initiative, skill and need. Municipally, Cops we invite can't stay because they can't find an apartment, and honey-talked Doctors refuse residency because of the uneconomic housing expense. A broom.
I'm not sure I am totally following your comment, maybe there is some sarcasm in there. I used the term caretaker but that may not be the best one. He lived there in a trailer and he owned a vehicle, so he was living in the trailer, not the building. I don't know what the deal was that he had with the owners, it really wasn't any of my business. All I know is the day I was there, he was removing insulation and loading it into his truck, don't know what he did with it. I don't think the owners at that point had plans to do anything with the buildings. Maybe he was just a squatter after all, I don't know, but he gave me permission to explore and that was good enough for me! Thanks very much for your comment!!
im sorry abandoned means nobody lives in them, that someone live in one and is checking the property which fail not doing a good job they should be board up to keep people out just my two cent
Well the "caretaker" does not live inside and the buildings, he lives in his trailer and for all the owners are concerned, they don't care about the buildings. That by definition is abandoned but do feel free to disagree. Thanks very much for watching!!
I think you may be confused as to the purpose of the video. The condos are not for sale at all, they are unfinished and I was only giving a tour of them, just like every other video I post on the channel. What exactly do you think is stupid? Thanks for watching!!
