This was one of my moms favorite songs of all time. She was born in ‘53, so she was very much in tune with the music of the 60’s and 70’s. We lost her in July of 2020, just 63 days after my pop, the love of her life lost his battle with cancer. 2020 was rough, but I have hope for 2021.

I've listened to this song on repeat about 30 times now, it's just so so beautiful... I've been crying through half of the 30 listens and the last big keyboard solo cuts straight through my heart, it's so insanely beautiful and almost gives me goosebumps. This song reminds me of my high school sweetheart. I remember it playing in his car when we were stopped at a light. I broke up with him after 2-1/2 years. We reunited about ten years ago, but that didn't work out either. He will always have a place in my heart, no matter what he did wrong in his life.

I love the older music, this particular band brings back such wonderful memories of days gone by. Of a time when you would throw caution to the wind and just live in the moment, no worries. I dig this song for many reasons, first love, lasting memories. Mellow memories of holding hands at the drive inn, and the long kiss goodnight, and all that era had to offer.. love and peace.
Although life was beautiful (l was junior in hi school) we did have some worrys , the biggest one was we were losing some of our close friends in the Vietnam war. I lost about 12 of my friends. They gave all they had in a war that was to most of our schools poll senseless.
@@olblu8746 so true Vietnam drafts were nightmares for the guys at that time. The "Graduation song" in their senior year was a heartbreaking song.. Because most all knew what came next... The dreaded draft papers. So sad, many lost their lives. Never had a chance to have a family of their own. Those that came back were no longer who they were. Their mind was scarred for life. Horrible flashbacks out of the blue. Fast forward to 2022 the same fears are approaching. Will it be the final battle? Almost.
Classics stand the test of time" Never My Love" Is a Prime example, by today's standards which have none lol my radio has been off ... the classics rule for true music 🎶 lovers... keep them coming .
Hard to chase between "Never My Love" and "God Only Knows" as the most moving love song of the era. "God Only Knows" got a big boost from "Love Actually' exposing it to another generation, but the musical sophistication and the lush vocal harmonies of the Association makes it timeless.

Exactly. For those who might find the lyrics a bit on the syrupy side (I don't), then just listen to the music. The Association were always brilliant song stylists, and this song is a beautiful example of their craft. That place around 1:19 where the harmony takes off still gives me goosebumps after all these years.
