Never Park a Tractor behind the Combine-Wise words from my Grandpa. I'm really sorry guys, but...it was a very eventful day. I didn't drive anything other than the combine, nothing broke down. I'll we did was harvest about 140 acers of corn we're down to about 300 acers.

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Having been a professional pilot for the past 35 years I love it when my passengers comment on how easy my job looks. I always reply "You don't want to be with me the day it doesn't look easy!" Usually shuts them up... :-)

No kidding kirk. It bugs me when people spout off how easy they think others jobs are. I am no pilot but I feel safer when they are able to make it look easy. I understand abit about all the responsibility you guys have from a friend of mine, who is also a commercial pilot on several size of aircraft over the years. Both as co-pilot and captain. It really is eye opening.

My Dad used to work all day on the farm, then load a load of hogs just before the men went home. Driving that old GMC double decked with hogs the 50 miles into St Louis was a way for him to stretch his day and not have to be gone from the farm while the men were there insuring their productivity. He was always tired and my Mom was worried that he woujld fall asleep driving. The solution was to send my little sister along with him to talk to him and keep him awake. I guess it worked, he never had an accident.

@Cragified
@Cragified 2 года назад
There is a ferrous check ball in the nozzle that is suppose to be held open by the blue ring (A magnet) of the filler. Sometimes it's not strong enough and you can get a magnet to fit on the nozzle to bypass this (The nozzle will also then spray if it's not in the filler so be careful). If that still doesn't work then the pump is just pumping too fast and you can either adjust it down either via a flow controller if it has one or changing belt pullies to underdrive the pump. Or if you are real desperate kink the hose to restrict the flow rate. Learned all this filling up def in trucks at stations :) Lots of fuel stations actually keep the magnets on hand it's such a common problem.
@Knallteute
@Knallteute 2 года назад
Cool to know. Here in germany we have the same problems when fueling our semis with def/adblue.
@Cragified
@Cragified 2 года назад
@@Knallteute Yeah it is a well intended safety to prevent people from accidently putting def in the diesel tank. Just doesn't work properly some of the time. If the magnet on the tank filler isn't strong enough for the nozzle+friction pressure of the def going around it, the check ball gets pushed closed.

DEF one of three ways to fix your problem. One replace nozzle with manual one or two remove filler screen inside tank or three get 3/8 rubber hose about 12 inches long and jam one end inside nozzle. Fill up through hose. This turns nozzle into a manual nozzle. Works every time.

I have been watching your videos for some time now, do admit it's difficult waiting between them however, I can't even begin to express my level of respect for you and for all farmers in whatever form they are (well 'cept pot farmers, they're just dangerous no matter what) for all the work you do on a daily basis, sharing your "typical" day with us exhausts me and even when I was at my best in the military and as a cop, I know I would have been totally exhausted after half a day of the work you put in. People tell me "thank you for your service" and I'm greatful for that thanks but don't seek it out, to me, you folks, farmers, those who keep the food moving to our dinner plates are just as much heroes in my book so thank you for your service to my belly and keep up the good work and the videos coming please.

Zac I worked for a farmer for about 15 or so years. All my buddies. Oh yeah you get to ride in an A/C cab, nice comfortable seat. Just ride all day. That ain't hard to do. Like you said, they don't see the sun baring down on you fixing things. Digging a plugged plow or combine out. At work at 6 or 6:30 AM and still at it at midnight. Asking where you been the last few weeks? Harvesting or Planting or Plowing. Yeah in that A/C again. Real hard work. I told one buddy, Come ride with me for a day. I knew the next day was going to be a bad one, knowing what we had to do. I told him be at the barn by 7AM, and mind you we are starting late by that time. He got home about 1AM next day he called me at around noon. Dude I just got up. Told him I started at 6:30 again. LOL For some reason he never poked me anymore about riding in a A/C cab and corrected others when they would say something about it. You and your dad have a dryer to tend with. We did not, I do not know anyone in our area that has a dryer not even our Grainary has one.

Used to help out an older farmer and was filling the 16 row planter with him one morning. Parked his pickup behind the planter to fill the boxes with seed and for whatever reason he was in the tractor and started backing up…there were dents every 30” the length of his truck, I had to lock it in to drive out of the ruts since he pushed it about 15 feet. His only comment when he got out of the tractor, “well, it WAS my Sunday-go-to-meetin truck”

Fact. ZVA dispensers ( that’s the fuel trigger assembly) has as previously mentioned a small hole at the bottom of the nozzle. It requires an amount of back pressure acting like a ventury to keep the nozzle open. If you raise the nozzle away from the filter you will find it flows freely. Failing that the nozzle will have a slight burr on the small ventury inlet. Also very dependant on pressure to dispense

This may be dumb, but it might be the issue. The end of the nozzle tip, on the bottom side, has a small air vent hole. It is what causes the nozzles to kick off. Check and make sure that hole is free and clear. Also make sure that hole is not against the filter in your tank when trying to pump it.

Need your gloves off to fix whatever but your hands are so cold without the gloves. Let some of these folks try it. Good comments Zach. Jim’s ad comment at eating time was funny. Good going Jim. You and your dad ant Jim really knocked some corn out on this video. Makes for a great harvest day when everything works and no break downs. You all moved right along today. Nice of that local group to bring food out to the field for you. Not trying to tell you what to do but might you want to hold onto that small header. Nice that nothing broke, drying, drying, drying, and on to the next.

Remember!!!! DEF spelled sideways is fed. Best generator of acid rain in history.

Looks like smooth sailing for you all as long as the rain stays away and the temps stay above average...my better half appreciated your cool ranch snack with the chili

We are the exact same way here in southern Ontario we have rain every 3rd day and it looks like all of next week is rain so we’re finding mud too

Good luck is the result of a prepared mind. Day with no problems no break down. I can see your preparation paying off. Have a good one 🙂

I lived in Starbuck through age 11. Best Dairy Queen in the world. I've got a lot of memories of riding my bike to the DQ and getting a cookie dough blizzard, and then going fishing at the marina. I need to get back up there sometime and visit family. My uncle is the mayor of Lowry!

Don’t feel alone with the emissions problems, doesn’t matter if it’s green, red, yellow, purple, pink, they all have DEF issues and we scramble to get them fixed as fast as possible. Unfortunately def and emissions issues is where dealers catch a bad name
